I wanted to try something that sounded like a battle theme from the DS/3DS era of Pokemon handheld titles but with a twist so I attempted to merge some instruments and different counterpoints to bring some rhythm.
I was reminded recently about Zenio from the Starcraft II competitive era from Korea (2010 GSL, I think?) and decided to name this one after him. I used to watch a huge amount of SCII esports, with there being many British casters like TotalBiscuit and dApollo at the time, along with legends like Day9.
Anyway, back to the track after some reminiscing. I tried to go for a short intro to get straight into the action with some synth strings and some layers guitars and a touch of organ. Later on, I try to bring those together with each offering counterpoints, both on and off tempo to keep it lively and interesting.
While I think the loop towards the end is rather lacklustre, I could have done a lot more to wind that down. Maybe a few extra bars would have helped to clean that up. Anyway, please do feel free to let me know what you think in the comments below as always!
