(KUTV) December 7, 1941 is still a day that lives in infamy, especially for one of the last remaining Pearl Harbor survivors living right here in Utah.
Max Burggraaf was a young seaman who watched history change forever with his own eyes.
Now 98 years old, he is blind, and has trouble standing, walking and hearing. But he still remembers that historic day in great detail.
He was fresh out of high school when he enlisted in the Navy. In December of 1941 he was on the USS Nevada at Pearl Harbor.
On that Sunday morning, he just happened to be at church in Waikiki when the first planes attacked and the alarm sounded to get back to the ship.
