Anyone can be a 'Redneck', as it is more about a state-of-mind than a physical attribute. The engineering marvels, that are Monster Mud Trucks, along with their smaller UTV & ATV counterparts, all revel in the conquering and taming of almost impossibly soggy terrain, and traversing swamps and mud-bogs just because they are there. And when that's all taken care of, park along the edge of the swamp to chill & swill. It's all about camaraderie and revelry whether your from the 'burbs, the hood or the holler. Just don't expect to stay clean! This unique gathering and bonding of fellow mud-sloggers is not an official 'sport', or a 'sanctioned' activity, and thus is 'un-corporatized' and still undefined as anything other than a group of Redneck Revelers, reveling in the 'slingin' mud & swillin' suds and hangin' with your buds. REDNECK REVELRY LYRICS: by Matthew Greenwood We drive trucks that are jacked to the moon when they see us coming, they shiver & they swoon we like Slingin' mud & Swillin' Suds and hangin', bangin' ...wranglin' with our buds
We've twisted cranks and broke the bank cussed and hollered about all the dollars just to keep these beasts on the run they're temperamental giants, upon whom we're not reliant For Sunday, Monday, Tuesday grocery runs
Boggin' holes and Jelly Rolls, as far as the eyes can see Some folks say we're crazy, and that very well may be But if you take a good hard look, it's easy to see We're just havin' fun & gettin' 'er done It's called Redneck Revelry
Redneck Revelers, wild and free Some folks say we're crazy, and that very well may be But slingin' mud and swillin' suds and smoozin' with the crowd We're just hangin' out and gettin' loud Just Redneck ... Revelry
We're proud to fly the American Flag Our hero's wear Olive Drab Let's go .. let's go .... Let's Roll We're kin to souls, who tamed this wild frontier Overflowing with gratitude around here
Redneck Revelers, wild and free Some folks say we're crazy, and that very well may be and others say we're having too much fun that we must be breaking the law We're just Redneck Revelers committing Redneck Revelry
Redneck Revelers, forever free Standing tall, one and all, for what we believe Left alone is all we ever asked to be So roll on, and be gone, and don't Don't Tread On Me

Conclusion: Thanks again to everyone and anyone who helped and/or cheered on this project. There were many folks who lent a hand, offered ideas, and provided material and logistical assistance to making this all work. The Plant Bamboo Mud Park, in Okeechobee, FL, was super accommodating and made for a great venue for our filming of the Redneck Revelry music video. Jessica Underhill made the video process so much easier by graciously ushering us around the Mud Park and knowing all the 'hot spots' to be. Many thanks to Jessica for that. Also, many thanks to Penny Martin, of Penny Martin Photography, (One of the very best photographers of Mud Trucks in Action) for all of here help in getting us in touch with the right people and serving as a mentor in the making of this music video. Revisiting a wonderful song from the past. Dickey Betts wrote this song 'Good Time Feeling' and recorded & released it in 1978. The song immediately became a favorite of mine. For many years our band opened every show we played with this song. It seemed to be a great tune for the band to get in the groove on (Greasing The Tracks), and to set a good vibe for the evenings show. Songs tend to evolve over time, and this version is the result of years of tweaking and trying different things. When I started thinking about recording a new version of this song, I had in mind giving it a Southern Gospel feel. Good Time Feeling seemed to fall into that Gospel feel quite easily. The horn section adds to that Gospel/Mardi Gras feel that we were going for. Many thanks to all the talented musicians who participated in the making of this recording. A special thanks to Jeff 'Doc' Thal, who not only played the drums and percussion on this recording, but also did executed all of the engineering/mixing of the numerous tracks that were recorded. This recording is dedicated to the memory of two of our recently departed friends, John Henry & Wayne Jones. John Henry was a very talented drummer and vocalist with whom I played thousands of gigs with, in our band 'The Hurricanes' over an almost 20 year period. John and I truly became like brothers, having spent so much time together making our music. John left us on February 21st 2020 at the age of 66. Wayne Jones was a long-time friend, both as an enthusiastic supporter of our live music, but also as one of our 'Band of Brothers' from our Camping Tribe at the ever-popular 12 Hours of Sebring Race in Sebring, FL. Wayne was co-founder of the 'Sarasota Racing & Drinking Enthusiasts' association (SRDE) and had camped trackside at the the Sebring Track for 50 years, enjoying European Style SportsCar Racing and the fine art of 'round-the-clock revelry'. Wayne had recently been honored in the official 2020 Sebring Raceway Program as the 'Fan Of The Year' recipient. Wayne was thrilled to receive this very notable award, as were all of us in the LaBomba/SRDE camps. There are both direct and referenced musical motifs from the recording careers of brothers Duane & Gregg Allman, dating back to 1969. This song is intended to honor the brother’s incredible contributions to the musical world and to the enduring legacy that they helped put into motion. This song is in memory of Duane & Gregg Allman, but also by extension, a tribute to the entire Allman Brothers Band Family. I was fourteen years old in 1969. I’ll never forget the day that we were hanging out in the old Siesta Key Village when someone started talking about this new band that had just released their first album, and that the band had ties to our town of Sarasota, FL. We went over to someone’s house that had the album, self-titled, The Allman Brothers Band, and I was captivated immediately. It was a sound that I had never heard, and I was instantly hooked. I was fortunate enough to hear them couple of times in Sarasota, in 69 & 70, once at Robarts Sports Arena, and once at The Municipal Auditorium where BB King opened for the Brothers. The energy and power these guys were able to generate was otherworldly. I believe that there are at least 10 vignettes or motifs referenced in this song. One of the riffs pre-dates the ABB era. Duane Allman has always been one of my top tier guitar heroes, and his brother, Gregg Allman an equal inspiration for his expressive song writing, and for his mirror-to-the-soul vocals. I never knew Duane Allman personally, but through his music, and everything that I have read about him, he was an intense, and intensely passionate and happy, man. He lived life with extreme gusto and verve, and with a ‘devil-may-care’ attitude. It was his vision, his dream, to create the band that became the Allman Brothers Band, and with this song ‘A Brother’s Dream’, I hope to capture a little of that effervescent spirit and indomitable energy that was Duane Allman. If inspired to do so, please consider giving a donation to the Big House Museum to help keep that unique shrine to the original Allman Brothers Band alive for generations to come. thebighousemuseum.com/donate A special thanks to all who participated in this project with me, including Mike Kach, Gregg Voorhees, Jeff Thal, Bruce Glasberg, Kevin Celebi, and Eddie Kinder. ( Recorded with no pedals, plugged straight from guitar into amp. )This is the Roland Blues Cube Hot, with 30W max, but a power selector switch for 0.5W, 5W, 10W & 30W. I always have been a tube amp guy, and for all the obvious reasons. But, I wanted to check out something small, easy to transport, and something still gig worthy. I was especially wanting something that would work well with my Slide Guitar tone. I needed that sustaining overdrive for slide work, but I didn't want to have to use a bunch of gain to get there, and loose the bite and articulation in the process. This amp has an inspiring clear overdrive that provides lots of sustain, but without sounding over-compressed or harsh. It's a good thing when you plug into an amp and like it immediately, and that was the case with this Roland Blues Cube Hot. These Roland Blues Cube Hot amps are certainly worth checking out. This recording was done by playing a YouTube backing track video and playing along with it while recording using my iPhone 6 for the recording device. Please always be careful using power tools and always wear your safety equipment, i.e. eye, ear, & breathing protection. Gerry Groom was living in Sarasota, FL at the time &handed me this 2 song cassette tape he had just finished recording. The songs are, Woke Up This Morning & Corrina, Corrina. Gerry was a Child Prodigy and protégé of Duane Allman. Duane had told Gerry that if anything ever happened to him, he wanted Gerry to have his Gibson SG that Duane did most, or all, of his open tuning slide work on. Gerry did have the guitar for many years, and played it out often much to everyone's delight. He eventually sold the guitar to Graham Nash. Gerry had offered to sell me the SG for 5K at a time when he was in a financial bind. I couldn't put my hands on that kind of money, and guitars weren't as insanely collectible as they were soon to become. In hindsight, duh, I should have figured out a way to come up with the cash. Gerry died untimely at a young age, (Feb. 11th 1992) from a Scuba Diving incident. I was fourteen years old and was at the ABB concert in Sarasota when Duane invited Gerry up on stage to sit in with the Brothers.
JERRY ROSS INTERVIEW WITH GERRY GROOM:
JR: Then what happened?
GG: Well, Duane Allman and the Allman Brothers came to town. I was totally captivated by Duane and, like a bunch of other little kids, I hung around the stage and caught every show. I found out where he and the band were staying and I sneaked in and knocked on Duane’s door. Keep in mind that I’m around 16-17 years old at this time. Duane invited me in (I had my guitar in tow) and he asked me to play some with him. 5 minutes of so. He took an instant liking to me and called me “little brother.” He liked my playing so much that he asked me if I would come to their concert in Sarasota at Robert Arena the following week and get up onstage with them for a couple of tunes. I couldn’t believe it. Here I was being asked to play with Duane Allman . . . by Duane himself! JR: So here you are, 17 years old, playing with the Allmans. Did you play any other dates with them and how were you received by the rest of the band?
GG: Well, I always felt that I didn’t belong with the band, although they all liked and accepted me. I think some of them resented Duane’s liking me so much and consequently I never would travel with them. Instead, I would hitchhike around the country and “just show up” at Kansas City, San Francisco, etc. Duane would know this and he would slip me a $100.00 here and there. I was in an unbelievable position being this close to Duane and I was in heaven. He was a tremendous person.
JR: And then the tragic accident.
GG: Absolutely. Very devastating. I had lost a real friend.
JR: I guess the attitude of the band changed a little toward you after that. GG: Yes, somewhat. It was interesting because at Duane’s funeral they were going to bury his ’62 SG Les Paul with him. It was the guitar he used on “Statesboro Blues” and all of his great slide work, However Gregg remembered that Duane had told him that he wanted me to have this guitar if anything ever happened to him and I’ve had it ever since. JR: You are the owner of one of the most classic guitars in rock history? GG: Yes, and it is very rare because it is made out of one solid piece of wood (the neck and the body are one piece). The tone that this natural wood produces is unmistakable and almost impossible to copy through any amplifier setting. I use it quite a bit. JR: Can you tell me an interesting story about you and Duane? GG: Yeah. I was sitting with Duane in his hotel room in Jacksonville and we were joking around one night. The rest of the guys in the band were going out on the town and Duane and I were sitting in his room. This was right around the time when the Layla album was out and The Allman Brothers Band Live at the Fillmore East had just been recorded. Jokingly, I told Duane that he really needed to work on his slide playing. He looked at me straight-faced and said, “You know, little brother, you’re right,” and he got up, unplugged his electric guitar and went into the bathroom. He closed the door and stayed in there playing slide guitar by himself for the next five hours or so. JR: The burden and the debt to Duane must be tremendous. GG: It is, especially when I remember Duane introducing me to Eric Clapton as his hope for the future. Duane created in me a feeling of always giving it my best shot. JR: Any chance you would be a part of any Allman Brothers reunion to form a new band? GG: Yes, as long as the brotherhood aspect was sincere, as was Duane’s intention. I even remember that their music crates and cases used to have "The All Bros Band” printed on the side of them.Siesta Key Drum Circle - Fabulous Hula Hoop Dance - Siesta Beach HoopersMatthew Greenwood2014-10-13 | Sunday, Oct. 12th 2014, sunset at Siesta Beach, Siesta Key, Sarasota, FL celebrated by the Siesta Key Drum Circle. Was cleaning out the garage and found our old Hurricane Band demo CD that we recorded back in the year 2002. This version of the Hurricanes Band came together when Matt Peterson (drums) and Mike Hensley (keys) asked me to join them at Matt's house to jam some material just for fun. We'd been hanging out and playing for awhile, and things began to sound like we could maybe consider playing out. Matt P kept telling us about this lady who was his personal fitness trainer at the gym and that she told him she was a singer when he mentioned that he was involved in this jam thing. We knew we needed someone to front the band so we kept bugging Matt to ask his trainer to come by the house some night. It seems like it was forever before we made the connection, but man, when Gyll Perkins stepped in the practice room that first meeting we were immediately in awe of her statuesque and stunningly good looks. When she grabbed a mic and dug into a few R&B tunes, we knew we had hit pay dirt. We were so lucky to have found Gyll and we had a really great run with the band for the next several years and had tons of fun in the process. We were super green when we recorded this, but we had a ball doing some bar dates as well as some nice corporate events and private parties. The Hurricanes Band lineup on this Demo CD were: Matthew Greenwood - Guitars & Vocals Mike Hensley - Keyboards & keyboard bass Gyll Perkins - Vocals & Percussion Matthew Peterson - Drum
Later on we added a bass guitar player, Greg Voorhees, who held that spot for about the final two years of the band. The songs on this CD are: 01. Something to Talk About - Bonnie Raitt 02.
