So if you just want the yes or no answer to whether a civil engineering degree is worth it, to me, yes absolutely it is. However, I will say that it depends on whether or not you actually enjoy the material being taught. But to me, that goes for all degrees out there, we need to be studying and majoring in degrees that we are actually interested in, especially if it is putting us at a financial disadvantage.

1. The world will always need civil engineers
At least in your and my lifetime, civil engineers will always be needed. At its core civil engineers improve the way civilians live; and that will always be the case. We as individuals always want to be improving our quality of life. The world is constantly going through a cycle of building, improving and fixing and civil engineers are part of that process.

2. As a civil engineer you make decent money with just your bachelors degree
There are some degrees out there that require a higher level degree than just a bachelors to make a livable salary; not so much in civil engineering. Civil engineering salaries for entry level civil engineers according to Glassdoor is around $75,000 with $50,000 on the low end and over six figures on the high end. And there's nothing more important than getting a head start on your financial future and learning to build wealth in your 20s.

3. Civil engineering is diversified
Even within the degree of civil engineering, you have a lot of options for engineering to specialize in. You have construction engineering, structural engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, and a few more. And each one allows you to branch out further than just engineering so there are so many career opportunities out there if you just have the civil engineering degree.

4. Civil engineering is not as hard and demanding as other engineering
So this is just my opinion, but it seems like civil engineering is not as complex and demanding as the other engineering disciplines out there Granted this may depend on the class, professor or even college that you go to, but the concepts of civil engineering are basic in nature and to me, very intuitive.

5. The engineering degree prestige
There's something to be said about an individual who was able to graduate with a degree in engineering. Employers know that this is one of the tougher degrees to obtain that requires a level of problem solving that translates well into the workplace. It's just a great degree to have.
