LASAGNA DIP
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1/2 lb. ground veal
Salt, pepper
1/2 tsp. garlic powder, divided
1/4 tsp. onion powder
8 oz. brick mozzarella, shredded
1 1/2 c. whole milk ricotta cheese
1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
1/4 c. grated parmesan cheese
1 egg
15 oz. jarred marinara sauce
Olive oil spray
Dried parsley for garnish
Italian bread for serving
Preheat oven to 350*. Pour the olive oil into a large, nonstick skillet. Heat over medium heat and add the veal. Using a wooden spoon, break up the veal into small pieces as it cooks through. Season with a sprinkle of salt and pepper plus 1/4 tsp. garlic powder and 1/4 tsp. onion powder. Once the meat is browned, add the marinara sauce. Simmer for a couple of minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally. In a small mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, Italian seasoning, grated parmesan, 1/4 tsp. garlic powder, and 1 egg. Mix until everything is combined and smooth. Grease a glass pie plate or 8x8 baking dish with olive oil spray. Spread the ricotta mixture evenly into the bottom of the plate. Pour the meat sauce evenly overtop. Lastly, sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese all over the top. Bake at 350* for about 10-15 minutes. The mozzarella should be slightly browned and bubbling. Sprinkle dried parsley overtop for garnish. Serve with Italian bread for dipping. I topped my bread with softened butter, a light sprinkling of garlic powder, grated parmesan cheese and dried parsley, then broiled it just until golden.
CHEESEBURGER BOMBS
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1/2 pound ground veal
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. onion powder
1 can buttermilk biscuits (8 biscuits)
Flour for work surface
2 slices yellow American cheese
1 Tbsp. mayonnaise
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 egg
Sesame seeds for garnish
Dipping sauce— 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 1 Tbsp. ketchup, 1 Tbsp. Sweet pickle relish, 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
Once the meat is browned, remove to a large mixing bowl. Add 1 Tbsp. Of mayonnaise and 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce. Stir to coat the meat.
Sprinkle a light dusting of flour onto your work surface. Take one biscuit at a time and roll out with a floured rolling pin to flatten into about a 5” circle. Place 1/4 of a slice of American cheese in the center of the biscuit dough. Spoon about 2 Tbsp. Of the meat mixture overtop. Pinch the sides of the biscuit dough together until sealed. Flip over and place onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Repeat with remaining biscuits, cheese, and meat. In a small bowl, beat 1 egg. Lightly brush the beaten egg over top of each biscuit bomb. Sprinkle sesame seeds overtop of each bun. Bake at 350* for about 18-20 minutes or until golden. Serve with dipping sauce, if desired.
