But hey, it's progress ain't it!A friend of mine had the idea of combining Answers with Close in the Distance, and I thought I might as well give it a shot, since both of these songs thematically fit very well with each other. After playing Endwalker, the messages of Answers and Close in The Distance became a lot more clear, with Answers talking about Hydaelyn/Venat's sacrifice, and Close in the Distance sort of being the resolution to her, and your entire arc with her. This blending of messages we thought would honestly be perfect as the conclusion to a several year-long arc, and I don't think there could be a better sendoff.I immediately wanted to do a more retro synth cover of this because I mean hey, it's in space and all and space is pretty synth-y in nature. I dunno, when I think space I just kinda think synth space opera in terms of soundtrack y'know?I actually tried including the distorted version of Ultima Thule's theme that you hear when you first enter the area, and the Answers melody was partly inspired by the 1.0 version of it when everything goes to hell, which thematically seemed honestly pretty fitting. This song tells a tragic story of a forgotten civilization and I pretty much wanted to do it justice, so I did everything I could to make sure I was able to tell the same sort of story. Were it not for the inputs of some of my friends actually I don't think I would've done as good a job as I could've on this one. Overall I'm very proud and I had a lotta fun with this one, I hope you enjoy it too! This was also my first time recording vocals but even though it was just whispers it really woke me up to the fact that I really need a better mic haha.
