Granbury Ghosts and Legends Tour (2015)
According to the history books, Jesse James died in 1882 and John Wilkes Booth died in 1865. According to Granbury, Texas, neither one of those stories is quite finished. The Granbury Ghosts and Legends Tour walks you through both legends, and a whole lot more, right on the historic square.
Local lore claims Jesse James faked his own death and lived out his final years in Granbury, dying at the age of 104. Then there's John Wilkes Booth, said to have taken on a new identity as a bartender named John St. Helen. Inside the Granbury Opera House, one balcony seat is famous for folding down on its own, as if Booth, or whoever claimed to be him, never really left.
