A spin of the globe leads him to choose Ireland as the destination for his new life and further research informs him that the official language of that country is Gaelic. Arriving in Dublin speaking the language, he is puzzled when nobody can understand him. One Way Trip filmbase 2014-01-09 | In 2011, a private Dutch company announced its plans to send four people to set up the first human colony on Mars. The four participants, who are scheduled to make the trip in 2025, will be chosen from the general public. Since the application process began, in April 2013, over 200,000 people have volunteered. We meet two of the hopeful applicants. With a mixture of humour and seriousness, each applicant begins to discuss the possibility of becoming one of the first humans to colonize another planet. Each applicant discusses their initial thoughts and feelings upon hearing of the Mars One project - and their subsequent decision to apply. They discuss what they imagine will be their greatest challenges, both before and after their proposed departure from earth, and why they believe they are suitable for the mission. And, most importantly, they each discuss the underlying motivation that compels them to want to take part in such an ambitious and seemingly fantastical project.
