This is a fun one that my mom has been making every thanksgiving for years. She got the recipe from my aunt on my dad's side, and while I'm not sure of it's origin, it definitely has a 1950's feel to it. Hope you enjoy! Stir in 1 cup cold water. Add cranberry and pineapple. Pour into mold and refrigerate until set up. Mix sour cream with softened cream cheese until smooth. Add water to syrup to make 2 cups. Heat 1 cup of mixture to boiling; add raspberry gelatin and stir to dissolve. Then add remaining syrup mixture. Pour gelatin mixture into a 6 1/2 or 7 cup mold, or pour equal amounts into individual molds. Chill till firm.Meanwhile dissolve lemon gelatin in 1 cup boiling water; add lemonade concentrate. Blend in mayonnaise. Chill till partially set; then stir in fruit cocktail. Pour over first layer and chill till firm. Unmold individual salads on rings of pineapple, and trim each with a ruffle of leaf lettuce. For elegance, serve salads on platter centered with luscious, fruit-filled Honeydew Bowl. I got a PO box! Love is in the air, so I thought it would be fun to try out a vintage Valentine's Day recipe from my 1959 Better Homes and Gardens Holiday Cookbook. Nothing says 1950's Valentine's Day better than Strawberry Jello Hearts. Better Homes & Gardens Holiday Cookbook 1959Recipes:Gelatin Heart Cutouts-Dissolve 1 package cherry, strawberry, OR raspberry gelatin in 2 cups hot water. Pour into shallow dish- gelatin should be a little less than 1/2 inch deep. Chill until firm. Cut out hearts with a cookie cutter. Strawberry Hearts-1 10oz package frozen strawberries, thawed1 package strawberry flavored gelatin2 cups heavy cream, whipped9 gelatin heart cutouts Drain strawberries, reserving syrup. Add water to syrup to make 1 cup; heat until simmering. Dissolve gelatin in hot liquid; add drained strawberries. Chill till partially set. Fold whipped cream into gelatin mixture. Pour into heart shaped individual molds, chill until set. I mold. Top with gelatin heart cutouts. Top with whipped cream and reserved strawberries. Vintage Baking- Treats for the Neighbors Laci Fay The Vintage Girl Next Door 2020-12-14 | Let's do some Christmas baking! We're making some treats for the neighbors in this week's video. I tried my hand at fudge, spritz cookies, and gingerbread cookies. Hope you enjoy this vintage baking episode!Remarkable Fudge:4 cups sugar1 2/3 cup evaporated milk1 cup butter or margarine1 12 oz package semisweet chocolate pieces1 pint marshmallow creme1 tsp vanilla1 cup broken walnutsButter sides of 3 qt saucepan. In it combine sugar, milk, and butter. Cook over medium heat to soft-ball stage (236) stirring frequently.Remove from heat and add chocolate, marshmallow creme, vanilla, and nuts. Beat till chocolate is melted and blended. Pour into a buttered 9x9x2 pan. Score in squares, while warm, cut when firm.Spritz cookiesThoroughly cream 1 1/2 cups butter or margarine and 1 cup sugar. Add 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla, and 1/2 tsp almond extract, beat well. Sift together 4 cups flour and 1 tsp baking powder, add gradually to creamed mixture, mixing to a smooth dough. Don't chill!Force dough through cookie press onto ungreased cooky sheet. Bake in hot oven 400 degrees 8-10 min.Soft Gingerbread cookies2 1/4 cups flour2 tsp ginger1 tsp baking soda3/4 tsp cinnamon1/2 tsp cloves1/4 tsp salt3/4 cup butter softened1 cup white sugar1 egg1 tbsp water1/4 cup molasses4 tbsp white sugarPreheat oven to 350mix dry ingredients and set asidecream butter and sugar, add in water and molasses. Gradually stir in dry ingredients. Roll dough into walnut sized balls and roll in sugar. Bake 2 in apart on ungreased cookie sheet 10-12 min.There are now T-shirts available on my Teespring store!!
