Current state of affairs. Added leveling up (previous demos used to crash), evolving (not possible before), name entry both to the trainers AND new Pokemon, and obviously the intro sequence to the "New Game" mode, which no longer spits you to Red's room. Progress is slowly but surely.

Main Pokedex menu works! (The error comes up due to missing Pokemon entries)
I've added new Pokemon entries that are visible at the start of the video, up to Cloyster, #91 in the Kanto Pokedex. This takes time because I have to manually add the stats by hand, each stat per Pokemon, but I went from Mankey to Cloyster in a couple of hours, so in a couple of more I should be able to tackle the rest of the 60 missing.

This video features all the events I've been working so far. There's a few glitches that happened during gameplay, like the crazy potion-giving NPC that thinks he's oak and runs around, the guy that has grass in his head, the magic clipboard in the PokeMart... the list goes on! But, this is how the full game will be playing for the most part. Pretty identical to the original! Demo will be released once I fix these glitches, and add the second rival battle next to viridian city. Unfortunately, this version of the game does not include the trainers in Viridian Forest from my last demo (I'm not sure what I did with them), so they will no be in the demo. I'm very excited to show you guys this because I haven't made an update in about two months.... unfortunately shortly after the last update, I FAILED TO BACK UP THE CURSED BLACK FILE after I had to do a clean install of Ubuntu. This means, all the coding progress I made from when I first got out of summer, from May to the beginning of July, ALL THAT PROGRESS WAS FOR NONE AND I HAD TO START OVER. GODDAMNIT THIS PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH. I swear I was in a depression for a few days after that happened... and had to restart a lot of things I fixed in the last video from an older backup file. This set me back quite a lot. Now I'm not only caught up but I'm past the point where my last save file was.. AND now I have an active backup of the game file in my external hard drive and in dropbox. This is not going to happen again.
There isn't a HUGE amount of visible progress here because believe it or not, i've been bug-fixing all summer (i'm talking about bugs that were present in the LAST demo that I could never figure out but I finally sat down and fixed them), and finally I got enough things working to show a demo.
Right now the following works:
Creating a Pokemon Pokemon learning attacks by level Pokemon fainting Pokemon being cursed Party system with switching enabled Trainer battles Cursing Trainers (as in, tombstone curse, not verbal...) Events with NPC (got my own language working in Game Maker) Wild pokemon battles, real or with Ghost

A lot of things have happened in my life between this video and the last one i've uploaded, Cursed Black Progress 13. However, the development is not dead, and if anything it was only slowed down severely. I'm running on a Linux computer now, using Ubuntu 14.04, which means that the software I've been using for years, Game Maker, is not meant for Ubuntu and therefore I have to use Wine in order to make it run. As far as I know, there have been no problems except for a few slowdowns in the code editor that affect the development too much.
For the past two weeks I've been working on re-writting my really unorganized and uncommented old code from years ago in order for me to know what's going on in the game while looking at the code. It's been going really well! however, not a lot of "progress" has been made.
as of now, the main changes are that all those maps I've been working on for the past year are finally starting to be integrated to the main game's engine. This means that sooner rather than later I'll have a demo with a full overworld running!
The next planned demo will be just that: the whole overworld being accessible to walk through. it probably won't have every person, trainer, and pokemon programmed in, but it WILL have the overworld part accessible and SOME battle encounters to use ghost in.
thanks for those who are still patiently waiting. your continued support is a BIG motivator for me to work on this game after this long (dev started in 2010!)

Welcome to the third beta release of Cursed Black. If you are here to simply download the game and try it out, read no further than this paragraph: all the controls are inside the zip file in a textfile called "readme.txt" (you'd be surprised how many people STILL ask me where the controllers are). Do note that this is a BETA, UNFINISHED release, and EVERYTHING in this game may be subject to change or incomplete. This is an EXECUTABLE windows file that will run on newer graphics cards, and nothing older than Windows XP. This is not in any way, shape or form, a ROM, a ROM hack, or anything of the sort, so it should be perfectly legal to download, since it is custom made by me. Anyone that tries to convince you otherwise is bullshitting you to the max. This is a FANMADE game that is not affiliated with the story in any way, the story was not created from this game, this game was created for this story. There is another group out there called "CreepyBlack" that also tried to recreate this game. THAT IS NOT ME. I don't care what those guys' project goals are, they are not the same as mine. I'm not trying to make the game creepy or scary, any suggestions that try to make this game like that will be most likely ignored. Take it to creepyblack. So far, I've recieved no programming help from anyone, so anyone that tells me to hurry up needs to shut up and put themselves in the shoes of a fulltime college student and part time working: I don't have time. I will continue to release these until the demo is ready. Shouldn't be long now, but you never know. I know the demo's long overdue, but I keep loosing motivation to work on this, actually, I only got it back this morning. I'm sorry if I keep you guys waiting too long, but working on this is a pain without any motivation to do so. Big apologies to those who are still waiting to work on the game, you're gonna have to wait a bit longer (working on it now just raises the risk of having to redo the work later cause the engine keeps changing, I'm trying to avoid that).
Additional notes: In the previous video, I stated that trainer's graves would appear immediately after the trainer battle and would stay that way. Turns out I can't leave that system in because glitches would occur. The level up music is also introduced in this version of the game, but it slipped my mind to show Charmander leveling up... And something fun to note, in most of my videos showing Ghost using Curse, very little, actually, none, have stated that the PP display is wrong (would display 0/1 PP or even -1/1 most of the time, because of a glitch). This is the first video in which the glitch, at long last, is fixed. Even though I've said the glitch has been fixed like twice before already.

Also, to test out a new piece of music I got from user CrAzYgUiTaRrIsT, for trainer battles. This won't be the main trainer battle theme, but would instead play on irregular battles -- important battles storywise to Cursed Black, such as Green, but that do not appear in the original Red/Blue.
Again, a Lost Silver/Cursed Black crossover is likely not going to happen, this is just for testing purposes only.

She serves the purpose of the players not being able to do Ghost-only runs, as "Curse" cannot "kill" ghost type Pokemon, and this will force players to level up their other Pokemon, instead of just using Ghost all throughout.
Green is Red's female counterpart, who Leaf is based on. Apparently, the original Red/Blue were supposed to have a female character to play with, but never got around it I guess.

Two fights that would take ROM hackers months to figure out how to do on the actual games.

This was nicknamed "Lost Black" to keep up with my own name (for those of you that still don't know, Lost Silver is a name me and a few other people came up with for my *game*, fans just gave the creepypasta the name of "Lost Silver" shortly after). But honestly, that name didn't work -- you couldn't find it on search engines and it had nothing in relation to the story. "Cursed Black," however, gets the point across, so that'll be the name of the version I am creating.
Anyways, on to something some of you have been waiting for months and months, it may not be much but it's *something.* Be sure to read the readme.txt, and please don't be stupid and complain this is not done. This has almost been 2 months of work, and it's not even showing *everything* that has been programmed.

Pokemon created now have their stats determined by IVs and Stat Exps, have typing, everything a regular Pokemon has in R/B/Y.
Wild Pokemon don't exist yet, only a Missingno. image as a placeholder (notice how the opponent never gets a turn, this is why). I also don't use any attacks because there is no enemy. The only attack that "works" is Curse, because it needs no enemy information. Consider this a broken part of the game, it's not considered to be a story. It's very flawed and I didn't think this was going to happen when I added the black void easter egg. But, a youtuber named JoselitaXIII found out all the stuff that can happen, and here it is on it's fastest form.
Things that were changed from Lost Silver for this video: Gold's speed is at x2 Only need to speak to two people in Goldenrod City (Gray) in order to proceed "Black Void" is cleared and I allowed myself to be able to use "Start" in the black void, though it's not really required (just use flash before entering the room)
The spanish translation is not done. Mainly because I have no idea how I'm going to translate some things in spanish. But it'll be in the works when I get some time away from Lost Black.Last HiddenReidd Maxwell2011-01-15 | If "Last Crystal Hidden" is the latest playable version of Lost Silver's engine before it got turned into, well, Lost Silver, then this, "Last Hidden," is the earliest. Playable version that is. Sad to say, that even if this is Lost Silver's engine at it's worst, it actually kinda looks more interesting than "Last Crystal Hidden." Now that I look back anyway.
This version is actually still online. The only reason I was able to play this is because I made archives a long time ago (only like, four versions though, like 3 are playable on recent machines). I wasn't able to edit this one out because of the lack of the source code, or else I would have been able to shown all the starters (and taken out Missingno., which kicked my poor Torchic's ass :( )
Again, this is very early (version number says it was made on 9/15/2008) so a lot of things don't work properly. I'm actually ashamed I at one point put this up for download...Last Crystal HiddenReidd Maxwell2011-01-15 | Here it is, the game before Lost Silver, and the game that made Lost Silver. Done in 2007 (version shown in video was last worked on 2009), a work of almost 2 years. No, it's not a hack nor is it an emulator, it's a custom game made by an at-the-time 16 (17?) year old. Basically, this video is Lost Silver's same engine running the beginning of Crystal version, showing what the engine is capable of doing.
This is OLD. It's shown here for the sake of it being shown. It is not one of my current projects, nor does it relate to them other than the programming part.
I am showing you this to let you know, that I've been working on Lost Black for, a month I think. Out of that month, I've worked on it five days, and five days have already beaten 6 months of progress that took Last Crystal Hidden to accomplish. LCH's engine is very badly done, while it gets the job done, it makes it very hard to develop a game over it. The intro alone (up until the part where you leave the house) took me a good month. Something ROM hackers would have done in a few minutes probably.
One of the things that I found out is that this thing has customizable controls. Which means, so do Lost Silver and Lost Silver Hidden, because they use the same engine. These are set up via a separate program that create a textfile for the game to read. I've lost the program's source code, but the actual program itself seems to be still online. Sorry to say though, it is not Vista or Windows 7 compatible (which makes it really useless).
Now, things to say about the game:
It is called Crystal, because it was supposed to be Crystal version with extended maps (meaning, travel to other regions too).
In earlier versions, the player was allowed to choose the region and starter, (regions included Hoenn and Sinnoh), allowing the player to start with whatever starter they wanted. This was changed when the intro got changed into being the one in Crystal. (The video of that will be uploaded soon enough to show what I mean).
The Town Map isn't glitched. My friend made another map (one I forgot about when I was recording). This is why the cursor moves and still shows the names of the old towns. The map is just different.
Save, never worked (it is in it's ultimate broken form in this video).
