Every National Day, Singapore’s restaurants and fast-food chains release limited-edition dishes inspired by local flavours. This year, I challenged myself to try at least 10 different National Day food items - from McDonald’s x Old Chang Kee’s Curry Potato Chicken Burger and KFC’s Curry x Sambal Zinger to Din Tai Fung’s Chilli Crab Xiao Long Bao and the National Day buffet at Edge, Pan Pacific Singapore.
I also tried Singapore-inspired German food at Brotzeit, including Salted Egg Schnitzel, Rendang Goulash, Laksa Spätzle and Mala Pork Knuckle, followed by MOS Burger’s Chilli Crab Ebi Burger.
Some dishes were amazing, some were unusual, and some worked much better than I expected. Watch until the end to see which ones were actually worth eating and which dish became my overall favourite.
