🚙 Drive America’s Highways for approximately 5.6 miles south along Interstate 471 from U.S. Route 50 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Interstate 275 near Ft. Thomas, Kentucky — crossing the Ohio River from downtown Cincinnati into Northern Kentucky.

Travel south on Interstate 471 from U.S. Route 50 along the eastern edge of downtown Cincinnati to Interstate 275 near Ft. Thomas and Highland Heights, Kentucky. I-471 is a short but important urban Interstate connecting Cincinnati with communities in Campbell County and the eastern side of Northern Kentucky. Measuring just under six miles from end to end, the highway provides a direct alternative to the larger I-71/75 corridor farther west and serves as one of the primary Interstate crossings of the Ohio River in the Cincinnati metropolitan area.

The video starts at the interchange with U.S. Route 50 in Cincinnati, where I-471 heads south toward the Ohio River. Almost immediately, the route provides an urban view of Cincinnati and the surrounding river valley as the highway approaches the riverfront. The relatively short distance between downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky gives this portion of I-471 a distinctly metropolitan character, with city development, riverfront infrastructure, and the hills of Kentucky all visible within a compact stretch of highway.

Continuing south, Interstate 471 crosses the Ohio River on the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge. The bridge's distinctive twin yellow arches have made it one of the most recognizable highway landmarks in the Cincinnati area, and its appearance has earned it the longtime nickname of the Big Mac Bridge. Southbound travelers cross from Cincinnati, Ohio, directly into Newport, Kentucky, with views across the river and surrounding portions of the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky urban area.

After entering Kentucky, I-471 continues south along the eastern side of Newport before moving away from the river and into the communities of Campbell County. The surroundings gradually change from the dense urban development near Newport to the more suburban landscape around Southgate, Ft. Thomas, and Highland Heights. The highway remains a major north-south connection through this part of Northern Kentucky, carrying traffic between Cincinnati and the I-275 beltway.

The drive concludes at Interstate 275 near Ft. Thomas and Highland Heights, where I-471 meets the Cincinnati Bypass. From this interchange, I-275 provides connections around the eastern side of the Cincinnati metropolitan area and continues toward both Ohio and the greater Northern Kentucky highway network.

Although Interstate 471 is only about 5.6 miles long, the southbound trip offers a considerable amount of variety. The route begins beside downtown Cincinnati, crosses the Ohio River on one of the region's signature bridges, passes through Newport, and finishes amid the wooded hills and suburban development of Northern Kentucky. It is a short Interstate drive, but one that provides a clear transition from central Cincinnati to the surrounding Kentucky communities in only a few minutes.
