Arije-Aike de HaasThis dyslexia test can be an excellent start to discovering whether or not you have dyslexia. It is used for a broad age range, including dyslexic adults. With this test, most adults are correctly identified as either dyslexic or non-dyslexic. While it does not replace an official diagnosis, this dyslexia test can be the first step in finding out something new about yourself. Employers are required to treat dyslexics fairly and make reasonable adjustments in many places over the world. So testing for dyslexia can be worthwhile also as an adult. #dyslexiatest

When they collide, the group usually wins, because the curriculum and the timetable are built around the group. If you are dyslexic, you probably paid for that without anyone explaining it to you.

Those ways made sense back then, but many dyslexic adults are still using them years later, when they find themselves in very different situations. This is the second dyslexic reflection, and I believe it's worth reflecting on for a bit.

It's just one study, and the finding hasn't been consistently replicated, so I'm not making big promises here. Still, if switching fonts might help you understand more of what you read, it's worth trying for yourself.

In a study of masking in autistic and nonautistic neurodivergent adults, one participant said friends were puzzled by this different version of them, and another was told by an ex that they were faking being autistic. Sometimes unmasking means not being believed at all.

COACHING & CONSULTATION Have a look at my website: dehaas1on1.comWhy Dyslexia at Work Can Lead to Burnout #dyslexiaArije-Aike de Haas2026-06-07 | There is a clear link between dyslexia and burnout at work. Dyslexic employees often face stressors that are not present for non-dyslexic colleagues, making everyday tasks more demanding. Constantly double-checking work, masking struggles, dealing with a lack of understanding or accommodations, and managing a high cognitive load can all contribute to burnout. The transition from the education system to the workplace can be especially challenging, making it important to recognize and address these hidden demands.

Dyslexia can easily go unnoticed at work. We might compensate in ways that make our difficulties less visible, leading to situations where people in HR develop the belief that there are no dyslexic employees. The idea of the “Cinderella disability” comes from the fairytale, where someone is present the entire time, contributing in the background, but not truly recognised for who they are. Research suggests something similar can happen with dyslexia in the workplace.

Dyspraxia or Something Else?Arije-Aike de Haas2026-05-13 | Dyspraxia, stereotypical movement disorder, and tic disorders are some of the neurodivergent conditions that can affect movement, coordination, and motor control. Many people recognize themselves in one of these conditions because certain symptoms seem to fit. But in reality, motor-related neurodivergent conditions can overlap in confusing ways. Sometimes it may look like someone is simply uncoordinated, when the real issue is difficulty paying attention to movement and body awareness. That’s one reason why dyspraxia and the inattentive subtype of ADHD can sometimes be confused with each other. Dyspraxia and dysgraphia also share multiple overlapping symptoms. In this video, we go over definitions, symptoms, and explanations you may not have considered before. Looking at the bigger picture, including other neurodivergent conditions and non-neurodevelopmental explanations, could be exactly what you need.
