In this video I show you the cheapest way to capacity test a LiFePO4 battery using a $20 battery shunt. This method works for any battery whether it is 12,24, or 48V. If you have ever wondered whether your battery delivers the capacity written on the label, this is how you find out.
I walk you through the full process. How to wire the shunt between your battery negative and inverter, how to fully charge your LiFePO4 battery before testing, how to pick the right load for a 0.2C discharge rate, and how to know when the test is finished. I also explain what your result means, why a healthy new battery often reads over 100 percent, and what to check if your capacity comes in low.
You need a battery shunt, an inverter, and a load such as a small space heater. Nothing else. The whole test takes about 5 hours for a 100Ah battery and costs you 20 dollars in equipment.
