In this step-by-step guide, I’ll show you how to replace the iPhone 17 Pro Max front camera assembly and fix common issues like front camera black screen, blurry selfies, FaceTime selfie camera not working, and Face ID not available errors.
This repair covers safe disassembly, screen removal, disconnecting the display and sensor cables, removing the cooling plate, replacing the front camera / TrueDepth module, and testing everything before final reassembly. After installation, I’ll also show you how to run Repair Assistant calibration so the new front camera module works properly and Face ID can return to normal operation.
If your iPhone 17 Pro Max selfie camera won’t focus, shows a black image, freezes in the Camera app, or Face ID says Unable to activate Face ID or shows a TrueDepth camera error, this tutorial will help you replace the faulty module correctly.
