The first part of the video was edited and rendered using iMovie '11, and then the same clip repeats using iMovie HD '06. The same QuickTime export settings were used for both. I know that iMovie '08 and higher uses "single field processing" which cuts the vertical resolution of interlaced footage in half, but this looks even worse than that. In comparison, iMovie HD '06 preserves the full resolution of the original footage.
If someone else has a Canon FS200 or similar standard definition MPEG2 camcorder and iMovie '11, please feel free to post your own sample video as a response. I really can't believe Apple intended for the quality to be so bad, so maybe something is wrong with my copy of iMovie '11?

Watch BMW tooting their own horn for about 24 minutes on this VHS tape from 1999. I dont know whether this tape was given to new BMW employees or buyers of BMW cars. As much as an enthusiast they might be, I dont think buyers would be interested in watching the whole thing. And yes, controversial BMW styling designer Chris Bangle makes an appearance.")
