I've been switching to stainless steel hardware little by little over the years. It might not make sense economically for a for-profit business, or a project where the wood isn't expected to last very long, but I'm a hobby woodworker and I want to make stuff that lasts as long as possible. Furthermore, carrying multiple types of the same screw eats up extra space in my workshop and I'd rather use that space for something that I know isn't going to rust.
