There are overlaps between the two constructs but ethnicity tends to be based on more practical similarities between individuals while race is one that is based on archaic beliefs and pseudosciences to benefit those enforcing this construct by according privileges to some and justifying the oppression of others. The Other (worse) Genocide | Miseducation Guardian Angel 1 2025-07-30 | The on-going genocide of non-Arab Sudanese civilians (mostly the Fur, Masalit and Zaghawa peoples) has resulted in the unbelievable number of over 25 million people in need of humanitarian aid. This along with the attacks on Eastern DRC by Rwandan and Uganadan-backed paramilitary groups, resulting in 27 million people in need of humanitarian aid, are the two worst humanitarian catastrophes in the world at the moment. The outrage is however significantly less pronounced than that of Palestine and even Ukraine. There are a few reasons for this; one of which is public ignorance of the details of these more forgotten atrocities. So despite many people wishing to advocate for Sudan and Congo, their lack of knowledge of the situations makes it difficult and discouraging to do so confidently and effectively.
