AMD Ryzen 3700X vs. 5900X - Cinebench R20, Cinebench R23, and 3DMark TimeSpy CPU Dave the DON 2022-05-02 | I just upgraded from an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X to a Ryzen 9 5900X. I did some before and afters in Cinebench R20, Cinebench R23, and 3DMark TimeSpy CPU. In hindsight, I should have done more! But here you go anyway.If you're wondering if you should spend the money on upgrading, you will feel it in both (CPU-bound) games and media productivity tasks. For example, even in GTA Online running at 1440p my FPS was more consistent right off the bat with the 5900X. In 1440p gains are less likely than in 1080p. However, in the Vinewood Blvd. section of the map, I was getting between 100-110 FPS over and back on the 5900X vs. ~90 with drops to nearly 60 in some spots of the street on the 3700X in busyish sessions. You'll notice GTA Online vs. GTA V Story that the latter is tougher to run. I believe the CPU has to work that bit harder in GTA Online. Again, in hindsight, I should have recorded before and after footage of this. Also, it's worth mentioning that the GTA Definitive Edition games still run like crap! 80s Mixtape Aircheck: First Show Broadcast LIVE from Home (Screen Recording - 20200328) Dave the DON 2020-03-29 | Since Ireland has gone into lockdown due to COVID-19 as of Saturday, March 28, 2020 at midnight, Limerick City Community Radio (LCCR - https://www.lccr.ie) has closed its doors and we're attempting to get as many shows out live from home. This was our first attempt using a combination of tools, including the requisite playout system, RadioDJ and a virtual mixer called Voicemeeter. We then streamed the feed to the main studio's playout system, SAM Broadcaster using a locally-hosted (at the station) Icecast server and then that went though the standard audio chain, and then finally out to air.It was tough getting used to controlling the virtual mixer with a mouse versus being hands-on with a physical one, but at least it worked for the most part, and practice makes perfect!I edited the processed broadcast audio into the video in post in place of the original unprocessed video audio during showtime. Also, due to a copyright issue, I had to edit out the segment of the show playing The Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop.

I use a Focusrite Scarlett Solo (3rd Gen) to get the processor's feed into the computer (and ultimately through Voicemeeter). If you listen closely enough, you'll realize like I just did that my de-esser was set a bit too harshly from tweaking it the other night with too much sibilance being cut (sounding as if I'm missing dentures!), but otherwise, it's a fantastic processor for what little it costs and the RE320 is a great mic. Any extra echo you you may hear back was due to the mic picking up the delayed VO from the cans (ooops).I didn't bother adjusting the audio and video to compensate for the obvious delay (due to the buffers in Voicemeeter and Stereo Tool), because I don't want to give anyone any unrealistic expectations of what this sort of setup entails.
