Ravenswood Marbles Identifications! Stephen Bahr 2025-03-31 | Here we unpack and identify vintage Ravenswood Novelty glass marbles that were dug up and collected by David Tamulevich at the Ravenswood, W.V. dump site in the 1990’s. We work with the best marbles from the 60,000 marbles that David accumulated. The nicknamed “Ravens” group is carefully examined here and we look at all of the variations found. We sort and separate all models that are uniquely Ravenswood-made and identifiable to collectors, and discover a few types that may be new to collectors of the hobby.Many of the Ravenswood marbles featured here are compared with similar Alley Agates, Champion Agates and other notable West Virginia swirl marbles companies. L.E. Alley from the Alley Agate Company first began producing marbles here, shortly before starting the Alley Agate company in the 1930’s, making some sorting and identifying rather challenging! Stephen Bahr 2024-07-21 | This is the first in a series of shorts that show some of the more interesting Vacor De Mexico mixed net bag examples from the current “Traditional Marbles” net bags stock with the round yellow header. Many of these examples are not company marketed names, but informal nicknames by collectors from the “Vacor Marbles Fan Group” on Facebook.com. These names are documented by Andy Mc Laughlin, author of “For The Love Of Vacors” book, several of these examples are featured in the second edition of the book.
Mid-Atlantic Marbles Identifications Stephen Bahr 2024-06-18 | In this video we explore the marble-making history behind Mid-Atlantic Glass of West Virginia Inc. and identify the marbles they produced. Here we take a close look at all of the marbles Mid-Atlantic was known to make. Including their decorative glass gems / flats, decorative irridized marbles, crackled marbles and the different examples of the collectable 9-11 swirl marble run they produced for one day in September of 2001.We also present and describe the only known Mid-Atlantic marbles packaged products related to the company. All other Mid-Atlantic marbles were either sold loose, in bulk cardboard boxes or unlabeled poly bags.Mid-Atlantic Glass of West Virginia was founded in 1937, and was best known for hand-blown glassware and its crystal glass stemware production for decades in Ellenboro, West Virginia. Stephen Bahr 2023-06-30 | In this video, we sit down with storied owner and C.E.O. of Marble King Industries Inc. “The Marble Queen” Beri Fox!This interview was filmed at the 2023 National Marbles Tournament in Wildwood, NJ. This is the 100th year of the organized event for children from 7 to 14 years old. Beri explains Marble King’s involvement as a prominent sponsor of the tournament, and shows us historical artifacts from the Wildwood National Marbles Tournament Museum.We discuss some of Beri’s favorite modern marble models produced during her tenure as owner, continuing since 1983. After racking up some marbles and shooting them down, we look at several vintage Marble King marbles from the Jason Greer and Stephen Bahr collections. Most of these were produced by Beri’s father Roger Howdyshell, who had overseen Marble King’s day to day operations starting in 1949, and later became full owner of the company.Special thanks to the National Marbles Tournament! Champion Marbles Identifications w/ David Tamulevich “The Stutsman Files” Stephen Bahr 2023-03-20 | In this video we take a close look at the Champion Agate Marbles that were produced in the 1980’s and possibly 90’s, which were sold off to dealer Charlie Stutmam of Evansville , Illinois …and appeared in his marbles catalog in the 1990’s. David Tamulevich is our guide, and we tour his personal marbles collection and look at nearly all the Champion marbles that were being sold by Stutsman at that time. These hard-to-find West Virginia Swirls were purchased, labeled and preserved by Tamulevich decades ago!Stutsman created his own marketing nicknames for most of these marbles and we present them here as we work through the catalog. 30-year old Stutsman’ Champion nicknames like “Pumpkin”, “Red Clouds”, “Gypsey” and others are all inspected, photographed and shown. Jackson Marbles Identifications with Ron Shepherd Stephen Bahr 2023-03-04 | The Jackson Marble Company was a short-lived West Virginia glass marbles company from Pennsboro, W.V. which was in operation from 1945-1946. In this video we work with Ron Shepherd and David Tamulevich as we tour their Jackson marbles collections and describe, identify and discuss the marbles Jackson was known to produced. This promising West Virginia Swirl company wasn’t around long enough to produce many color combinations in their marbles, making their marbles rare to find, and their marble models list relatively short with some being very distinctive. The company, owned by Carroll Jackson had difficulty finding customers to sell their marbles and many were thought to have been sold off in bulk, along with their mesh packaging bags to the neighboring Playrite Marble and Novelty Company as they closed for business. We look at all of Jackson’s known marble examples in this video, and present our “Super Seven” picks of their most sought-after and collectable “Unique to Jackson” marbles. Heaton • Bogard Cat’s Eye Marbles & curiosities with David Tamulevich Stephen Bahr 2022-11-25 | In this video we discuss and identify the Heaton Company and Bogard Company Cat’s Eye marbles, and the collectable Onionskin, “Halloween” and “Sulphide” type marbles produced in Cairo, W.V. We also discuss the industrial marbles produced at the Nutter Farm location and look at some examples of Heaton Agate and Bogard packaging. We are joined by David Tamulevich and Dave McCullough for some exclusive insights on the factory, which was producing vintage machine-made marbles between 1946 to approximately 1986.
