Set before New Hope on a far away forest planet called Fedje, where a small team of rebels, led by one of the surviving Jedi, found an ancient abandoned Jedi Temple in one of the not inhabited areas of the planet.
Unfortunately for them, soon after they arrive in the Temple, Emperor's Sith Assassin - Starkiller (This film goes more with the Force Unleashed DLC story rather than the new canon, so there is no Inquisitorius etc. and Starkiller isn't a secret apprentice anymore, but a known Sith in the Empire), arrives with an Imperial fleet to kill the Jedi and Rebels and to make sure that all the forgotten knowledge and findings that can be located in the Temple, will go straight to the Emperor...

Since my last showreel was super outdated, including only my uni work, here's a new one, that actually has SOME of my professional work in it, unfortunately not the previs shots themselves but the final shots.
Also, I've worked on many more shows since the ones shown in the showreel, but they're still under NDA and haven't yet premiered.

There are many things I think could be improved to make this look better, but this had to be done in a week so it was quite rushed.
The inspiration for this short-film actually came from Forza Horizon 4. I was playing with a friend and we ended up doing a race that starts uphill with old Ford Anglias, and when the race started, we hit the gas and yet we started rolling backwards. I think the max speed we achieved during that race was 40mph. That said, it was one of the funniest races I ever did and I thought why not, let's make an animation out of it.
- CREDITS - If not credited below, then probably made by me :D That includes stuff like animations, cinematography, camera animations etc.
If I forgot to credit something, then please let me know and I'll update it asap!

It also takes inspiration from few other things: Immortality Drive - 'a large memory device which was taken to the International Space Station in a Soyuz spacecraft on October 12, 2008. The Immortality Drive contains fully digitized DNA sequences of a select group of humans. The intent of the Immortality Drive is to preserve human DNA in a time capsule, in case some global cataclysm should occur on Earth. (Wikipedia)' - As of now, we have this drive, but we cannot really do much with it if something would really happen on Earth. As this animation happens in the future (If you’re keen-eyed you can actually find out what year it is by watching the short-film), I took it a step further where we cannot yet create humans but we’re able to transfer the brain into a robot. So now, NASA has these two robots stationed outside of Earth that in case something indeed happens on Earth, will be ‘injected’ with digitized brains of two selected humans. Their mission will be to continue the research into creating humans with the DNA from the Immortality Drive. And similar to the story of Adam and Eve, these two will again be the origin of humanity.
The ‘tin-foil-hat-theory’ that we came from Mars – There is a theory that a long time ago humanity lived on Mars, and then something catastrophic happened, killing almost everyone and making Mars into the barren wasteland that it is today. According to this theory, two humans (Adam and Eve) were able to escape Mars to Earth were they reproduced and re-created humanity. I think you can see how this became an inspiration for this story :D
Recent claim of some scientists (Although it already has been debunked few times) – Not a long time ago, some scientists claimed that they found evidence of a mass extinction that happened about 200,000 years ago and that we all come from a single pair of humans from around that time. Again, I think you can see why this became an inspiration for this.

Some animations (Walk and the idling animations at the end) are from Mixamo
Adam – Unity / Oats Studios - For anyone wondering why I'm using this model, it's because the way he looks felt really fitting to my story. I'm not a 3D Modeller so I wouldn't be able to do such a great job at making a totally new original robot. Also this is a student short film, and I was graded not on 3D Modelling but animation, cinematography and lighting so when I saw that you can actually download Adam from Unity Store, I just had to do it... I didn't see anything in the EULA and ToS about taking it into the other engine, only about not using it in any commercial work. Again, this being a student short film, it was made for my degree, I didn't make and I'm not planning on making any money off it. I didn't expect this little film of mine to gain that much views though :P
Epic Unreal Engine 4.22 – Rendering – I was hoping to use RTX (I’ve got a GTX1080), and I could get it to work in the editor but it would crash constantly. The reflections and his eyes were MAGNIFICENT :D That said, I was able to use RTX shadows (If rendered in 2K and not 4K) which actually didn’t do that much of a change, unless you’re actually looking for it (There are so many lights in the corridor that it looks like a smooth raytraced shadow :D), but it was able to fix some issues with non-raytraced lights that I had before. That’s why I decided to use them nonetheless and render in 2K.

And yes, Planet Earth was made by BBC not National Geographic but I couldn't resist after a thought of "Universal Geographic" and that logo came to my mind.

Meow.CHASE | Car Visualization | Unreal Engine 4 | 4KShain Animations2018-02-17 | We had a "specialization" module on my 2nd year animation course at Escape Studios, and we could TECHNICALLY do whatever we wanted. Most of the other students went with creature or character animations but I decided to go with something else that would help me challenge myself and develop my cinematography/camera animations skills more.
Fortuitously a friend of mine, Marek, was modelling a car and he was going to finish by the time this module starts, so I thought - why not, let's do a car visualization! (Like in the old days... As we did two other car vizs before, you can find them on my channel for now - Until I'll decide to remove them because I'm ashamed of them, cos they are old and awful :D)
So I watched some car commercials and movies, and I ended up getting highly inspired by the Pennzoil ads (Which are amazing, you should check them out). Also there were meant to be interior shots as well (Pedals, stick shifting etc.) but Futuro doesn't have an interior, and the Elegy doesn't have a good enough interior. So here's the outcome, tell me what you think in the comments below ❤

I was going to use the walk cycle but it ended up being too slow so I had to create a run cycle anyway.
The environment was rendered in UE4 but I couldn't import the dino rig into UE4 so I rendered it in V-Ray and then composed them together.Star Wars: The Escape | Fan-Made Animation / Cinematic | Unreal Engine 4 | 4KShain Animations2017-11-13 | Here's another Star Wars animation. I really have to stop doing Star Wars related stuff :D I had to reupload this because of some weird issues with the previous version.
What the hell is this animation about? Two Dark Jedi. This is a prequel to my previous animation called "Star Wars: Dark Jedi". Just like the sequel, this is set during the Jedi Purge (Between Revenge Of The Sith and New H… Rogue One), that's why they are always on the run from the Galactic Empire. I have an entire backstory for these two guys written somewhere, I might upload it at some point.
What the hell are those cuts to black? I wanted to show that the time has passed between the two scenes, and I thought this would be the best way to do it. I think I might have failed at this.
What the hell is Starkiller doing here? I always was a big fan of Galen Marek/Starkiller and I’d love if he’d be brought back to canon but I understand he’s way to OP for that to happen. But I thought I’d use him in my animation (After all, this is fan-made, not canon so who cares). I preferred the Dark Side Ending in TFU2 and so in here, he’s still Vader’s apprentice or a Sith Inquisitor. He’s not being attacked by Stormtroopers like in TFU because by the end of the Dark Side Ending in TFU2, he was even escorted by TIEs so it seems they already knew who he is.
What the hell is Greedo doing here? This isn’t Greedo. It’s Entwan Windsmuggler, he’s an inside joke for me and few of my friends.
Where the hell did you get the models from EA BF? There’s an amazing forum that I found (Special thanks to Corra_Ashu, badhorse, Rancor022 and the rest :3)
What the hell did you use to make this? I did everything inside of Autodesk Maya 2017, plus a plugin AdvancedSkeleton for rigging and ZvParentMaster for well… parenting stuff. Then I imported everything into Unreal Engine 4 where I rendered everything in the Sequencer. Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro and I used Adobe Audition (For the first time) for sound mixing etc.
Who the hell are you? I’m an undergraduate student, studying The Art Of Animation in Escape Studios in London, who loves Star Wars and is very passionate about filmmaking and cinematography. I want to become a DoP for Game Cinematics in future. And I love cats. They will rarely be Star Wars animations though.
So today in class we were supposed to animate a rig throwing a ball. I thought I'll take it a tiny bit further and I came up with this.Warehouse Shootout | Unreal Engine 4 CinematicShain Animations2017-06-16 | After all this time I decided to finally try and render my animations in Unreal Engine and so here is my first attempt in doing so. I wanted to switch over to rendering in Unreal rather than in V-Ray because of the rendering times since after all Unreal is a real-time renderer, and now with the Camera Sequencer it was a perfect moment. Also I love atmospherics/volumetric fogs but I always had to limit myself in using it because in renderers like V-Ray or Arnold they add a lot of rendering time and in the newest version of Unreal (4.16) they added real-time volumetric fog and I think that was the final "push" for me to go and finally switch over, and as you can see in this animation, I abused the hell out of it :D
