Yeah there honestly isn't much one can say about this fight. You fight 12 different random abyss shadows, with 3 occupying each empty slot that you fight in succession, so how well you do in this fight basically comes down to who comes out. You could get lucky and fight a load of very mild shadows, or run into Tenshi near the end of the fight and instantly hit that close program button because your tank is about to get deleted, and that is if you can actually remember what any of those things do in the first place (all I can remember is that Tenshi, Kokoro, Sakuya and Mokou are instant reset no look-backs). It might be prudent to give your Holy Blessing to your heaviest AoE nuke so you can clear the board to ease the pressure on yourself, since the thing can only resummon them one by one and uses up all its timebar for doing so (though at this point timebar barely means anything). What else can I say? Just get lucky I suppose.
Anyways, that is the end of this series. No, I'm not gonna do the enhanced bosses, because there are WAY better ways to spend my life than to grind up THAT much to fight just a bunch of rehashs at higher stats.Labyrinth of Touhou 2 Steam - vs Full Power Dragon Godregalstar2023-09-16 | The rematch with Dragon God is somewhat similar to the first fight in that it will phase through red and blue phases, although unlike the first match, it'll stay in those phases until you knock it out of the HP thresholds. The key problem is that the red phase is very much untankable head on (it'll use True Dragon Strength twice, each of which starts at like 5m damage even with 500 PHY affinity, and have enough accuracy that dodgetanking is not reliable). Resurrection, Eirin's overheal, Akyuu's invincibility or Tenshi's PHY reduction passive are some things that can help actually tank two of them, but I have none of those in this team, which means the only recourse I have is to just have Marisa burst through the phases so I don't have to deal with them at all. This leads to a lot of downtime during the blue phases while I wait for everyone's MP to recharge, but I couldn't find a way around this.
There's also a 2nd and 3rd lifebar in this rematch. The second lifebar features two dragon gods spamming the original version of the red and blue moves, which makes the blue one extremely annoying while the red one a non-factor mostly, not helped by the fact that it also has 0 resistance to all ailments but DTH. So you can just kill the blue one as soon as possible, then pin the red one in place with SHK and PAR until your team is ready for the third lifebar.
The third lifebar will have it just spam a fancy contentrate, followed by a three-element composite nuke, with each wave featuring an extra attack after the previous (though the "extra" ones all have half strength). This is a pretty simple damage rush test where you just try to burst it down as fast as you can. It's weak to the four "natural" elements while highly resisting SPI/DRK/MYS, so hopefully you had your appropriate nukers all buffed up during the second lifebar.Etrian Odyssey II HD - Thrones vs Ur-Child (Expert difficulty)regalstar2023-06-10 | Daytime of course, though the party is rather unoptimal. But it's got the tools needed to eke out a win.The Genius of Sappheiros V - Final Boss #2: Resentment Incidentregalstar2023-04-24 | This fight is even longer than the main game final fight, as you have to make THREE parties to cycle through three full phases. It's quite a bit fairer than the Gorgon sisters, though, but it's also difficult enough to be energizing. (It's the main reason why I didn't bother to show equip/augmentation here, because the video is long enough already.)
Phase 1 is, in my opinion, actually the hardest phase of the fight, mostly because everything hits pretty hard, and building up a defense is really difficult thanks to their nasty habit of spamming Vortex. The red gate has 999 MDEF while being resistant to all physical elements, and the mystic weakness it has basically doesn't matter because of that MDEF (only Marisa can pierce defense to take advantage of it). The blue gate is a lot easier to hurt with no defenses and weakness to all four main elements, but it also resists physical elements even harder than the red gate. They will use an annoying field spell every 5 turns, and get stronger as more turns pass; the red gate in particular because terrifying past turn 12 because it starts using Comet to hit your entire party for like 800-900 damage. Your best bet is to use weapons that have resistance piercing either built-in or on augmentation tree to kill the red gate first, and then use private square Sakuya to kill the blue gate; it worked out a lot better for me than when I tried to kill the blue gate first only to get nuked by Comet repeatedly afterwards.
Phase 2 is mostly obnoxious because the main boss has really high physical/magical barrier built-in, and calls in so many adds. As long as both mirrors are alive it has 90% barrier, but even when the mirrors are dead it still has 50%. However, it is super weak to poison and will take more damage from it than normal (with mirrors dead it takes 5x poison damage), and since it doesn't have defense against debuff either Reisen can do some pretty decent damage to it despite the barrier. Litos is the best choice for nuking the mirrors and other adds, and her super ajan weapon can inflict poison if you feel like you need Satori elsewhere. Other than that, basically just hope that it doesn't start attacking your back row while you haven't gotten all the debuffs online yet, because it can very well one shot frailer characters without resistances. (I had Satori with swordmaster and axemaster's proof to prevent her getting assassinated, since she's my reviver for this fight so if she goes down the whole thing goes to shit.)
Phase 3 is actually the easiest phase, though it comes with its own annoyances. Like in phase 2, you need to kill the four adds to deal appreciable damage to the main boss (it takes 1% damage when all four elements are alive, and even with just one on field it takes only 50%), but when you do take out all four elements, the boss will spend the next turn using two nukes in a row. Youkai Night Tomb in particular is a physical attack that inflicts 999 fixed damage, so you need to guard against it with Reimu or Alice (preferably with Kagami equipped to not get killed by it), or maybe you can have Cirno inflict Freeze on it to stop it from acting that turn (I'm honestly not sure what would happen; all I know is that it has no resistance to freeze while no elements are alive). Aside from that, it also randomly uses Devil's 3-5 with no warning to deal 555 fixed damage to the entire party; this one is mystic element so you need to make sure your entire party always has enough HP and/or mystic resistance to survive it. Outside of those two, its next most threatning thing is... its normal attack. Woohoo. Oh and it does have an annoying field spell that it never used in this run, so don't be like me and make sure you have someone with another field spell to overwrite it. Basically just spend some time to buff up, kill all the elements, slam the boss with your best attacks on the next turn while Alice/Reimu/Cirno defends your team, then repeat. You have all the leeway you need since outside of the 555 damage nuke, it barely poses a threat on in-between turns. Oh and if you bring any physical attackers to phase 3, know that the main body has an EVA of *400* so make sure they either have chock full of ACC accessories or Byakuren's Never Fail (which adds 512 ACC at 100 IND so is enough by itself). The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Terminator MKIIregalstar2023-04-20 | Do you love your -mom- blue ball thingy with a gun and its two-hit multi-target attacks that also hits slayer on half your team?
For some reason, this quest alone becomes available only after you beat Dark Space, instead of after recruiting Yuugi like all the other 7-8 star quests. (Probably because you can't actually use Super Aja until you beat Dark Space? But that didn't stop them from offering all those new quests.) If you try to take this thing head on, your entire team is probably dead in one turn. But it is vulnerable to all debuffs and has 0 RES, so just land two attack debuffs and you will be taking 0 damage. It does randomly use Vortex though, so giving it Perfect Resist after four debuffs is a good idea to make it not randomly break out of its own debuffs and kill you. Landing accuracy down will also make it harder for Vortex to actually hit your own team because for whatever reason it checks accuracy and evasion as well. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Boss 26: That Which Detests Allregalstar2023-04-20 | This one is another Reisen bait. You really want to use debuffs anyways, since he's immune to all magic elements except mystic and has 1500 PDEF to correspond to his physical elements weakness. At 25% HP he'll use a nuke that deals 999 damage to the entire team (reduced by only void resistance), but unlike Hina he doesn't have an HP lock to ensure it, and with Reisen on the case it's entirely feasible to just skip the whole thing with overwhelming damage. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Boss 25: Hinaregalstar2023-04-19 | Unlike the previous two fights, Hina actually has some resistance against debuffs, but only to ATK down and MATK down effects (and anything that involves them). Although she uses a spell card every three turns starting on the first, one of them is Bad Fortune which dispels, and since I want to reflect the spell cards she's liable to reflect it back on herself and dispel all her debuffs.
The main gimmick here is that every six turns starting from the second, she'll put up one of two buffs that makes her reflect either physical or magic attacks and become immune to the other, so if you can't pierce reflect or dispel the buff you can't hurt her at all until it wears off. Since it comes at a fixed time however, I just skipped it with Sakuya's private square. At below 10800 HP she'll use All Reflection, and if you manage to hit her with anything past reflection (or dispel it with Vortex and then hit her with something) she'll counter with what's essentially a multi target Pain Bond doing like 50k damage. The intended strat here is obviously to kill her in one hit (she also becomes weak to all elements but void and dark at this stage to facilitate this), but you can also just reflect the spell card for an instant win.The Genius of Sappheiros V - Boss 24: Abyss Daemonregalstar2023-04-19 | Pretty much the same as the previous fight. This guy doesn't even have any divine barrier despite being a Deity, and his dangerous moves can't be used unless Dark land is all the way up, so just don't let that happen and he's mostly harlmess. Though he does use Death off 80 IND which is kinda scary, so resistance buff is very important to have. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Formation Quest Boss: Flandre and Koakumaregalstar2023-04-18 | 2 vs 2 this time, but luckily these two aren't anywhere near as tanky as the three maids, though Flandre also has a variety of strong attacks that are difficult to cover, and Koakuma has Koa Bomber which I completely forgot about. Got a little bit lucky in the middle where Flandre was kind enough to not murder Byakuren with a spell after Koa Bomber landed. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Formation Quest Boss: Akame, Chihiro and Kagami (α)regalstar2023-04-18 | This one is pretty tough. You can only bring three people here, and each of them have 75k HP so you're gonna have to be hitting them for quite a while, and they don't make things easy in the mean time. Though the fact that you can only bring three people also means that you don't need as many accessories to protect your characters; these three are generally content to use physical attacks, with only magic of note being Chihiro's Octopus Maelstrom and Kagami's Petit Dark Flare, so it should be pretty easy to cover two people with resist items, and the third can live on either barrier items or maybe a strong shield. Byakuren has physical barrier on her weapons anyways so she's a good candidate to survive on barrier acecssories. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Formation Quest Boss: Phoenix, Ammonite, Eurus and Pythonregalstar2023-04-18 | For this one you need to go in with a 4-person party. Despite the talk about elementals probably invoking the image of magic, these four are largely physical attacks, and their biggest threats are various breath attacks (and Ammonite's Tentacle), so I should have used Duplex Barrier physical for this one. They only have 30000 HP apiece which is pretty low for quest boss standards, so going aggressively with some multi-target magic not of the four main elements can work out pretty well; trying to tank it with Alice and Parrar probably will work out less well anyways since you'll likely run out of parrar counts at some point each turn. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Formation Quest Boss: Great Cyclops + mobsregalstar2023-04-18 | The helpers for the boss are actually stage mobs from Great Temple and Gorgon Barrier (same drops and all). None of them have very high accuracy so Aya evasion tanking takes most of the danger out of the fight, and the rest is just hitting them with whatever. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Formation Quest Boss: Ryuuguu Reiki Princess and Turtleregalstar2023-04-18 | There are also some new quests that give new formations instead of materials (on the first clear, anyways). For this one at least winning is very easy because both are vulnerable to paralysis and sleep, and the turtle is vulnerable to instant death (though given that it took so many tries to stick, it's probably heavily resistant still). The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Amukihaja Lv70 and Uzubogikhi Lv70regalstar2023-04-18 | The other end of the fork tower like bosses; these two use magic and counters physicals, and since there's only two of them this time I decide to be contrary and use physicals.
Here is where the lack of knowledge about these fights kind of show for me though; I've never fought these things before and am pretty much just winging it based on information I can find on JP wiki, so I didn't know how hard they would hit; luckily they all went for my back row instead of attackers and I managed to pull a not-very-graceful win anyhow. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Mass-Produced Daemonsiderregalstar2023-04-17 | One of the V remake's new quest bosses. These guys give platinum ores? I have no idea what it's used for but I'll hold on to those I guess.
Anyways you have to fight five of these things; they will only ever use slash-elemental physical normally but if you hit them with magic, they'll counter with Comet. But taking five things down one by one is super tedious, and nobody in the game's got an all-targetting physical that's also spammable. So fuck this fork tower nonsense, I'm gonna go kill them with magic anyways! Of course in the interest of not getting buried in fifty tons of space ice, Nitori is here to use chasers to get around counters. Byakuren can tank well enough for herself with 90% physical and a swordmaster's proof, although I really should've given Nitori some secondary slash resist items so she doesn't keep folding over like that.
As a last note, unlike the original quests, all the V-exclusive quests come in pairs - the initial one is non-repeatable, but by beating it you get a tougher quest that actually IS repeatable. I'm probably gonna hold off on this one's tougher quest for a while, though; it doesn't look very breakable and I don't have anything that makes use of this platinum ore anyways. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Boss 23: Abyss Dragon + Hatred Thoughtform*4regalstar2023-04-17 | Most of the bosses in lingering summer heat have no variety resistance and thus are basically Reisen bait, especially since the V remake nerfed Reimu's offense greatly making the otherwise good alternative way to approach these battles a lot trashier in comparison. This guy does use Vortex after charging up, though, partially to remove your ability to defend against his attacks with Reimu's barriers but also wiping out whatever debuffs you stuck on him. Atwiki suggested that lowering his accuracy (without lowering evasion) could make Vortex fail to hit but that apparently didn't work out so well, so for people playing at home, do the sure thing and have Byakuren give him Perfect Resist to give him dispel immunity after you stuck four debuffs on him.The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Challenger From Another Worldregalstar2023-04-17 | Unlike the quest bosses I've gone through, this guy is actually pretty challenging. 75% resistance to variety means no Reisen stomp, and he has way too much divine shield (75%!) and PDEF (900) severely limiting who you can use on this fight.
His main weakness is a relatively sparse arsenal consisting of only a few elements (mystic, dark and slash), and no all-targetting or pierce-targetting attacks unless dark land is near extreme or he is in berserk phase (below 50% HP), meaning Alice in Poison Shield can stop most of his attacks cold when appropriately equipped (Vacuum Wave still hurts a ton no matter what you do, though). During his berserk phase he will spam Dark Giga Flare a lot, which is an all-targetting mystic attack, though he still uses "normal" attacks from time to time. The main defenses against it are Marisa's 3-bomb commander spell, Reflect Wall, Little Legion (when appropriately equipped), and Super Duplex Border, which is honestly enough that you should be able to last a good amount of turns against him. All in all, it's not too difficult to be able to defend against him, it's mostly just hurting him that's a chore as it's difficult to fit in many attackers when you need to do so much preparation to 1) just hurt him and 2) not get killed by Dark Giga Flare spam.
Well, at least that's over and done with. Now just need to do this three more times so I can get my gold clothes and all the galaxy curtains (and hopefully have Satori learn Dark Giga Flare in the next battles) orzThe Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Trailokyavijayaregalstar2023-04-17 | Another quest boss (Obsidian this time), another Reisen stomp. To this boss's credit, he's threatening enough on turn 1 that you probably need to run some heavy defenses just so that you don't have to reset the battle a million times until everything hits, but once you do land those debuffs he's Reisen bait again. Just make sure you imbue an element with Byakuren since he resists all physical elements and is immune to light and dark. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: God Eaterregalstar2023-04-17 | Unlike the previous two Kourindou bosses, this one actually has 50% resistance to variety so running him through with Reisen is less effective (it can still work if you're dedicated enough). What it doesn't resist is stuns; all kinds of stun effects will go through normally and stop it from getting turns, with Mokou's Fujiyama Volcano being the best thing to use since with a fist she has 150% base rate to inflict, and the extra fire damage hits weakness as well. She can only inflict it so many times before accumulative resistance starts kicking in, though, so you should either bring enough firepower to kill it in preferably 3 turns or less (anything above 3 starts to become inconsistent), or setup some defenses in the mean time. Since its "kill" moves are all physical and have only 153 base accuracy, setting up evasion should generally prevent it from being too much trouble. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Titanregalstar2023-04-17 | This one isn't too bad. Yuugi needs to be protected against strike, earth, paralysis, and if you can spare the slots, bad variety. The main difficulty with this fight is just levelling Yuugi to a point where she can actually do this fight stat-wise; obviously it will go much smoother if you raise her to the point where she gets Berserker Soul, but even with just -Shun Goku Satsu- Storm on Mt. Ooe it's doable; you just need a spear so you can use it every turn and not deal with his 25% stab resistance. I still had this Qubeley that I crafted back when I wanted some extra earth damage for Forest of Magic 2, which is good enough for this fight, though if you're feeling spendy the Shaheen II would be perfect. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Great Hydraregalstar2023-04-16 | You can get two Orichalcum directly from this guy, which is 4 times faster than the Rumia quest plus you don't have to find the boss. Not only is he vulnerable to all variety, he isn't even that resistant to most permanents, meaning that he's even bigger Reisen bait than the Machine Dragon Zero. At the very least in the V version he seems to always be able to use Fang Crush, instead of only when Fire land is up, so using Cirno commander to raise water land isn't effective at stopping it any more. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: King Flayerregalstar2023-04-16 | This guy gives two emeralds. Yeah. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Machine Dragon Zeroregalstar2023-04-16 | First up on my shitlist is this guy who gives you two diamonds (one from drop, one from quest reward), because I want to upgrade my 75% physical resist accessories so I can get another copy from drops, and those require a diamond each. I'll also be needing a lot more to make damage reduction accessories.
Now this guy is actually one of the tougher customers; in the original version it was vulnerable to petrify but only just - it had a 75% resistance so you could get one through after a few tries. According to people on atwiki that got taken away in the V version though and I don't really feel like rolling a 25% is consistent enough when I need to be killing this guy half a dozen times. It also has 750PDEF and 160k HP, but that doesn't matter because I'm gonna invoke a recurring theme of lignering summer heat - debuff the guy to high heavens and then send in Reisen to nuke him in a few hits. In terms of defense you mostly need to protect against Evolution Breath; his other attacks consist of single-target physical attacks and Blaster, as well as a somewhat annoying camouflage field that gives him some perfect evasion. A bit of resistance is all you need to not get paralyzed or instant killed by Blaster, since it has 0 IND.The Genius of Sappheiros V - Boss 22: Yuugiregalstar2023-04-16 | Basically a variation of the Anastasia fight. Yuugi will use only physical attacks that are all strike element, so Poison Shield + Provoke will stop most of her hits from reaching your back row, then Holland Doll will stop Alice from being hurt. You could also use Aya to evasion tank her. She uses Berserker Soul halfway through the fight but it's pretty much just more of the same, and she won't use Knockout in Three Steps under Berserker Soul any more anyhow so it's not really any more dangerous.
With Yuugi joining, most of the 7-8 star material quests will open up. They give out otherwise really-hard-to-farm things for free but feature bosses that are statistically on par with the lingering summer heat final boss. However, most of them have some kind of weakness pattern-wise or ailment-wise, so next segment of the game is gonna be a lot of farming that result in a marked improvement in equipment selection. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Wriggle and Mystiaregalstar2023-04-16 | Finally I'm done with all these stupid material quests. Now the only ones left are Yuugi's (which I obviously can't do until I actually recruit her) and the higher level ones with actually interesting boss fights, but those don't unlock until you recruit Yuugi either.
These two are actually vulnerable to instant death, and Mystia in fact is vulnerable to EVERYTHING due to what seems like a typo in her resistance table index, though she at least puts up a fight with her 120 RES. Honestly it might actually be faster to just beat these two up normally though.
Like with Rumia, there's a better way to farm adamantine later so this quest isn't worth repeating. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Rumiaregalstar2023-04-16 | Since Rumia shares the same weakness as Flandre I just opted to be lazy and use the same party for this fight. Like Nazrin Rumia barely puts up a credible fight; everything remotely damaging she does is dark elemental so if you're actually having problem tanking the fight for some reason you can always opt for dark resistance.
While Orichalcum is very useful, trying to farm it 2 shards at a time is too slow. There's a better way to farm it in just a bit, so there's no real need to repeat this. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Flandreregalstar2023-04-16 | Sakuya's material quest, unlike everyone else's, lets you go in with a full party to fight an appropriately much stronger boss. Flandre doesn't counter magic like she did on the previous fight; instead she'll just use those counter moves normally. Since I have to bring Sakuya anyways I just opted for a private square strategy, though it was delayed by me not realizing that "Casting Speed +x%" mods are additive and was mystified why Sakuya keeps outspeeding Byakuren despite Private Square having a speed mod of 1%. Also, Flandre will only attack once per round unless she opts for a normal attack, so Starlight Barrier is very reliable in giving you a free turn. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Nurikabe Brothersregalstar2023-04-16 | This quest demands a 3-on-3 instead of the usual 1-on-1, which helps speed things up... kind of? Aya's exclusive stuff all suck and Sanae doesn't get her one good exclusive weapon until much later, so you'd still be basically doing this for Nitori only.
Anyways these things have really high 900 PDEF which is kinda annoying since none of the three characters are magic attackers, or so you might think but "added damage" in this game check MDEF rather than PDEF, so Nitori with her abundance of such moves will be the forefront, at least if you have a good gun for her so she can imbue an element and get 0 CD Zero Kelvin Shot. Without a good gun this fight will take a lot longer, and having Akyuu explode the fight away might be faster than trying to do it normally. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Elite Yukkuriregalstar2023-04-16 | A kinda RNG-y annoying fight. You're fighting a yukkuri with 20 HP, and none of Reimu's spells can hurt it so the best way to approach it is to just equip an accurate sword and whack it with normal attacks and hope for double attacks and not running into that 33% emergency evade. The Yukkuri is at least very singular in attack pattern; if you equip slash resist you can ignore headlong charge for the most part, but the Annihilation from Concentrate is untankable unless you have Kagami on so you need to use Duplex Border to block it. This is basically hoping that Reimu connects enough hits to kill the thing before she runs out of bombs to use on Duplex Border. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Lesser Marisahedronregalstar2023-04-15 | This was one of the tougher solo material bosses in the original versions, because you can't really go through the guy quickly and the only thing that guard against Hedronite Beam is the Yata no Kagami, but in V version you have Akyuu and her commander skill that deals void damage, so... yeah. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Ultra Swordmasterregalstar2023-04-15 | A very bland fight. This guy uses sword attacks, petro cloud, and curse, so you make sure Youmu is protected from cut and petrify, and use her ailment healing skill from katana tree to cure curse. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Kaguyaregalstar2023-04-15 | Another annoying battle. Kaguya is really tanky for solo quest boss standard and will randomly buff her own offense and heal herself, making this fight stupidly obnoxious since she can just heal herself repeatedly through your bombs and there's basically nothing you can do about it. It's a lot easier if you do this fight with a stronger weapon than One Shot Punch, but at ~3000 damage per volcano it's really RNG.The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Illuminated Manuscriptregalstar2023-04-15 | You can bring a helper for this fight, which is appreciated as it has very high magic defense making it hard to hurt with Patchouli's magic. It is weak to slash though so a few physical attacks using that element will take it down fast. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Guffawing Tireregalstar2023-04-15 | Alice has enough defense to not really take damage from this clown, so equip a sword and just hold down that A button while you read a newspaper or something. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Tryhardin and Balchianregalstar2023-04-15 | Even with 75% resistances to all elements, Remilia cannot really tank through these two, so you want to go for quick kills. She needs a spear or javelin to hit weakness and about 230 or so accuracy to one shot Balchian reliably with Curse of Vlad Tepes, and for Tryhardin you just gotta hope you can kill it faster than it heals and/or summons helpers. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: All-Knowing SSDregalstar2023-04-15 | Lest you think all the character solo bosses are a joke, here's this royal pain in the ass. Not only does Byakuren has to solo this fight, she has to do it with nothing equipped except a weapon. You're gonna be getting hit for like 200-300 damage here (might be less if your level is higher) and stuff like 1 million volt and removal attacks. Format pierces 50% RES so you actually cannot stop it reliably; all you can do is hope that Byakuren doesn't get hit while she takes out its last 25% HP. This is a lot easier if you've gotten a Plasma Knife from the Cherubims in Gorgon Barrier but I don't have that knife. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Veteran Flayerregalstar2023-04-15 | You need 101 resistance on Satori to not to get hit with any ailment; then it's just equip a good dagger (built-in HP drain) or spear (hits weakness) and hit him with Tentacle or whatever physical moves you've learned. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Nazrinregalstar2023-04-15 | 2 Gold Nugget from a very easy boss. Nazin has no real offense of note and is weak to fire. That's about it; yeah. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Beheading Rabbit and Bamboo Monsterregalstar2023-04-15 | For Reisen's material you can bring a helper, but since this takes place in a party split dungeon you can't change your lineup right in front of the quest monster which is a bit annoying. I always bring Mokou to this fight since both of the opposition are weak to fire. Bamboo Monster can increase its all stat like its mob variant and the rabbit has instant death inflicting physicals, but you can scorch the bamboo and berserk the rabbit so it's not a big deal. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Fairy * ⑨regalstar2023-04-15 | The only character left to recruit is Yuugi but since she's in her own dungeon and all, I'm gonna take care of the material giving quests on the board that are available now before going after her. You won't be able to access the 7-8* quests until you recruit her, though, so the next bunch of videos probably aren't gonna be anything too exciting.
Despite this one being a 3 star quest, it actually puts up a really good fight. The situation is like Litos's quest where you have to send a lone character to endure attacks from multiple enemies, but this time instead of a tough goddess with 50 divine barrier and 50 regen, you have a frail caster with regen only when water land is up and a gigantic honking fire weakness. The easiest way to deal with this quest is to just give her the magatama and kagami, which will reduce damage to a point that you can easily outlast the entire battle with her regen, but I'm showcasing a strategy here that doesn't require anything more than stuff you find in the chest. By having the Inferno shield (chosen since the only element it doesn't block is strongly resisted anyways) and using Alice's 1-bomb command spell every turn, Cirno will block every attack coming her way; magic will basically not deal any damage to her (which takes care of her fire weakness since 8 times 0 damage is still 0), and the rare physicals don't deal enough damage to outlast her regen. You'll also need to use an one-handed weapon and only use attacks which allow the use of a shield; most magic spells will disable shield use like a two-handed weapon but Ice Barrier, Icicle Mirror and Last Words will not. Ice Barrier becomes the obvious way to deal damage in this fight since Cirno will be taking all the hits here, and I wouldn't bother using Icicle Mirror since it'll just deprive Cirno a chance to counter, so largely you just wait for the enemies to run into Ice Barrier enough to die that way. I didn't bother giving Alice too many bombs and she ended up running out in the end, but at that point the opposition was low enough that Cirno could clean up by herself.
Honestly it's kind of a drag either way since you have to spend so many turns, but luckily Cirno's exclusive weapons and armors all suck so you shouldn't find any good reason to repeat this quest too many times, if at all.The Genius of Sappheiros V - Character Quest Boss: Alice and Marisaregalstar2023-04-15 | I hate this fight.
Alice is the biggest problem in this fight, honestly. Not only is she a gigantic bitch to hurt with 65k HP, 999 DEF, no weakness, and a shield, she also busts out Straw Doll Kamikaze with no warning and your frontline just lost like 400 HP apiece. Marisa's spells generally don't deal that much damage and she's actually vulnerable to silence and confusion so Satori/Akyuu can shut her up pretty easily, but you'd have to get past Alice's frequent Little Legions to get a chance and she counters all physical attacks with a Master Spark, and counterattacks apparently aren't stopped by Restrict ailment effects. I had to bust out the big guns (read: Reisen) so I can kill Alice in a timely manner before she gets chance to mow me down with repeated Straw Dolls. Thankfully chasers will stop all counterattacks so as long as Nitori is on the field, getting around the Master Spark isn't so difficult. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Character Quest Boss: Satori, Orin and Okuuregalstar2023-04-14 | Satori still has Elixir and will cast it with no warning or pattern, but now that you can have Mokou, inflicting Curse on her will cause her to take damage when healing (though if she's using Elixir on herself, it will cure the Curse afterwards). The other thing to note is to kill Okuu before Orin, or you'll be eating Mega Flares. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Character Quest Boss: Youmu and Yuyukoregalstar2023-04-14 | Another main game boss combo reprise. Yuyuko doesn't say goodbye with a resistance ignoring Resurrection Butterfly any more, but she will randomly bust out Resurrection Butterfly 50%, which doesn't pierce resistance but has 150% base chance so even with Sanae's Wind of Protection it'll probably tag everyone. Shinigami Formation will deal with that nicely, though. Defensively they're basically the same, but you should have many more option now and it's not difficult to just pierce through yuyuko's evade with just raw accuracy stat this time around. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Character Quest Boss: Remilia and Flandreregalstar2023-04-14 | As far as I can tell, this fight is tailor made for Sakuya. Both will use a spell card on turn 1 and every 5 turns afterwards, and 5 turn is exactly how long Sakuya's Private Square rotation is, so it becomes one of the best ways to not get bothered by it. She also hits with Slayer for Weiss sword so she can deal a lot of damage during private square, as well. Nitori's new gun is also super effective against them, so all in all the damage rush is pretty easy to do here. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Character Quest Boss: Sakuya and Patchouliregalstar2023-04-14 | The same boss combo that was fought at the very start of the game, these two acts largely the same, using bomb reload to charge up for spell cards. Sakuya's spells aren't too threatening if you have a resistance buff up to not get hit with instant death, but Patchouli's Philosopher's Stone will probably kill the entire party in one hit, so I was really hoping that either she won't use it, or Byakuren will land a power down on time for it. Nitori's orichalcum gun puts in a lot of work in this battle, at least. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Material Quest Boss: Strong Kedama*12regalstar2023-04-14 | Took a bit of a break from character gathering since I kind of want the 8 quests resolved recipes (which lets me convert regular character materials into gold character materials), so I took on something that's really easy to do instead.
Every character (except Akyuu?) gets a quest where you have to do a boss fight with that character (and usually that character alone, though there are twists on a few of them). You can still use a commander for those fights, though. These don't have consistent difficulty and can range from complete cakewalk to a huge nightmare; this one is pretty far on the cakewalk side though it can take a damn long time. Litos has to solo 12 kedamas with 10k apiece; surviving is easy enough since they do pathetic damage and LItos has built-in 50 divine shield plus 50 regen on her tree, but she lacks effective AoE damage until whatever level it is that she picks up Ras Algol Maenads, so you're basically just gonna be plinking these things while waiting for your last word to come along and speed it up. So of course RNG in this fight saw fit to give me that last word RIGHT when I got the stupid thing down to a single kedama at silver of HP left. For people who're gonna be playing this game later, do yourself a favor and rely on Akyuu to kill them instead; give her the awakening soul and magic CD-1 augmentation so she can use Explosion every turn and finish this fight for you in much better time. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Character Quest Boss: Byakuren and Murasaregalstar2023-04-14 | A bit more tricky than the other 3 star quest. Byakuren will give herself a 100% divine shield buff whenever she doesn't have it, so you need to either dispel it every turn or just carry weapons with exorcism. Murasa will summon anchors occasionally, which are field magic that do annoying things at end of turn like healing both themselves for 25% HP (which is 4250 for Byakuren and 7000 for Murasa), but she's vulnerable to berserk. Since you have one girl who will continuously try to buff herself and another who can be hit with Berserk, I figured that Reisen is the perfect character for this job, though in the end I forgot to actually set any axe skills to Aya so she couldn't help Reisen out on that. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Character Quest Boss: Reisen and Eirinregalstar2023-04-13 | At 3 stars these fights are getting a bit more serious. You have to fight two bosses here, and while they don't do much normally, every 4 turns starting on the 4th they'll use Starlight Arrow/Lunatic Red Eyes which hurt a lot. Both are physical attacks though and the 4 turn interval is long enough that Reimu can cover that. The Genius of Sappheiros V - Character Quest Boss: Ayaregalstar2023-04-13 | Aya has a lot of evasion, can raise it further with Tengu Newspaper's Deadline Day (at least in the original version; she never used it here and I suspect many of these bosses patterns actually got changed through the V transition), and will randomly reflect back breath and magic attacks, so you might want to do this after you get Sanae, who can use accuracy buffs and overwrite her field skill. She doesn't do anything exciting offensively and as long as you can hit her you should have no problem beating her.
