I took a $15 train straight from the Inland Empire into the middle of downtown LA, no freeway, no parking, no traffic. Metrolink dropped me off at Union Station, and from there I spent a full day exploring the city on foot: a brand new AI art museum, a free contemporary art museum, the actual birthplace of Los Angeles, a building Blade Runner made famous, the shortest railway in the world, and one of the oldest markets on the West Coast. Then I got back on the train and rode home. If you live in the Inland Empire and think LA means sitting in traffic, this might change your mind.
