Impatient Driver Gets Stuck at the Federal Reserve Building. Some say patience is a virtue. This obviously isn't the first nor will it be the last time we do a winch out here. It happens so frequently you would figure it would be much cheaper to just redesign the ramp. Lots of YouTube experts, but if you don't pay attention it's quite easy to happen.
First, you have to figure when you backup here your trailer is empty. Then your trailer gets full, upwards of 40-50,000lbs and as you leave, the lowered trailer isn't compensated for. You can go out at a slight angle, floor it, slide your tandems, but if you completely forget then the result is your landing gear bottoms out, making it now impossible to go forward or backward.
Alex was dispatched to this one in Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator. His course of action was to winch it forward using the outrigger as a low pull. Rigging this was is much more simple than a spreader bar, and both have positives and negatives. In this case, it was the right call for a quick and easy winch.
