Kennedy Wilde - CRASH (Pastayay Remix) PastaYaY 2025-07-12 | This is my submission for the @inthemix remix contest! Here we were given the option to remix "Crash" or "GTA" by Kennedy Wilde. I chose Crash (both had great singing though). Because of the structure of the song I decided to try out 3 different melodic genres for the 3 choruses. Parts of the song such as the build up and first drop were inspired by Skrillex (particularly from some songs on his new album). The trance part in the middle I went for something similar to my Apaga La Luz remix and my other song We Are Alive for both what layers to use and mixing. The Isoknock album was also a source of inspiration for the second half of the song as well. Then I wanted to make a nuphory style hardwave/neotrance drop at the end. Making the final drop led me to create a custom remix cover art that somewhat resembles the visual style of hardwave album art. After about 5 iterations of this remix (changes to vocal processing, arps, dubstep basses, mixing, etc.) I ended up with a finished product I liked. He worked on the second half of the song while I did the first. For my part I experimented with some of the instrumental parts to give it a metal flair. Justice - D.A.N.C.E. (PastaYaY Remix) PastaYaY 2024-09-28 | Decided to remix D.A.N.C.E. by Justice. I was originally going to do a complextro/dubstep style drop similar to the remix Rukkus made of their track Stress. But I decided that a house remix would fit better in this song. It ended up being easier than I thought so this was not too hard of a challenge. So this remix took 2 days to make. Also I had the idea to try making these visuals in DaVinci Resolve as I wanted to learn that software. Unfortunately DaVinci Resolve isn't built like After Effects so it struggled to render the video. PastaYaY - Cerapoda [Experimental Dubstep] PastaYaY 2024-09-14 | "Titans of the prehistoric world. I appreciate your patience.Since this is the eighth and final track on the Dinosaurs project, I decided to go wild with sound design for this. I had listened to some botanica songs by Shameless and Phritz and wanted to replicate that full and rich ambient sound for the foundation of the song since I found it quite unique. Then I went for an old school dubstep drop that utilized some new growl sounds I made and some sampling of other dubstep songs. 118 bpm gives a different feel than 150 bpm that I think fits this track nicely, especially the drop and final section. At about halfway through the song I added 5:6 polymeter part to the piano to get the melody to give a sense of movement and variety. Several months before I made this song, I had followed a tutorial by asd where it showed me how to create a fun sampling device called the impactor rack which I used for the ending. It is basically a sample blender that creates something new each time. Super useful for powerful glitchy soundscapes. I combined this with some reese basses and Xtrullor style phaser basses I made from scratch to add even more punch to the final section. Then finally I added a bunch of white noise fx and other foley to give more texture to everything in the song. Mixing this song did not take too long compared to previous songs but there were some parts here and there that needed attention. It was a fun time constructing this tune and I like how it turned out. Will try similar techniques in future works.After everything I have learned so far from the previous 7 videos I think I had a good time getting this video done as I would be able to apply new skills and knowledge. I completed this in 2 days. Thanks to BGD for showing me a cool website called noisedeck.app where it can make fun generative visuals. I used it a tiny bit here and will want to use this more in the future. Once again I made good use of stock footage and images to help create scenes that matched the sounds. Color enhancing effects like color vibrance and toner helped a lot when creating good looking colors for this video and previous ones. Turbulent diplace and displacer pro have been useful for getting distorted images and glitchy looking visuals. The audio spectrum combined with the choker effect , wiggle expression, and glow effect, make for a good visualizer that matches aggressive drops. I again used a trick before where you create an adjustment layer with the add blend mode and crank up the blur to get cool color streaks. The silhouette alpha blend mode also got me some cool results where it would be the outline of a dinosaur with a background inside. The ending is my favorite part of the visuals where there are a bunch of rocks flying around. I looked for a tutorial on how to make this effect but it needed a plugin called Element 3D which I don't have so I ended up doing something similar with the built in particle world effect. By keyframing the birth rate, velocity, gravity, particle size, blur, and rotating, I got an epic looking scene. The particles you see are actually the same as the ones I used for my Xtrullor style visualizers. Reusing things can be very convenient and useful for both music and video. Eventually I want to be able to do this same effect in Blender where I have more control over the movement and scene and then composite it in After Effects to do color correction and more. PastaYaY & Enderstrike - Thyreophora [Briddim] PastaYaY 2024-09-14 | "Spiked armor and destructive tails. Masters of defense and offense. Impressive and formidable."The one and only collaboration on this album. This time with @EnderStrikeOfficial. He had sent me some samples and I got to work on a riddim/briddim track with it. At first I had no idea what to do with the drop and the mid section but eventually I listened to some Diskirz and Muerte tracks and found inspiration there. I wanted to go more towards the briddim side by adding some growls, glitches, and more texture than a regular riddim song would. I also wanted to add a unique buildup with deathstep sounds and a drift phonk style rhythm. By this point I was getting more and more organized with how I lay out my projects, label things, and sort different instruments in Ableton. I feel this song is a good mix between traditional riddim techniques and new experimental ideas.Finished this music video in 2 days. I had discovered that 150 beats per minute meant that there would be around one beat every 24 frames. With this information I could accurately keyframe different parameters and it would be already synchronized with the music. It gives a different, more consistent result than converting audio to keyframes, although it can take a while to keyframe everything. Just like before, I downloaded png images of the dinosaur I needed and downloaded various images and clips that fit the theme of the song. Watched a tutorial on how to get a cool smoke effect and realized that tutorials are very helpful. PastaYaY - Theropoda [Drum and Bass] PastaYaY 2024-09-14 | "Being one of earth's most feared and well known group of dinosaurs, these beasts are not to be meddled with."After making a bunch of songs of considerable duration, I decided this song shouldn't be as long as the others. This would help me work efficiently on the song and not draw it out longer than it needs to be. I wanted to go for two different but unique styles for the drops in this song. The first being a neurofunk drop with some Burr Oak influences. This was made mostly from basses I made while messing around with sound design a while back. Basically I followed a tutorial for making a growl preset and then recorded myself randomizing the parameters like the filters and the pitch. The second is a melodic dnb drop inspired by some Internal_ERROR songs I listened to recently and wanted to replicate that style. The intro I wanted to keep quicker compared to previous intros but I wanted to keep a similar style to them. The break in the middle of the song I thought would sound good if I sampled some Minecraft songs and added a bunch of reverb. Once again I made this song transition smoothly from the previous and transition smoothly into the next both musically and visually.The day after I finished making the visuals for Sauropodomorpha I immediately made the visuals for Theropoda and finished it one day. A massive improvement compared to Saurischia and Ornithischia where the visuals for each of them took weeks to finish. I think what helped me work faster for this and the previous video was downloading all the video clips and images I need beforehand and not while during the editing process. Also planning out roughly what appeared at different sections of the song helped me be efficient as well just like last time. I thought it would be fun to have the Google dinosaur game be included somehow in the visuals. So I recorded some gameplay, made it 3D, and added some audio spectrums and other effects. I used a plugin called Saber to get the cool laser fire thing you see a bit over halfway in to the video. I used Saber for certain parts in the previous songs as well. Very good free plugin. By now I have found somewhat of a good balance between spending too much time on visuals (like I did in Odyssey of the Steppe) and spending too little time on visuals (like I did in A New Existence III).
