Developing an effective low kick game for K-1 Kickboxing requires more than simply hitting the pads hard — fighters need to be able to combine their hands and kicks, create openings and repeatedly bring the low kick into their combinations without becoming predictable.
In this video, Punisher Kickboxing head coach Stuart Lowe is joined by his son and ICO K-1 Kickboxing Champion Dylan Lowe to demonstrate a progressive low kick pad work system designed specifically for K-1 style striking.
Rather than treating the low kick as an isolated technique, these drills show how it can be integrated into flowing combinations and used as part of a structured pad work system.
This K-1 Kickboxing pad work system focuses on:
• developing effective low kick combinations
• connecting boxing seamlessly into low kicks
• building speed, power and accuracy on the pads
• creating natural striking rhythm between punches and kicks
• developing high-volume K-1 combination work
• improving balance and positioning throughout combinations
• giving coaches progressive drills they can integrate into pad work sessions
The key is repetition with purpose. By working through structured combinations on the pads, fighters can develop the ability to find the low kick naturally during exchanges rather than having to consciously search for it.
For coaches, the drills also provide a framework that can be adapted and expanded depending on the experience and ability of the fighter.
About Stuart Lowe, Dylan Lowe & Punisher Kickboxing
Stuart Lowe is the founder and head coach of Punisher Kickboxing Academy in Rutherglen, Glasgow, and an experienced coach who has spent years developing fighters for competitive Kickboxing and K-1 rules competition.
Alongside him in this video is his son, Dylan Lowe, an ICO K-1 Kickboxing Champion and one of the competitive fighters to emerge from the Punisher system.
Together, Stuart and Dylan demonstrate how structured pad work can be used to turn fundamental K-1 techniques such as the low kick into combinations that can be applied under the pressure and pace of competition.
