WHAT WILL WE SEE ON THE STREAMS
These really are streams that have something for everyone, from the sights and sounds of the islands famous ex-London Underground trains trundling past, the every popular hovercraft landings, maritime activities in the Solent, to simply sitting back and enjoying the wonderful scenic view, Ryde has it all. Solent Scenic Camera will stream throughout the day and pan along the Solent, giving us a much closer view of the very busy shipping lanes through this stretch of water.
our 2nd cam features Ryde Esplanade youtu.be/34YMtblpGaE and covers much the same as our initial ‘pop-up’ camera did earlier in 2020, an overview of Ryde Esplanade, featuring Ryde Pier, Hovercraft landing, bus interchange and distant shipping in the Solent.
As an additional bonus to our coverage from the island, we are also now streaming two cameras from the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, one from Havernstreet and the other at Wootton. These are available FREE to watch via the Railcam website.
More information on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway can be found at iwsteamrailway.co.uk

Seaton Tramway web pages: tram.co.uk Timetable available at tram.co.uk/timetables ***1st July 2022 New Camera at Colyford now youtube.com/watch?v=tlaqbXEG1Kg **** Seaton Tramway is a 2 ft 9 in (838 mm) narrow gauge electric tramway. The 3-mile (4.8 km) route runs through East Devon’s Axe Valley, between the coastal resort of Seaton, the village of Colyford, and the ancient town of Colyton.
It operates over part of the former Seaton Branch Line, which closed in March 1966. The tramway was established in 1970 by Claude Lane, founder of Modern Electric Tramways Ltd, which had previously operated in Eastbourne between 1954 and 1969.
Fourteen tramcars are part of the visitor attraction, which sees about 80,000 visitors per year. All of the tramcars are based on classic British designs, and vary in size between half-scale (1:2) and two thirds-scale (2:3). Most were built from scratch by Claude Lane and/or his successor Allan Gardner, but three were rebuilt from full-size cars which originally ran in London, Bournemouth and Exeter.
Our camera is situated on the depot and overlooks the Riverside Halt, which covers trams starting and finishing their days work in the depot yard, services to and from Seaton Station, passing loop .
Railcam UK Ltd operate a network of railway themed live streaming cameras, based in the United Kingdom. Since 2009 we have grown from a small enthusiast group with a single camera in Preston, to a globally accessed rail enthusiast hub with in excess of 100 cameras both owned and maintained by Railcam, and guest cameras from around the world. The Railcam portfolio has expanded to include access to train schedules and live signalling diagrams to accompany the viewing experience. Despite the growth, Railcam UK is still run by a dedicated group of rail enthusiasts and relies on the sterling efforts of its team of volunteers.
An extremely popular social media community has grown over the years and now boasts 25k+ Facebook, 15k+ Twitter and 45k+ YouTube followers/subscribers, this to add to 40k+ Railcam members.

Railcam UK were invited by the Diesel and Electric Preservation Group to visit the West Somerset Railway for the Mixed Traction Weekend, 17th & 18th September 2021, to take advantage of some filming opportunities, including cab footage and a front mounted camera to film the entire route, in BOTH directions.
The first run was captured from 'Manor' Class 4-6-0 7828 Odney Manor, running between Bishops Lydeard and Dunster. The return working was headed by DEPG Class 33 D6575. To complete the coverage, DEPG Class 33 D6566 was enlisted for the round trip, Bishops Lydeard - Bishops Lydeard via Norton Fitzwarren and the run-around loop.
This is the final part of the series which will cover 'station-to-station' coverage in both directions, plus comprehensive coverage of the run around at Norton Fitzwarren, a view not usually seen by the general public. Here we feature a few video clips captured during the weekend.
Railcam UK thanks the members of the West Somerset Railway and Diesel and Electric Preservation Group for the warm welcome and support throughout our visit, especially our host Andy Royal for bending over backwards to show us the very best of the WSR.
