Lyon Funk Lostwave: Top 3 Brahim unknowns (incomplete, multiple snippets) [update: 1/3 solved]

"COVID: The Musical" is a story of my pandemic experience, all put to music: 10 songs with lyrics that parody everything from Frank Sinatra to Eminem, about subjects from the virus to the election to return-to-office & remote work!
The rules of the game:
1. Every song features original, autobiographical lyrics that represent true experiences I've had during the COVID pandemic.
2. All lyrics are parodies that can be sung to famous tunes, that I'm sure most of you will recognize.
3. However, in these videos, the lyrics are instead put to new, original, genre-appropriate melodies created with online tools such as SUNO/UDIO.
This is the eighth of the ten songs, whose lyrics can also be sung to the classic 1930's hit "It's Only a Paper Moon" -- youtube.com/watch?v=6FQAe7f6irQ

Brahim is one of the most interesting OPs of the Lyon Funk lostwave search. With over 1000 unique songs, we've been at it since October and still have more than 80 songs that remain unidentified, from Brahim's Dailymotion & YouTube channels.
This video represents my favorite 10 songs, among the dozens of unknown snippets from Brahim's YT channel. As people have said in YT comments, "Lyon Funk hits hard" and I'm sure you'll agree once you give these songs a listen.
Please help us find the real names & singers of these songs, or join discord.gg/fmmlostwave to join our online search community. (Especially if you have connections with the original group of Lyon Funkers!!!)
Enjoy!

The cassette's case is labeled "Compositions & Arrangements". I haven't seen the cassette, or heard the music, in ~30 years.
Note that for the ones I call "original compositions", I am not sure how much they are inspired by existing melodies. I was a teenager fooling around with the piano 30 years ago and don't remember the context anymore. I had an external cassette recorder sitting on the piano bench, hit "record", and started playing.
Song no. 7 is definitely not a composition -- it's the melody of an existing song, that I believe was sung by a female singer or choir, and which (I believe) had lyrics. I recognize the tune after hearing it for all these years, but am no longer sure where the melody came from. Any help would be appreciated!

FMM Discord sleuths are at it again, trying to identify more Lyon Funk! These songs are from Dailymotion mixes dating back to the same era as "funky_vinyls_records" (OP of famous lostwave "Somewhere in the Night"). FMM has thoroughly cataloged nearly 1100 Brahim song uploads among 3 Dailymotion and 2 YouTube channels, and so far we've identified about 80% of the songs!
On Dailymotion specifically, there were 248 songs (including 18 duplicates), of which we've identified all but 26. These are the last 26 songs that have stumped us for weeks! Brahim's songs are rare 80's funk & pop, with a few as late as 1990.
Please help us identify these songs! There are also other songs from Brahim's YouTube channel, which will be uploaded separately once we get a chance to study them more. If you're interested in this search or love "Lyon Funk" 80s music, join FMM Discord: discord.gg/fmmlostwave

Part of the same Lyon Funk community as "Somewhere in the Night" OP NeonBlue, GBOSSS is the OP of famous lostwave "Feel the Passion", posted to WatZatSong in 2011. We recently contacted him about it and he shared the name of the song a few weeks ago (see youtube.com/watch?v=9CNuP_4qTVk&t=0s ).
He seems like a cool guy with tons of knowledge of obscure 80s songs. He's left comments on some of our channels, seems like a fan of lostwave, and wants to challenge us. Well, GBOSSS, in gratitude for your help on "Feel the Passion" and in hope that we can collaborate more going forward, I'd like to declare, on behalf of lostwave & 80s music lovers everywhere: "Challenge accepted!"
Some of these are challenging, others are not so hard. I solved two and someone else on our Discord server solved another handful last night. This video features 9 of the songs still unsolved as of 2024-08-17. Here's the spreadsheet; y'all know what to do!

At long last the vinyl has arrived from Europe. Watch me play it as I wait in anticipation. When this video was filmed, I (1) was not sure if this was the correct song, and (2) had no idea how the rest of the song went. Accidentally played the instrumental side first, which made the suspense last even longer. Watch as the tension rises in the air, and remember, whether we win or lose, it's just a game (and we don't need the rules to play)!

Our investigations have led us to branch out to other people in the "Lyon Funk" community. "Lyon Funk" videos often feature snippets of 80's funk/soul & disco music -- search the term on YouTube or dailymotion to have a look yourself! Some people from this community shared even more snippets of unknown songs, hoping we could identify them!
Over forty songs were shared, and Lostwave sleuths solved three quarters of them in a week and a half. But ten songs remain, and my new sequel YouTube video aims to help consolidate what we know so far, and popularize the search!

UPDATE 2024-09-11: It has been confirmed by people in the original Lyon Funk community that funky_vinyls_records is not NeonBlue. A reconstructed timeline is:
-- 1: funky_vinyls_records uploads the mix containing SITN
-- 2: someone in Lyon Funk scrapes the mix and isolates SITN and reshares it. We've identified this person.
-- 3: it gets reshared to another collector who shares it with WatZatSong OP gymforma (who we're also directly in touch with)
-- 4: gymforma posts on WatZatSong.

The official tracking spreadsheet is at docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1K50sdvSP0_61ru7PLyie6XRsZr44zOTjA4kdP7tH9D0/edit?gid=0#gid=0, and I've used a numbering system XXYY, where XX is the mix number (01-17) and YY is the track number. One of the tracks is present in two different mixes, and the audio splices the music together to obtain a 50-second clip.

"Voices in the Night" was a mysterious music video uploaded by YouTube channel 2010FSR (now renamed) in 2012. There were originally two uploaded videos, an original clip (length 1:33), and a longer clip of the same recording (length 1:49), marked as "edited for Sher". The longer clip contained a "Voices in the Night" title screen missing from the original clip.
In 2024, investigative work in the r/Lostwave community managed to reach out to the OP who uploaded a full version (length 4:13). Notably, the full version is from a different take than the original two versions -- both the news broadcast and the singer's dancing are clearly from different takes. The audio of the song does appear to overlap. This may mean that the singer was actively involved in the production of the video and, like the news broadcasters, did multiple takes.
We've also confirmed that the singer is Billy Trudel (discogs.com/artist/860931-Billy-Trudel). He confirmed that this song is called "I Hear Voices", written in the early '80s with a band "Lazer". We are trying to reach out to get more information, or an official recording of the song.
Two days after uploading the full version, OP's channel was renamed and all videos were privated/deleted. It's possible that we'll get a better, digitized version shortly. The videos were said to be taken as part of a college project, so it's possible that there were just two takes, but it seems like Billy's part also had two takes.

Fastforward to 2024, due to a feeling of nostalgia, I wanted to try and find these songs again, but couldn't find any trace of them online. I even posted to Reddit but no one replied. So I took matters into my own hands, made a keyboard recreation of "One Strike Away", posted it on YouTube, and e-mailed r/Lostwave. With some sleuthing, we found the original band, and a few weeks ago Walter Fay (one of the original composers) reached out to me directly, sending .mp3 files of both songs and giving me a green light to share these long-forgotten songs with the world!
These songs meant a lot to our family, so I wanted to do them justice by creating a beautiful "music video" to go along with the music. I'm not a professional creator and learned a lot along the way, and this video has been a "labor of love" to create. I hope you like it; if you do please like & subscribe to my new channel!

Thanks so much to Bob & Walter from Wet Paint, and the Boston Red Sox for 100+ years of great baseball.
Last month, I decided to recreate the song from memory, and uploaded a keyboard rendition to YouTube (youtube.com/watch?v=rb-bxpHU-CQ). I also posted on Reddit's r/Lostwave sub, an a bunch of people helped me track down this song:
1. Someone found a Yandex cache of a 1991 magazine mentioning this song, by "Walter Fay" of Rhode Island's "Wet Paint Band".
2. Someone found Wet Paint's Facebook page, and a YouTube video of them performing different songs.
3. I tried reaching out through various channels, but at first didn't get a response and was about to give up.
But then, last week, Walter, the original composer of this song, came across the search and reached out to me directly! I now have the original lyrics and .mp3 files of both this song (One Strike Away) and the other song (Fenway Park - This Diamond Is Forever). Listening to these songs after 30 years brings back so many memories!
Walter gave me the green light to create a "music video" and upload the song to YouTube so others can enjoy this beautiful song! (Maybe if this song becomes popular again we can get a live remake? :)) I will upload another video of the "Fenway Park" song when I have time (so subscribe if you don't want to miss it :p).
So how does my "keyboard recreation from memory" compare with the original song? You be the judge! (Yes, I missed an entire verse, but maybe that was me subconsciously deciding to intentionally block out the verse about the Yankees...)
Enjoy, and thanks to everyone, especially Wet Paint Band!
Recently got into Lostwave and started thinking of songs from my past that I haven't heard in decades, and thought of this tune. Luckily, I found a DOS emulator online where I could play the same game from 3 decades ago, and the music is embedded into the software. I took a screen capture of me playing Bridge (and winning 10/13 tricks!) while the song plays in the background.
Probably doesn't mean much to others, but the song brings back a nostalgic / sentimental feel, so I'm uploading it to share & archive! Enjoy :)
There were two songs on the cassette -- I believe the same two songs were on both sides. One song was "One Strike Away", a rock song chronicling the history of the Red Sox to date (this was all before the Curse was broken in 2004). As multi-generation Red Sox fans, the song really meant a lot to our family, and I remember intentionally popping the cassette tape into the car tape recorder every time we drove into Boston -- we saw Prudential Center and the Hancock building near the Mass Pike exit 15 toll plaza, and started playing the song. For some reason I remember the tune and lyrics vividly.
The other song was called "Fenway Park (This Diamond Is Forever)", and I remember the tune to that (but only some -- not all -- the lyrics). (At some point I'll try to recreate that song too.)
The last time I saw the cassette was ~2003, but for some reason these songs stuck with me. Recently, I've been trying to find any trace of this song online, but to no avail. Searching the lyrics or title returns no results. I found a few bands named "Wet Paint" and reached out (got no response so maybe there's hope), but the music genre doesn't really match either. Tried posting the lyrics on Reddit, but didn't get any responses. But, with all the recent interest in Lost Media and Lostwave these days (I am a huge fan of "Like the Wind") I thought I try and recreate the song and see if it can be found with the "Power of the Internet".
Even if we don't find it, through this recreation I'm proud to ensure that this beautiful song doesn't get lost in the sands of time (I will also upload to archive.org). And, that it helps a new generation of fans enjoy the rich legacy of one of the most storied franchises in sports history.
And of course... go Red Sox!
