NewomasterThis is the second part of my series fully explaining binary to BCD and BCD to binary converters within minecraft. In this video I explain how to create a combinational (parallel) binary to BCD converter with redstone, which is much faster than the sequential one which I built last time. I go through the logic of the device and then build one on camera.
If you have questions/feedback feel free to ask in the comments.
I apologise for the delay in this video (and videos from my channel in general). I got caught up in school/real life stuff. I'm on summer vacation now, so hopefully I'll be able to upload more often.

The power and I/O is being handled by a Basys3 FPGA (the board on the right). I have the FPGA programmed to run through the adder's truth table and display the I/O on the green LEDs near the bottom. Just thought I'd share, since it's kinda cool!Newomaster Live StreamNewomaster2016-10-08 | ...Maple Leaf Rag (READ DESCRIPTION)Newomaster2015-12-30 | I've had this sitting on my channel for ages as unlisted. I thought why not release it. Why not?
For those wondering where I've been: I've mostly moved on to other (even more interesting!) things away from redstone, especially programming and applying to colleges :P. I might upload some videos of my programming projects in the future (AI anyone?), though don't expect anything for a while.
This is me playing an old-timey rag song: Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin on the piano. Sorry for the vertical video... I recorded the video with an Iphone. Also the audio desynchronized slightly, sorry.
My playthrough isn't perfect, there are a few mistakes, but meh.
Music recording setup (for those who are interested): Piano: Roland RD-700GX Synth/Preamp (you can see it on my desk, it's the bright lights): Novation Ultranova DAW: ReaperCompact/Fast Dual-Read diagonal registers with download (redstone showcase)Newomaster2014-06-27 | First of all: I apologise for the random lag spikes in this video. I probably shouldn't record on my ORE plot.. really laggy. Once I get my new computer that will be fixed though.
In this video I showcase my small and fast dual-read diagonal registers. They are useful in making CLE CPUs, since they fit right under a CLE and can be used to create a fast data loop. The registers feature a 1 tick read on both reads. To make them I used some interesting signal strength trickery to pass the data from the memory to both reads without causing interference on the read control input (which is normally what makes designing these so hard).
As always, if you find any problems with the downloads or the units themselves, tell me and I'll have a look.

This video is the start of a series in which I go through and explain how how to make all of the different types of Binary to BCD or BCD to binary converters which I have shown on this channel.
In this episode I explain what BCD is, how the double dabble algorithm works for converting binary numbers into BCD, then I build an example binary to BCD decoder.
(fun fact, all 37 minutes of the on camera bin to bcd converter build was done in one take with no editing... yay for improv commentary/redstoning).
Open Redstone Engineer's server: ip: mc.openredstone.org Website: http://openredstone.org Youtube: youtube.com/user/OpenRedstoneRedstoneless redstone (Water logic)Newomaster2014-03-28 | In this video I demonstrate a very interesting concept: Water logic. Water logic uses no redstone components whatsoever, and is a single-use type of redstone. It works by using sand, water, signs, and block updates to perform logical operations. In the video I demonstrate it with a 4-bit adder made with water.

It can draw a straight line between any two points on the screen using two inputted points. Each pixel only takes 8 ticks to render. The entire device is, of course, completely pistonless.

(Torchless CLE ALU)Newomaster2013-12-31 | In this video I show off an interesting build of mine... a torchless CLE ALU. Using only comparator logic, the torchless ALU can be pipelined at 2 ticks (torches can't because they burn out). The actual ALU is 8 ticks (which is meh) but that speed doesn't matter because it can be pipelined so fast.
I will provide a schematic download for the ALU once the ORE build server schematic system is working again. For now it can be seen on my plot on the build server at mc.openredstone.org (type /pwarp newo).
This is my first video recorded with my new microphone. I would like some feedback on how it sounds. I will try to work on playing with the settings so you don't hear my keyboard, mouse, and fans as loud in the background.

Apparently the unusually high (3000 ish) views were created by some sort of spam account. Youtube sent me this in full: "Regarding your account: Newomaster

I for sure didn't spam it myself so I don't know why they would attribute this as me violating their policies. Anyone know what's up with this?
Since a few people requested I make an explanation on how to perform the square root algorithm and how to build square root extractors, I've made a video explaining a bit about how to do so. I show a few sample square root calculations and build a square root extractor on camera. This video is pretty long (main reason I didn't include this stuff in the original video). Also, if you have questions feel free to ask in the comments. Hopefully this can help you guys who asked me on my last video. :D
Open Redstone Engineer's server: ip: mc.openredstone.org Website: http://openredstone.org Youtube: youtube.com/user/OpenRedstoneParalleloram! :DNewomaster2013-10-23 | Soooo...I was bored and I had redstone, so I created this derpy thing. I present to you: Paralleloram (trademark, copyright, registered patent, whatever). It is 32 bytes of parallelogram-shaped pistonless repeater locking fast ram. Yea... :D I made this half as a joke and half as an actual useful(ish) concept idea. The bussing method (although it could be used with other shapes too) allows it to be relatively fast and relatively compact. All you need to do to make one of these is design a repeater locking ram cell that stacks diagonally, then take those units and stack them on top of each other so they fit in the spaces under each other (please don't ask for a tutorial on this derpy thing xD).
The device is on my plot (/warp newo) on the the ORE redstone server: ORE (open redstone engineers) website: http://openredstone.org/forums ORE build server: mc.openredstone.orgSquare roots in minecraft pistonless and synchronized (redstone showcase)Newomaster2013-10-06 | Quick demonstration of a pretty cool device I made. It is a device that can find the square root of a number you input in binary (8 bit). It gives an answer and a remainder (for example, sqrt(65)=8 R1 since ((8^2)+1)=65). I made it with my CLE design that I showed off in my last redstone video. The device is 24 ticks (not counting repeaters on the outputs/inputs) each unit is 6 ticks (4 for the CLE, 2 for the conditional subtract mux).
The device is on the ORE redstone server: ORE (open redstone engineers) website: http://openredstone.org/forums ORE build server: mc.openredstone.orgRedstone: optimised CLE adder (advanced tutorial)Newomaster2013-09-11 | Okay, so I haven't made a redstone video in awhile (mostly because of school), and I've had this laying around my plot so I thought I'd show it off, since a lot of people have started to use this design. The tutorial might be a bit difficult to follow if you're not familiar with carry look ahead or carry look everywhere addition in minecraft already (hence why I labelled it advanced tutorial). Also, any feedback on the quality/explanation would be great. Let me know if I messed something up too (because I'm a derp and I do those sorts of things). Anyway, hope you enjoyed :3
