If you've never grown gem squash (aka Rolet squash, or Little Gem Rolet trailing squash) I highly recommend growing this beautiful round green squash variety. In my opinion it's one of the best tasting squash and veggies out there! Gently sweet, comforting, smooth and creamy. More moist than dry, yet not watery. It's somewhere between a winter squash and a summer squash: winter squash because of its hard skin, but a summer squash since it needs warmth and heat to really thrive and is best picked before the weather cools. I really think it's one of the best squash to eat; one of the tastiest squash for baking or boiling.
Whether you're in the UK like me, in South Africa, America, Australia or anywhere else in the world, this video shows my vegetable gardening suggestions & recommendations for growing gem squash from seed, through to Cucurbita pepo seedling and to fully grown plant. You can start planting gem squash seeds at home, in pots / containers or in the ground. And as you'll see: "Can you grow gem squash in uk even outdoors?" Yes! I hope my 15 tips will be helpful to you on your growing adventure :)

We look at the journey from grocery store-bought Red Fuseau tubers, to tiny sprouts, baby plants and all the way to a full grown Jerusalem artichoke plant, grown in fabric containers. Our tallest reached 8 feet in height! This video may be useful to anyone interested in growing sunchokes in pots or containers.
I've added the months and timings to give a time frame idea of when to plant your Jerusalem artichokes and what to roughly expect at different stages of growth. Here in the UK where I grew them, we plant them out in March when temperatures start to be over 10 degrees celsius (50 F). If you're elsewhere in the world like the USA, South Africa, Australia or NZ / New Zealand, optimal times for plantings may differ. The rate your plants grow at may also differ depending on amount of sun, temperature and other factors.
Other names for this delicious tuber in other countries include: Helianthus tuberosus, Topinambur, topinambour, 예루살렘 아 티 초 크, jordskokk i Jerusalem, Alcachofra de jerusalem, jordärtskocka, 菊芋,洋姜,耶路撒冷洋蓟, القدس الخرشوف, Csicsóka, Jerúsalem ætiþistli, エルサレムアーティチョーク, کنگر اورشلیم, słonecznik bulwiasty, ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਆਰਟੀਚੋਕ, Иерусалимский артишок, anghinare de la Ierusalim, เยรูซาเล็มอาติโช๊ค, yerelması

Please also note, I am very new to gardening so even though I researched a lot for this video and did my best to ensure everything in this video is accurate, I still have lots to learn. Apologies for mis-spelling Happy Hanukkah (חנוכה שמח) as Hannukah - whoops! Hopefully the merry & bright, good vibes of the message is the most important thing that comes across for the celebration of this festival within Judaism :)
I thought this sped up candle timelapse could make a nice digital greeting card message or ecard that you can send to friends and family for sending Hanukkah blessings & wishes for a Chag Sameach (חג שמח ), full of love & light. Although the menora shows 8 candles, it can work as a message to send on the festival of lights on any of the days of Chanukah.

The Hanukkah music used here is the well-known traditional Hanukkah song:
"I Have a Little Dreidel" (Instrumental) by E's Jammy Jams
(Lyrics to this song:
I Have a Little Dreidel I made it out of Clay,
And when it's dry and ready Then, dreidel I shall play!
Oh, dreidel, dreidel, dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it's dry and ready
Then, dreidel I will play.)
Departing from Amalfi port, the journey was quite varied because of the weather which meant we had both pretty sunny moments as well as choppy boat rocking waves which lead to super-minor sea sickness / motion sickness, and a mild soaking from the ocean waves & sea spray. It was an interesting boat ride!
In this video you will see the coastal views, the lush green mountains, some caves, a fort, and the beautiful turquoise color of the sea water as we approached the dramatic village/ little town of Positano and docked in its harbor.
I incorporated some footage from the journey from Positano to Amalfi on the ferry back to Amalfi in the late afternoon so if you see some sudden changes in the light from clip to clip, changing from bright morning light to a golden afternoon light - that would be why!

In May 2019, we got a 2 hour Capri boat tour on a gozzo boat with a company called "Gianni's Boat tours" which we found highly recommended on Tripadvisor & on Google reviews. (Not gifted, Not sponsored). Our tour guide was Juan Paolo (if I remember his name correctly), and you can hear some highlights of his commentary and explanations about the island included in this video.
Sights you will see on this Capri Boat Tour:
- View of whole of Capri island, as seen from Monte San Costanzo, on mainland Italy (in Massa Lubrense on the Sorrentine peninsula). You can see our beautiful hike / walk on Monte San Costanzo on my video here: youtu.be/rtyFSRM_JxI
- Marina Grande, Capri (on the central North of the island)
- Sailing across from the Capri side to the Anacapri side of the island
- Our tour inside the famous Blue Grotto / Grotta Azzurra, Italia, found on the North West of the island, and which we entered by switching to a small rowboat: You can see a more focused video of our tour in the Blue Grotto here: youtu.be/rDFIV42IjCE
- Punta Carena Lighthouse on the South West tip of the island
- The Green Grotto / Grotta Verde / The Green Cave, on the south side of the island
- Punta di Mulo on the south side of the island, with a little religious saint marking there.
- Marina Piccola on the South side of the island, where Juan Paolo pointed out where Fiona Swarovski's holiday / vacation beach house is.
- Fishermen's cover / Fisherman's cove
- i Faraglioni - the famous coastal geological structure - the natural arch on the East side of the island.
- We skipped the White Grotto / Grotta Bianca because the water was getting a little choppy and I was getting a little seasick! so we cut the tour a little bit short.
- Views of Massa Lubrense & the Amalfi Coast as seen from Capri.

Belvedere di Tragara is a viewpoint in Capri that's a 15 minute easy, flat, relaxing walk from the centre of the town of Capri. In this "tourist sights & attractions of Capri" Italy trip video we visit Via Tragara, walking the trail to the lookout point which overlooks the views on the South shore of Capri island.
After taking in the scenery at Belvedere Tragara balcony's scenic vantage point view, we continue our little hike path amidst tropical plants, cactus plants and trees, for a further 300m. We descend the rocky cliffs, down lots of steps and stairs in the direction of Isole Faraglioni (aka i Faraglioni, the natural arch) and the blue sea, to the famous private beach club restaurant, La Fontelina for lunch, where dramatic crashing waves provided a dynamic soundtrack to our pasta meal.
Thanks to Alex and Mimi Ikonn for recommending La Fontelina in their vlogs. We wouldn't have discovered it otherwise, and it was definitely the best meal we had out of the 5 meals we had on Capri.

We start the video with a little overview of the area as we approached the gardens on foot. I included some footage of the walk along Via Matteotti to the garden entrance.
1:00
Skip to 1 minute in if you want to start the video inside the gardens without the pre-amble.
The Gardens of Augustus are small but pretty with well-tended to plant, flowers and trees. The main attraction here though are the views: The sea view of i Faraglioni (the natural rock arches), and of Via Krupp, the windy hairpin bend path that scales the 100m drop from the gardens down to Marina Piccola.
(NB At the time of this video, Via Krupp is currently closed to pedestrians due to the danger of falling rocks)

It was off season and a little gray and cold weather-wise so not very busy on the beaches or in some on the streets. It seems April showers do not end in April! But we had a nice visit anyway :)
The places shown in this video include:
- Views over Sorrento with Mount Vesuvius volcano in the background
- Marina Grande (volcanic sand sandy beach)
- Walking through Sorrento's streets, seeing the architecture of the South Italian style buildings and houses
- Walking by many of Sorrento's shops, cafes, restaurants and shopping areas
- Gelato at Antica Gelateria Sorrentina 1860, at the next-door ice cream shop: Fresco, at Davide il Gelato and at Raki.
- Fruit and vegetable shops selling giant lemons and cedro (citron / etrog).
- Villa Comunale park / square
- Chiostro di San Francesco (cloisters of a 14th centeury monastery)
- The sea front with views of the ocean, beach, deck chairs and parasols (despite it being early Spring and too chilly for anybody to be sunbathing or in the water)
- Piazza Sant'Antonino
- Piazza Tasso
- The 5 star hotel: Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria gardens
- inlaid woodwork art shops
- Corso Italia, Sorrento's main pedestrian shopping street
- Sorrento's harbor / port from where the ships and ferries go.

The sea / ocean water was too cold to swim in so the Antico Borgo Marinaro beach & harbour was pretty much empty on this Italian volcanic sandy beach on the Sorrentine peninsula near Mount Vesuvius. Marine Grande is Sorrento's original fishing village and you can sometimes see fishermen and their boats on the pier or around the port. It's quiet, picturesque, quaint & charming.
If you're in Sorrento off season, in winter or early Spring, I'd say it's still worth visiting here even if you can't swim in the cool water. The pretty colorful houses and the calm, peaceful atmosphere make for a nice place to go for a morning walk or an afternoon stroll. Apparently there are some good seafood restaurants in Marina Grande too.

Areas we covered on our best gelato ever search included Sorrento, the Sorrentine peninsula, Capri island, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello and much of the Amalfi Coast.
We conducted our search by doing a gelato crawl throughout this area, trying out the top most recommended places on tripadvisor in each place we visited. We then ranked them according to our own personal favorites to give your our own gelato recommendations. Surprisingly, sometimes the top recommendations on tripadvisor were not our favourites in some places and sometimes we liked the 3rd or even 6th best recommended place better. Goes to show, it's worth giving several places a try!
Ice cream shops featured here (in no particular order - no spoilers here!) are: Baffone in Ravello, Raki in Sorrento, Davide il Gelato in Sorrento, Buonocore in Capri, Andrea Pansa in Amalfi.
A great video for foodie tourists & travelers / food travellers with a sweet tooth, looking for amazing gelati.

Other Notes:
This video is 100% just made for fun :) It's not sponsored in any way, and is not made in association with any gelato shop at all.
Oh also: In Raki I wrote it was peanut and chocolate in the cup. It was actually peanut flavor, and tiramisu flavour shown in that cup there. Oops! I did try their chocolate on another day though and it was good too!

This video features the Monte Solaro Chair Lift, or as it's called in Italian, the Seggiovia: The journey up, some clips of the foggy cloudy view and then the way back down again.
If you're wondering whether to go up Monte Solaro even if the weather isn't perfect, I'd say, a sunny day with clear blue skies is definitely preferable for a nice from view from the top, but if you don't have a choice like us, the chairlift ride is still fun and even if the visibility isn't great from the top, you can still enjoy the amusement ride factor of the old-fashioned one person seat chair lift.

The easy and short Coastal Italy hike we did is part of a much larger Italy hiking trail called the Termini hike, or the even larger Athena Trail which is a a loop circuit connecting Punta Campanella to Monte San Costanzo.
We did the easy way, taking the car, driving to the top of the little mountain, and doing a beginner level hike from there through some gorgeous South Italian nature in the spring time with tons of spring wild flowers including poppies. Tiny flower fields: South Italy nature at its best! From Monte Croce there were also gorgeous Capri views - it's a fantastic view-point to see the whole of Capri island with an unobstructed view.
I'd highly recommend doing this walk if you're in the Sorrento / Positano / Amalfi Coast / Gulf of Naples / Gulf of Salerno area in the Spring months. With all those flowers out, it was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy! Highly recommended.

In Italiano:
Altamente raccomandato.

This food tour is found in the little farming village of Schiazzano and the tour included:
- a lemon grove tour and explanation of how lemons are grown, farmed & cultivated on an Italian farm. The Sorrento Lemon tour also included tasting:
- Lemon Marmalade
- Lemonaid / lemonade
- limoncello (including instructions of how to make your own)
- an olive grove tour and small lecture teaching about olive crop farming, harvesting, and how the olives are made into olive oil.
This olive oil manufacturing bit was accompanied with tastings of different flavored olive oils, with olive oils infused with basil, lemon, oregano, rosemary, chili / chilli and oranges.
- a cheese making demonstration: Benedetto the "Cheese man" took us to his family's dairy farm where he showed us how to make cheese including soft white cheeses like caciottine and ricotta, and firmer cheeses like Fior di Latte mozzarella, aged caciocavallo cheese, and Provolone del Monaco matured cheese. Taste samples were given of these too. I've included Benedetto's explanations of how he makes cheese using milk, enzymes, curds and whey.
- Pizza-making: After being shown around the dairy farm, we were driven on tiny red "ferrari" 3-wheeled cars (I think these three wheel cars may be "Piaggio Ape" [the retro Ape Calessino model or Ape RR] or Piaggio VespaCar, aka "TriVespa" vehicles, based on a vespa scooter) to a local restaurant & pizzeria, Ristorante da Francesco, where we donned some white gloves and had a go at making pizza the Italian way, after a quick demo of pizza dough making by the chef.

In May 2018 we visited Yamanakako Hana No Miyako Flower Park (sometimes also spelled Yamanakako Hananomiyako, or Yamanakako Hanano Miyako Koen or kouen, or in Japanese 山中湖 花の都公園).
It's a garden park exhibiting gardens and flower fields very close to Mount Fuji so that you get a top photography spot to shoot on a backdrop of Mt Fuji (aka Fujisan) in the background, with a foreground of gorgeous a beautiful multicolored flower field.
The flowers in the field vary at different times of the year, in different months. When we were there in May it was a colorful field of tulips (pink, yellow and purple flowers), but at other times of the year they have a sunflower field, poppy field filled with orange, pink or red poppies, or cosmos flowers.
Tulip: Mid-April to Mid-May
Annual Baby’s-breath: Mid-June to Mid-July
Poppy: Early to Mid-July
Sunflower: Mid to End-August
Cosmos: Late July to early October
You can check out what's in season in the different months on their official website here:

(I recommend using google translate to read it if you don't read Japanese)

In this video you will see:
- 2 possible parking spots
- the free flower field and how to access it without having to go through the paid park
- a tour of the paid portion of the park

This high rise observatory building in Roppongi Hills has two observatories, the open air rooftop SKY DECK and the indoor TOKYO CITY VIEW (六本木ヒルズ森タワー). When we were there, only the indoor viewing deck was open, so this indoor panorama observation deck is the only area I could film, but it still shows a beautiful aerial view of the city lights in the surrounding area.
The Mori Tower was built in 2003 and is named after its builder Minoru Mori.
In this video you can see:
- The Tokyo Tower lit up at night
- The Tokyo Skytree in the far distance
- The Shinjuku and Shibuya area
- The Metropolitan Expressway / highway
- Panoramic Modern City Skyline Views
- the cafe and bar area with seating, barstools & sofas

Today Omoide Yokocho is a picturesque, quaint and charming narrow street alley, chock-full of little tiny restaurants serving izakaya foods like grilled meat, yakitori and ramen. Smoke occasionally billows from doorways, adding to the charmingly grimey atmosphere.
If you're in Shinjuku, especially during dinner-time, it's worth a short visit. At lunch-time (when we were there) some of the eateries are closed (they only open for dinner at evening and night time) but it's still pretty to stroll down here. It's only takes a short 5 minute walk down the alley and then you're back to modern times again. A fun experience!

We lucked out and got to see both green tea being roasted in a tea shop, and some Imagawayaki 今川焼き (Obanyaki 大判焼き) shaped like Peko-chan being made at a little bakery called Fujiya.
The little side streets were charming, pretty and quaint too. A nice place for a stroll to just absorb the vibes of a quiet, non-touristy, residential high street.
If you're ever in Tokyo and want something relaxing to do, a walk around here may be just the thing!

There are a lot of steps - the climb up is pretty tiring! - but every so often we took a break from the stairs to look at the view behind us of Mt Fuji and that helped! Once we got up there, it was worth all the huffing and puffing up - the views were magnificant - super pretty! Especially in Spring when Mount Fuji is still capped with a lot of snow to make it look particularly majestic.
If you're planning a Japanese holiday tour to this glorious area of Japan near Fuji Mountain and Lake Kawaguchiko, I recommend stopping by this pagoda - it's a bit of a walk and a bit of a ramble / hike, but I guess it's a good way to get your fitness on and stay fit! And it's great for photographers and tourists alike!

Shiraito waterfalls' full name is: Shiraito no Taki Waterfalls (in Japanese: 白糸の滝 ), and within the nature park you can also find another waterfall called "Otodome no Taki Waterfalls" (or Otodome falls / Otodome waterfalls), and a little pool called Obinmizu Pool. These magnificent natural water features are found along part of the Shibakawa River in this beautiful countryside area of Japan. Japanese country at its best! :) The hiking walk to the falls is easy, even if you're not very fit like me! Just a short hike - more of a walk really - down a nature trail. I hope you enjoy this quick tour of Shirato falls from our visit.

When visiting Japan, Tokyo, I did a little tour of the awesome high tech, electric Japanese toilets you can find there. No country does toilets like the Japanese do toilets!
- - -
Initially I made this short video to share with my family to show them this bit of Japanese life from our visit, so it's recorded in Hebrew for them, but I put English subtitles so it can be accessible to more people who may be interested in what WCs, public bathrooms / restrooms / washrooms look like in Japan :)
Other interesting things about Japanese toilets:
- Where to find free toilets in Japan: In Tokyo you can easily find free public toilets in every train sation, department store and in convenience stores (combinis) too.
- The toilet seats often have an option to be heated to keep you warm in winter!
- On the handle you have other controls I didn't talk about in this video like water pressure strength, and some toilets also have water temperature options.
- Some toilets also have buttons to lift and put down the lid and the seat

On the 10th May 2018, our view of Mt Fuji began dicey with spring showers, rain and clouds hiding the famous mountain, but as we enjoyed the blossoms and blooming pink, white & purple flowers all around, Fuji Mountain came out of hiding, the patch of blue sky grew until we got some beautiful views of the famous Japanese mountain and this well-known spring flower festival in Japan in the Fuji Five Lakes area of the Japanese countryside. Going up to the Panorimic Observation Deck (or in French, the "Observatoire Panoramique de la Tour Montparnasse") on the 56th floor, and especially then going further up to the outdoor rooftop terrace a couple floors above, was just amazing!
I'm not exaggerating when I say that seeing the beautiful bird's eye sky high view over Paris at sunset and at night was my favourite thing we did in Paris during our stay. I'd highly recommend it!
From the top of Montparnasse you can see gorgeous views of the Eiffel Tower, as it glitters and sparkles on the hour every hour, and has it's beam of light that rotates and lights up the surroundings with its beacon at night. You can also see pretty much all the main attractions and tourist sites in Paris from up there if you look out for them, including the Arc de Triomphe, Centre Pompidou, the Seine, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur over in Montmartre, Le Grand Palais, Le Palais Royal, Jardin du Luxemebourg (Luxemburg gardens) and more. I tried to label most of them in the video :)

- Views of the Arc de Triomf exterior
- The underground subway / tunnel walkway beneath the Arc Triomphe where you queue up / line up to buy tickets - This could give an idea of queue size (incidentally the ticket price / cost - or as they say in French, the prix / tarif, to go up was 12 euros when we were there in November 2017)
- A tip of how to avoid lining up & queuing by purchasing arc du triomphe tickets online.
- Close-up details of the Arc du Triomphe
- Passing through security in the Arc after entry past the line
- The stairs entrance
- The little-known elevator lift in the Arc de Triomphe: what it looks like, and how far up it takes you (you still need to walk up a small number of stairs even if you take the elevator up)
- The viewing deck at the top of the Arc de Triomphe - what it looks like up there
- view from arc de triomphe on a blue sky sunny November day, including seeing the views across Paris in all directions; north, south, east and west, looking down the Champs Elysees towards Place de la Concorde, seeing the Eiffel tower, Montmartre, Sacre Coeur Basilica and more.

How to say Happy New Year in Hebrew
On Rosh Hashanah (ראש השנה), the Jewish New Year, there are two main Jewish New Year greetings or Rosh Hashanah wishes that are most common:
1.) Shana Tova = Good Year
(sometimes spelled shanah tovah, chana tova, chanah tova, shanna tova, shannah tova or shanah tova)
(Spelling in Hebrew letters: שנה טובה)
Sometimes you see this as "Le shana tova" or "L'shana tova", where the "L" means "to", so it would mean "To a good year".
2.) Shana tova umetuka = Happy and Sweet Year
(Sometimes spelled shana tova umetukah)
(Spelling in Hebrew letters: שנה טובה ומתוקה)
You can listen to the video for the Israeli Hebrew pronunciation to hear how it's typically pronounced in Ivrit.

Going through the list of top rated restaurants in London on Tripadvisor, we came across "Cafe Loren" which was in the top 20, so we decided to pay the Stables Market part of Camden Market a visit in Camden Town, London, UK, to try their Shakshuka (sometimes spelled "shakshouka", or שקשוקה), a Mediterranean/ Israeli breakfast / brunch / light lunch dish that consists of eggs and a vegetable-based sauce, usually consisting of a tomato-base.
Here's a short video of some clips I took of their small coffee shop / restaurant in case you're curious about what it looks like before heading out there yourself.
Note: I think you may need to ask for challah bread if you want it; I'm not sure if they give it out as a standard default thing; we asked.

Please excuse any mistakes and crude cuts you can see/ hear - I tried to edit most of the mistakes out and sometimes it's not entirely seamless! :D

Background about this song:
Eli Eli (meaning: "My God, My God") is a famous folk Jewish / Israeli song that was composed by David Zehavi (1910-1977) in 1945, that goes with lyrics with words from the poem "Walk to Caesarea" by Hungarian, Jewish poet, Channah Senesh (1921-1944).
It's a very simple poem. Meaning of the lyrics:
My God, my God
May the end never come to...
The sand and the sea
The rustling ripple of the water
The glittering light of the sky
The prayer of Mankind

NB: Because the song was composed in the 1940s, and songs only become public domain about 100 years after the lifetime of the composer, I believe the song will only become public domain around the year 2077! So since it is not public domain and I don't have the intellectual rights to the original tune from which my arrangement is based, I have not monetized this video and I don't have the right to give this song out for anyone to use. But I wanted to share it anyway in case it can bring some joy to someone out there! :)
