St. Peter’s Basilica is the heart of the Vatican, and the spiritual center of the Catholic faith. Officially consecrated in 1626 after 120 years of construction, by many measurements, it is the largest church in the world. It is built on the site believed to be the burial site of St. Peter, and for 2,000 years, Christians have come to this site to worship.
