If you heard SUVs are cheap and you are looking for a cheap one, Jeep offered you the Cherokee Classic.
It may seem surprising now, but the small SUVs we think of now became successful only after a round of 2-door vehicles from Ford and GM; the Ford Bronco II, Chevy S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy. The Jeep Cherokee was the first 4-door mid-size SUV. When it became successful the Grand Cherokee really took over, creating the SUV boom. The Cherokee was kept around and sold at a much cheaper price.
Here it is offered as in a 2WD model with luxurious features such as power windows and A/C at a very low price. SUVs were growing out of the value phase at this point but some vehicles like this held the line.
This spot aired during KRON's show "Sit Down with Gary Radnich" directly after the 5th game of the Baseball World Series on NBC on October 23rd, 1997.
