Shooting at high ISO has always been considered one of the golden rules of photography to abide by. That said, you may actually be harming your bird photography by not shooting with elevated ISO. I've recently been shooting in the realms of ISO2000 through ISO4000, and I've been blown away by the results.

Modern camera technology mixed with highly performant de-noising software options now alleviates that once taboo aspect of photography. It is something you should really embrace. Try it once, you'll be hooked!

Popular de-noising software options:

Topaz Denoise - topazlabs.com/denoise-ai
Define2 (Nik Collection) - nikcollection.dxo.com/dfine
Skylum Luminar Noiseless - skylum.com/luminar/noiseless-ai-new
Neat Image - ni.neatvideo.com
