Furnace Blower Not Working - How to Check It Word of Advice TV 2018-07-24 | Is your furnace blower motor not working and there is no air coming out of your vents? Perhaps your blower motor has burnt out and you need a new one. Or maybe it is just simply not getting any power therefore not turning on. In this video I show you how you can check if your HVAC blower motor is bad or if it is the control board that is defective. Be safe when you perform these checks and make sure you have the power off when touching any uninsulated parts of a wire/connector. Also, there are many different kinds of furnaces and control boards so do not take my example as law. If you have a Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, or Roper washer that looks similar to what you see in this video, there is an easy fix to a no spin problem. Usually if the washer is filling, agitating, and draining but not spinning, the culprit is the shift actuator which switches the washer from agitating to final spin. Toilet Does NOT Stop Filling! Water Keeps Running Word of Advice TV 2023-09-16 | What to check and do if your toilet does not stop filling and the water keeps running. In this video I show you how to replace the toilet fill valve seal and then the fill valve itself. Our toilet kept leaking water into the bowl like this before and last time the problem was a leaking flapper. This time was a little different. The water kept refilling every few minutes and then started to constantly fill and go into the overflow tube. I was hoping I could get away with replacing only the seal but ended up having to replace the whole valve after all. How to Order the RIGHT Capacitor For Your Air Conditioner Word of Advice TV 2023-07-22 | How to order the RIGHT capacitor for your air conditioner. Ordering the correct capacitor is super easy, all you need is the microfarad rating and that's it. The rating is usually labelled as MFD or uF. All the other numbers don't matter. The physical size of the capacitor does not matter either. If your new capacitor is smaller than the old one, you can simply crimp down on the metal bracket holding it to secure it in place. Dont Get an Air Conditioner Inspection Word of Advice TV 2023-07-08 | Let me tell you why you should not get an air conditioner inspection or an A/C tune up every year. Most HVAC companies will highly recommend getting an annual AC check up done but they are actually not needed and not necessary. Often times they even do more harm then good! Of course there are honest companies out there who provide the value intended when it comes to air conditioner inspections but there are just as many companies who simply see them as an opportunity to upsell something. I talk more about that in the video. The Desolation of an Air Conditioner Word of Advice TV 2023-05-27 | Here is an example of the slow demise of an air conditioner that has the unfortunate luck of being installed by the ocean. The desolation comes faster if the unit is in a place where there is a nice cool ocean breeze. I found a little street that had a bit of a wind tunnel effect in it and had air conditioner condensers lined up in a row. With each unit, as it got closer to the ocean, you can see the dramatic effects ocean salt water air has on the condenser coil fins. Pretty impressive! What Appliance Brand Is The Best? Word of Advice TV 2022-10-08 | What kitchen and home appliance brand is best? I wish I could give you a solid answer but the truth is that they are all suffering from poor quality in the recent years. It is not as much what brand is best as what production year is best. The older appliances are of much better quality and were actually built to last whereas the new ones look pretty and are energy efficient but are built to be replaced, the sooner the better. This applies to all of them, the refrigerator, washing machine, dryer, stove, dishwasher and the rest. In this video I review which appliance brands are good and which ones not to buy. The wrong direction - clockwise or counter-clockwise(CW, CCW)? It is likely blowing air but the fan blade is running backwards causing the air to get sucked in down instead of being blown up which causes the unit to stop cooling as well as it used to. HVAC Thermostat Blinking Cool On But A/C Not Working Word of Advice TV 2022-07-02 | Is you house HVAC thermostat blinking "cool on" or "heat on" and does not turn on the furnace or air conditioner? This is most often caused because power was interrupted/cycled even if the interruption was for a very brief moment. Some thermostats like the Honeywell brand have a delay timer which is used to prevent the heating and cooling equipment from coming on too quickly (known as short cycling). Short cycling an air conditioner can damage the compressor which is why some thermostats have a compressor protection feature built in that prevents the compressor in the HVAC unit from coming on immediately after power is reset. How To Install MRCOOL DIY Minisplit Heat Pump Step by Step Word of Advice TV 2022-06-18 | How to install a 3rd gen ductless MRCOOL DIY minisplit heat pump step by step. In this video we installed two 12k mini-split air conditioner units in a cafe shop and put the condenser units on the roof. We tried to film the whole installation process from start to finish. The routing of the refrigerant line set, hooking it up, mounting the air handler, sloping the drain line, swapping drain position, mounting condenser units, weather-proofing them, cutting and installing the gutter line guard covers, the electrical hook ups, operation review, and much more! All that being said though... There was a lot of going back and forth between floor 1, 2, and the roof. How to install it and an overview of portable air conditioners and window ac. I recently received this portable AC from Dreo, installed it on our horizontal slide window and tried it out for 2 weeks. I went into it thinking that it would end as more of a negative review but it actually performed really well! I guess portable air conditioners have come a long way since I worked on them back in the day. They are smaller, more efficient, quieter, and there is no need to deal with a condensate drain. Frigidaire Fridge Not Cooling and The Easy Fix Word of Advice TV 2022-05-07 | I have a side by side Frigidaire fridge that stopped cooling but the freezer works ok, everything was still frozen there. The control LED was blinking an H1 error code. At first I thought it wasn't cooling enough because we left the door open too long but the temp in the fresh food section kept getting warmer so I had to do some troubleshooting. I could hear that the fan in the freezer was working, the one that is supposed to blow cold air into the refrigerator compartment. From that I knew that it is either a stuck damper or the damper motor has failed. In this video I show how to take out the control assembly that has the damper in it and how I "unstuck" my damper flapper. Is it time to consider replacing your HVAC system when it goes over 10 years old? After all, the average life expectancy is a 10-15 year lifespan. Is it worth paying $5-10k to get a more efficient unit? Will the utility bill savings actually be worth the bulk price up front? I personally don't think so. In this video I go over how long does a residential air conditioner and furnace last and when is it really the time to consider replacing the system. I derive this conclusion after about 8 years of working on residential HVAC units. If they are working fine, it's best to keep the old ones. A faulty door switch can cause a dryer to not turn on, run but not heat, or it won't turn off when opened. In this video I show you step by step instructions on how to install a new dryer door switch easy. This is a fairly simple repair and should only take you about 10 minutes to complete the replacement. My old door switch was bypassed and I also go over which wires need to be wire-nutted together to bypass it like that. Does a Water Heater Really Need to be Drained and Flushed? Word of Advice TV 2022-02-26 | Does your gas or electric water heater actually need to be drained and flushed every year or is this something completely unnecessary? For most people, it is better if they simply don't disturb their water heater and let it do its thing. No draining, no flushing, no replacing anode rods. Why do I say this? Simply because I have seen many old water heaters that were very old but never had any kind of maintenance done to them. I have also seen plenty of water heaters that needed to be replaced when they were under 10 years old even though the homeowner had flushed it every year, replaced the anode rod, and yanked the pressure relief valve on a yearly basis... Throughout the years, seeing all these water heaters brought me to a conclusion that draining and flushing a water heater is not necessary. In this video I go over the basic wiring schematic of a home thermostat for furnace or air conditioner applications. I also take apart a digital thermostat to compare the basic diagram to what it actually looks like inside. How To Play Mancala The Right Way!! With Gameplay Word of Advice TV 2021-12-11 | How to play mancala the right way with an example of gameplay. The following is the video script: How to play your new favorite 2-player game! Actually, it’s an old game but if you’re like me and have been lied to your whole life, this will be revolutionary. Most of us have been taught how to play the child version of Mancala, where one player continues his turn endlessly until he or she lands in an empty space. Though this PG version can be sort of fun, I find the “ages 8 and up” version to be much more interesting. Allow me to show you how Mancala is really meant to be played. Start by putting 4 marbles into each small cup. Players take turns choosing a cup and moving the pieces in it counter-clockwise putting one marble in each cup. Each player can only start moving pieces from their side of the board. When they get to the scoring cups, called mancalas, they only put marbles into their own mancala and skip the opponent’s if they get to it. The ONLY time a player gets to go again is if their last piece lands into their mancala. And here is my favorite part of the game! You can steal pieces from the other player! Here’s how it works: If your last playing piece is placed into an empty cup on YOUR side, you may then take that marble and all of the marbles from your opponent’s cup, which is across from you, and put them into your mancala. If the opposing cup has no marbles in it, then nothing happens. The game ends when all six cups on one side of the board are empty. The player who still has pieces on their side of the board when the game ends, gets to take all those pieces and put them into their mancala. Whichever player has more pieces in their mancala is the winner! We like to count by simply distributing all the pieces from the mancalas back into each players’ cups. The player who is missing pieces on their side is the loser and gets to demand another match. That is all, do enjoy your new favorite game! How To Read Water Heater Wiring Diagram Word of Advice TV 2021-11-20 | How to read a water heater wiring diagram or schematic on an electric water heater.
