A little bit of yardwork and the big installation happened.Our friend Donald ( contractor extraordinaire) came out once again to assist us with this next step. We are still learning and will only be more educated when we build our little Outdoor Experience rental Cabins. All six windows, the door and lock were installed with ease.It is totally coming together and the next steps will be the deck, truss supports and few finishing touched before our structure inspection from the county.Once again, thanks so much for following !!!Cheers Colleen and Jonny

Another push to get the cabin dried in before we left the UP for the weekend. Once again, we had the best assistance from our mentor extraordinaire Donald and our neighbors. Once the walls were up and secured, it was time for sheeting and what a difference that made in the structure...it was slowly becoming a cabin....our cabin.Donald, Dan, Tom and Jeff were so integral in these next stages as the heavy lifting and added safety in placing the trusses. We had our trusses designed and manufactured from Skandia Truss who is a very credible company and knows the snow load importance of building in the Upper Peninsula.The weather was on side and perfect for the next step which will be wrapping it up until we return next month. Spring is naturally wet and we expect that with all the rain and snow melt BUT...what we didn't foresee was when our excavator moved a big pile of dirt near our access road he inadvertently blocked both ends of the culvert. We had every intention of semi-completing our 12 x 24 off grid cabin but mother nature and just plain running out of time got the best of us! The area around the build was very slippery, we were scarping ice off the wood and the tools were getting coated as well. All of these things made for a dangerous work environment. Heading north to kamp we had a little hiccup with the camper. A lovely lady named Angie stopped for us and had a tow truck company help us out.
