This could also be titled as “video game based media that made Meg cry once she realized they were doing father/child feels”
You guys know by now I’m a sucker for father/child relationships, especially since I’m so close to my own dad. So when a couple of months ago I got on a video gaming kick (introduced myself to Death Stranding because I heard about the sequel coming out, finally got around to finishing Resident Evil 8, etc), I was not expecting to get hit back to back of stories about Good Dads Doing Their Best. Mix that with still thinking about Arcane 24/7 and THAT hyperfixation not going away, I just sat there looking at these two games and this one show I wanted to edit with, with the same theme, and thought to myself “why not make a multifandom video?” Which definitely makes this probably my weirdest combination of fandoms to date. I actually went into the video a little nervous because of that but MAN once I got rolling. I’m really proud of a lot of the parallels I did here, and even just getting the opportunity to show my love for these stories. Shout out to Resident Evil 8 in particular, because RE 7 and 8 are my favorite horror games of all time (I have a lot of nostalgia for 7 especially) with Ethan being one of my favorite video game protagonists ever, and I never thought I was ever gonna edit them. Thank you RE8 for giving me a reason to!
Much like my recent Bill & Ford video, this was a song I’ve previously used in a MEP I hosted in one of the studios I’m in, with the same theme of father/child relationships. Truthfully, there was a lot of other songs I could’ve used but this one in particular just fit the vibes and mood that I wanted to convey with these relationships. In particular, I really wanted to use that instrumental bit so I could use voiceovers and sound effects. I had the vision, as they say. I think this is also the most fun I’ve had with voiceovers in a while because I liked overlapping a voiceover from one media but showed a different one on screen. It was a different way of doing parallels for me and as someone who looovvveeesss editing parallels like no tomorrow, I liked getting to experiment with that format! Also I’m really happy to be integrating more overlay transitions into my long form videos lol. I see what all the hype is about now!
Last final note, I will shout out Booker & Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite and Joel & Ellie from Last of Us, who were pairings I also considered for this video. Joel & Ellie simply didn’t make the cut because I wanted to use too much footage from the other 3 media and I just didn’t wanna sacrifice too many good moments for the sake of fitting something in. Annnndd Booker & Elizabeth got axed because I still really *really* don’t like that game’s ending lol. I get sour about it.

Hey wow so this came out of nowhere XD. This is for AiraSora’s Say My Name MEP, which is a song from the Beetlejuice musical! (Yes they made a Beetlejuice musical and yes it is amazing)
This MEP part actually comes with a bit of story. I actually had entered this back when it first came out, but I was never really super inspired to edit my part because I wasn’t completely satisfied with the piece of the song I had chosen and I ended up just getting caught up in other things. So I dropped out. Come the start of October, and I start thinking about the MEP again and how I felt kinda bad that I had dropped out. And THEN, LITERALLY A DAY LATER, two parts open back up and ONE OF THEM was one of the parts I originally wanted. Good things apparently CAN happen in 2020.
Also can I just say: Hi, I’m Meg. And I love musicals but editing with them is very hard. This is one of the few times where I’m actually happy with the lip syncing and playing with the visuals of musicals so YAY!
Since I know peeps are gonna ask, the girl I used to portray Lydia is Abba from a movie called Asterix and the Vikings. I don’t totally remember what prompted me to download it? I just know that I did and then when I looked through the animation I was so blown away by how good it was and ultimately I’m pretty surprised this leading lady has never been used in a crossover before. I picked her because she gave off that vibe that Lydia has from her animation. Youthful but still very spunky and aggressive.
Extra side note: Pls listen to the entire Beetlejuice soundtrack it’s amazing and also look up funny moments from the musical on YouTube because it is seriously the funniest shit ever. I watched the movie the day after I saw the musical and man, the musical is such a massive improvement. Not even from just a story and character perspective, but in how fucking HILARIOUS it is. I laughed so hard.
