The Most Heartbreaking Winner of Canadas Worst Driver? ThunderTHR Plus 2020-10-23 | "Why am I so stupid?"After six seasons where the title of the "worst" could be argued to be sent to the right person for their respective season (arguably in the cases of Season 4's Ashley and Season 6's Lance), Season 7 takes that and completely throws it out of the window. Shirley, heralding from the island of Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, is a driver who learned a long time ago, and because of being in a rural area, never really had to do too much major driving where she could be considered a hazard. However, after her daughter Janis moved to the province's capital in Halifax, Shirley had to start making five-hour drives in order to visit her, which is where her problems started to form. She often appeared confused and struggled to apply any of her abilities around other pedestrians, and had a dangerous habit of stopping when trying to merge onto the highway. Janis brought her to rehab in order to get herself up to date with the rules of the road and to get her out of her dangerous habits.Her stay in rehab in nearly any other season could've EASILY made her a graduate based on her technical skill alone. She actually PASSED more challenges than she failed, and showed genuine interest in improving as a driver, saying she was "completely fascinated" by the whole concept of driver rehab. However, on the few episodes where she had been shortlisted, she was either blocked from being able to graduate due to a certain challenge she failed, or was outdone by another one of her fellow contestants. The penultimate episode ultimately was what put her in the final three for the running of the title, but after passing the reversing challenge and performing the best out of the three in the MEGA Challenge, she seemed like she was bound to possibly become the final graduate.... atleast that was until her final road test, where her confusion of the roads of Hamilton (such as dual-turn lanes and stopping in pedestrian crosswalks) begins to unravel her. Ultimately, including an incident where she drives down the wrong way in front of a police vehicle AND up a blind hill next to a double yellow line, aswell as stopping on the highway and not going fast enough to merge, she ultimately finished with a final road test that was so disastrous, she ended up committing 26 moving violations (costing a total of $2,860), one of the worst runs up to that point. Unfortunately, as the other two nominees left had only minor incidents during their road tests, Shirley's drive was ultimately the catalyst hat gave her the unwanted title of being "Canada's Worst Driver". However, due to her leaps and bounds of improvement, Andrew convinced Shirley to continue driving and to continue improving.Shirley would return for the 9th season, showing that she took Andrew's message to heart, continuously getting private lessons with her provincial driving school, as well as getting her husband to help with setting up cones for challenges at her home. Not only did both her (and Janis) felt that she was NOT going to be named the worst, but that she improved so much they felt she'd be one of the first graduates. Ultimately, after passing every challenge in the second episode of the season, she would completely redeem herself from Season 7, and become the second contestant to graduate.
When Canadas Worst Driver was sent to the Hospital! ThunderTHR Plus 2020-10-12 | "I'm never gonna get it!...Ever!"Season 6 harkens back to going with a 'winner' in a similar fashion to that of Season 1's Chris, by going with a driver who ultimately was a result of simply being far too inexperienced; Lance Morin.Lance is a "fashionista" who dresses very dapper and is very proud of his work, but has only been driving (at the time of this season) for about 4 months due to having just gotten their license 4 months ago at that time. Behind the wheel he's a nervous wreck, often breaking down into tears when unable to properly perform tasks such as parking his car without damaging it, and even getting so anxious that he's prone to having outbursts of needing to vomit. Hell, he could begin hyperventilating even when nothing is around his car in stationary. On top of that? He drove a stick-shift, even though his friend encouraged him NOT to drive a car with one. His nominator and best friend, "Gilles" felt that perhaps bringing him to rehab would gain him the experience and confidence that he needs to improve his driving skills.At time during his stay in rehab, it initially seemed as if Lance was going to have a very difficult uphill journey, breaking down (including a very notable case when trying to reverse an R.V.) and having several cases of being about ready to vomit, but by the halfway point, it seemed like things were starting to click together and that he'd soon become a graduate. Unfortunately however, the latter half of his run would see a sort of relapse, where not only did his driving skills deteriorated, but so too did his fashion, trading in much of his fancy clothing for a torn undershirt. Ultimately, what did him in was the final drive, where he wasn't able to go far before suffering a severe anxiety attack that left him hyperventilating into a brown bag, to the point he had to be taken to a hospital. This, combined with his feelings that he felt this sort of this behaviour was NOT related to his driving skills, was what gave him the title of "Canada's Worst Driver", in a season where arguably, someone else may have been more deserving due to being a far greater danger.

The Most DANGEROUS Worst Driver in Canada? ThunderTHR Plus 2019-03-08 | "I'm not NOT driving!"Perhaps returning to form after a season that saw a driver be named the worst for their emotions over their ability, Season 5 saw perhaps the absolute worst the show has ever seen in terms of driving ability; Angelina Marcantognini.Angelina is a "stay-at-home girlfriend" who not only drives whilst doing multiple tasks at once, but often drives whilst panicked and even at times at the point of tears. Its this dangerous combination that's made her a danger on the road, fender-benders being fairly common and her car not even having working running lights at night! Her unsafe driving is what convinced her best friend Christine to nominate her, as they commonly go out together and Angelina driving VERY often for long periods of time. Her rehab trip was one of the most abysmal runs ever seen on the show. With common traits such as screaming, panicking, and breaking down in tears, she was a hazard nearly any time she got into the wheel. Combined with a tendency to close her eyes and look away when something was about to happen, and it was no wonder why she was often running into as many objects a course had. There were even some challenges she either completely forgot what was taught, or downright QUIT! In the end, Angelina only passed ONE CHALLENGE OUT OF TWENTY THREE. Yes, you read that correctly, Angelina only passed one challenge (which even then was thanks to the assistance of Andrew, the show's host.) and failed or quit the other 22. The worst record in CWD history (since tied with Sholom Hoffman in Season 11). Capped all off with a final public drive where Angelina COMPLETELY broke down and was unable to finish the drive, and the writing was on the wall for one of the most lopsided victories of the unwanted title in the show's history. Andrew had even stated in a Q&A special before the airing of the 8th season that he considered Angelina the WORST of all the Worst Drivers up to that point.As you would expect, Angelina returned for the 9th season to find the worst EVER, but unfortunately her run would take a dark and tragic turn, and her dismal skills slowly stopped becoming a laughing matter. Eventually her deterioration led her to leave the show halfway through, perhaps the best decision for her in the long run.Enjoy!
When a Road Raging Mother became Canadas Worst Driver! ThunderTHR Plus 2019-02-07 | "F*ck! I hate this thing! Nobody should f*cking drive a f*cking Honda!"After 3 drivers who were absolutely terrible behind the wheel, Season 4 completely turns things around with a driver who actually has quite a bit of technical skill; Ashley van Ham. Why would someone who's clearly a step above the worst in driving ability be in rehab? Simple, she's an unapologetic road rager who causes havoc in the streets of Medicine Hat and FREQUENTLY gets into fights with her husband and nominator, Bryan.Ashley is also in rehab to better her driving and eliminate her road raging habits for her newborn son, Diesel. However, she is also keen to graduate before the final episode, as otherwise she would miss his first birthday, as this is brought up several times during the season.Her rehab trip showed that when she was able to focus and keep herself from getting worked up and angry, she was more than capable of passing several challenges. Unfortunately, thanks to Bryan's demeanor towards her, it became incredibly easy for Ashley to become rather volatile, which would end up sinking her driving ability. It was this reason as to what prevented her from ever graduating, even though she was shortlisted for graduation several times based on her technical abilities. Finishing off with a terrible Mega-Challenge where she completely broke down and began chewing out Bryan once again, and a dangerous final drive that put the citizens of Toronto in danger and finished with the alternator in Andrew's truck (the car Ashley was given to drive) dying, and it was enough to give her the very narrow decision to be named the worst (over another woman who was terrible behind the wheel), as she made no attempt to try and fix the one thing that hindered her ability.Ashley did not return for the 9th season.Enjoy!
When Canadas Worst Driver chose to Quit Driving! ThunderTHR Plus 2019-01-20 | "Just because I drive slowly, it doesn't make me to be a Canada Worst Driver!"Season 3 beings us the third recipient of the unwanted title of "Canada's Worst Driver"; Jason Zhang. Although he may be a travel agent, its very clear that Jason was NOT comfortable behind the wheel, and even when driving he had no peripheral vision, only looking at what's immediately straight ahead, giving himself an extreme case of "tunnel vision". Asides from also relishing gridlock, his driving is made worse thanks to his far too controlling husband, Adrian. Adrian had a case of often grabbing the wheel to try and "correct" Jason's driving, alongside constantly giving him advice and even PRAISING his driving even if it was terrible. His rehab was as you'd expect; Thanks to Adrian, he failed or was even disqualified from challenges, and even when he wasn't a nuisance, he still did very poorly, passing very few challenges. On top of it, he was very clueless as to his driving, not even remembering what was taught to him and at one point even wanting to quit rehab, but ultimately stayed. Top it off with a terrible final drive where he nearly broke Andrew's own truck, and not only did he get named the worst, he called it quits on his driving career.As a result, Jason did not return for the 9th season.Enjoy!

Right now!"Next up, its the 2nd holder of the dubious title of "Canada's Worst Driver"; Henrietta Gallant. Despite her many years of driving, Henrietta was never able to get comfortable behind the wheel, often leading into extreme amounts of stress, a primary cause of the many accidents she's had. If that weren't enough, its later revealed that she suffers from poor vision (20/100 vision), but insists that she does not need her glasses for driving. These, combined with blaming anything but herself for her poor driving, often wanting to quit challenges, and practically breaking down to the point she couldn't even finish the final road test, put the writing on the wall for Henrietta to be named the worst. Also included in the Supercut is her brief return in CWD Season 9. Did she make any improvement? Or was it still just as bad in Season 9 as it was in Season 2?Enjoy!
The First Winner of Canadas Worst Driver! ThunderTHR Plus 2018-12-21 | "Son of a motherless goat!"Canada's Worst Driver is one of my personal favourite shows. Its premise is simple; Take the lousiest drivers in the country of Canada, put them in a "driver rehabilitation centre", and throw them in a series of driving related tests and attempt to improve their driving ability. If they improve enough, they get to graduate and leave the rehab centre.. and if they don't, they will be named "Canada's Worst Driver".The series first aired in 2005, and has since aired 14 seasons of around 7-8 episodes since! These supercuts will first focus on those who were given the unwanted title of "Canada's Worst Driver".First up, is the first to ever be named the worst; Chris Ferguson. Chris only drove 4 times despite being a license holder for 13 years at the time, and as a result was not only completely inexperienced, but also could suddenly hit a nerve that affected his poor driving ability even further. It was this inexperience that paired him with being named the first "Worst Driver" in Canada. Also included in the Supercut is his brief return in CWD Season 9. Did he make any improvement?
