Equally I have used Zinsser 123 primer, before top coating / painting with Zinsser Perma White. Custoner specified a satin finish, although I prefer airless spraying a ceiling in a matt finish. Do You Call It Plaster or Joint Compound? PaintHQ 2025-07-06 | Plaster or joint compound? What do you call it? Here’s my understanding — In the UK we use the generic term ‘to plaster’ or ‘plastering’. Which also can refer to skimming walls or skim a ceiling, which essentially is what North America would call skim coat. In the US — drywall compound, joint compound or ‘mud’ is similar (but not the same) to what the UK would generically call plaster. Anybody, please correct me if I’m wrong 😄 In the US / Canada, you have ‘red top’ all purpose — with more glue to the compound for taping and jointing. Then ‘Blue top’ lightweight finishing compound.. In this video I’m using a Beissier product, made in France. Bagar Airliss LF — like Airliss G, a finishing / smoothing compound, so no glue and not recommended for taping. Bagar Airliss LF has more glide Vs Airliss G, and sands that bit smoother. All the Bagar Airliss range can be spray applied, designed for airless spray application. It’s a professional airless paint sprayer, and it’s important to understand when to not overwork the QuickShot and opt for a bigger airless paint sprayer..Here I’m spraying a small area of masonry, applying smooth masonry paint with the Graco QuickShot at LOW pressure, and back rolling. The low pressure is reducing the amount of ‘bounce back’ overspray, yes I’m getting tails, but a nice spray pattern is not important because I’m back rolling with a small rough surface, heavy pile roller 👍 Working at height off a ladder, with the QuickShot using a belt and holster, it’s quicker and easier than using a paint scuttle..
