Symphonium - Christian Death [Full Demo - 1994] RareMetalRarities 2025-09-01 | This Norwegian band came up with a really sick blend of death/doom and black metal. Unfortunately, this was the only demo they ever recorded, I would've loved to hear a follow up LP to "Christian Death".I believe they took some notes from Goatlord and decided to give it their own spin. Sometimes the drums sounds exactly like Goatlord, specially the kick drum. Burn Pile - Demo I [Full Demo - 2014] RareMetalRarities 2025-07-19 | Burn Pile hail from Washington in the US of A and you might not know how familiar you really are with this band. This demo is their only released material since the band members quickly went on to currently legendary acts such as Cerebral Rot, Mortiferum, Caustic Wound and Funebrarum. If you know the bands I've just mentioned, I don't think you need any introductions to this demo, but if not (first of all, what are you doing? Go listen to them) let me have a crack at it.Beefy, huge sounding, cavernous, raw death metal as it should be. You know I'm very apologetic of 80's and 90's death metal, but man there's some insane shit post 2000 too. Rawness definitely helps every other aspect in this demo, but the dynamic range of these guys is crazy too, from slow doom-y riffs to pummelling grinding bits. Formed in 1994, they've only released 2 demos, "Sarcasmus" being their first one.The opening track to this demo is almost misleading since it's essentially a deathgrind song while the rest of the demo is straight forward death metal. I have just one complain about this: the samples kinda suck :/ they're not interesting at all and break the pace built by the songs - specially when you have tracks like "The Northen Czech" that are 8min long with really varied passages, from straight foward to slow and melodic, and then have this weird sample about nothing before the following track... The length is pretty ideal, doesn't overstay its welcome nor has chance to try to do so much it fucks everything up. The vocals are low as fuck with some wraith-like higher bits (but never high screeches), the drums and guitars are always in good sync, beefy and, even if they don't do anything new, on point with the delivery. Curse - Demo 1993 [Full Demo - 1993] RareMetalRarities 2025-01-20 | Curse are a Swedish death metal band, have released 3 demos (this being their 3rd one), 1 LP and 1 compilation and are currently touring. Their original run lasted 7 years, from 1986 to 1993, during which they recorded the 3 demos. Years later, they got back together, recording their debut album and releasing it in 2017.Their sound is a very curious one and reminds me of Ripping Corpse - not necessarily on the aggression (although Curse have their moments too), but more on the approach to death metal. It's a very technical and "mechanical" style of riffing sometimes and it perfectly balances the more straight forward moments (that never really stop being technical). It also has some bits where it could totally be described as progressive, but I wouldn't go as far as saying that's their main deal here.These dudes definitely break the mold for Swedish death metal! I don't use the umbrella term "extreme metal" very often, but since Scald have played around within the genres of death, doom, sludge, industrial, drone and grindcore, I think it's fitting this time. Since their formation in 1993, Scald almost always remained active, having only a brief break between 2017 and 2020.This EP, the band's second release, is an interesting mix of death metal with sludgy and industrial influences. Rarely do they play straight forward riffs, there's always a break, a switch up or some other quirky thing. To me it really represents well that H.R. Cremate - End of Time [Full Demo - 1993] RareMetalRarities 2024-09-29 | Formed in 1991, Cremate are a Greek death metal band whose current output consists only of this demo and an EP released in 1995. The band originally split-up in 1996, but reformed in 2021 and are currently playing shows. However, they haven't released any new music since '95.This demo blends death/thrash with some huge melodic influences. Acid Death - Promo Demo 1993 [Full Demo - 1993] RareMetalRarities 2024-09-25 | Acid Death are a currently progressive/technical death metal band from Greece. Between their formation in '89, their split-up in 2001 and their reformation in 2011, Acid Death released 5 full-lengths, 3 EPs and 3 demos, along with some splits and a couple of single releases.Despite their current style being super techy and proggy, in their early years you can still hear the death/thrash-y groundwork that they started out with. They were always very technical and intricate with their riffs, sure, but manage it with a super straight forward finesse that doesn't really sound like wank bullshit to me - kind of in the same way as Ripping Corpse (actually, come to think of it, if you're into RC, you'll definitely like early Acid Death!) Mesentery - Demo 94 [Full Demo - 1994] RareMetalRarities 2024-09-21 | Mesentery were, as far as I know, a Swedish death metal band. This release isn't present on Metal Archives, but, analysing the logo here and the one present on the "Anal Intruder" demo artwork from another Swedish Mesentery, I think it's the same band.@larstangmark had uploaded this demo YEARS ago, but I liked it so much I wanted to highlight it once more. Super catchy swedish death metal, for fans of Crematory (swedish one ofc), Desultory and death metal that doesn't rely on exclusively low tuned guitars and low growly guitars.
