I explore texture, pattern, and contrast using a variety of mark making tools including Copic Acrea markers, Toolie Art paint markers, and metallic accents.
Each mini square becomes its own little world of layered color and expressive marks.

These limited-palette pieces are anything but simple thanks to stencil layering with Blick matte acrylics (Purple Madder, Yellow Oxide, and White) and a shimmering finish using Kuretake gold mica paste.
Inspired by the 12-piece sampler set from my recent series, I took the concept bigger and bolder to explore how minimal materials can create deep, expressive art. If you love intuitive painting, granulation textures, and mixed media layers, you’re going to love this one!

Then we’ll layer in rich, matte stencil work using Blick paints in Purple Madder, Yellow Oxide, White, and finish it off with shimmering Kuretake gold mica paste. The result? A beautifully layered sampler full of unexpected textures, color shifts, and metallic magic.

One is a concentric circle piece and the other is a loose, expressive abstract — both using the same mark-making tools: Posca markers, Artx acrylic paint pens, Neocolor II pastels, and a pop of silver for shine.
I also talk about how the Daniel Smith watercolors compare with Masha’s handmade paints to see how the same colors behave across different materials.
If you love mixed media art, experimenting with palettes, or seeing how tools influence results, you’ll love this side-by-side process!
