Women across the planet are reclaiming their sacred rites of passage and birthing their babies on their terms. Are you ready to answer the call?
"Free Birth Society gave women a voice to be heard. It reached me when I was in my young 20s and I knew there wasn’t another option for me. Hearing these women, leading all different walks of life, birth the same way…. Intuitively, at home, with only their chosen support, it spoke life into me that I could do this too. No permission needed."

"I told her I wasn’t actively pushing and she said, “This baby is a lot closer than we think!” I told her Hayden wouldn’t make it in time and she tried to reassure me that I didn’t know that but I did. This baby was coming quickly and had already moved down to where I could touch her head. When I realized Hayden wouldn’t make it, there was a release that I felt like I’d been holding onto. I’d been holding back and not relaxing as much as I could.
I wasn’t upset by this at all, it was a knowing deep inside me that it was just baby and I doing this together. We were meant to do this together.
A very long pause, nothing happened and I was talking to Jennifer while laying my head along the tub edge. Still, there wasn’t pain, it was a lot of sensations at once and I could pick them out and focus on one at a time. There was baby’s head coming down farther. There was baby movement that I didn’t enjoy in the moment. There were my own hips that felt exhausted and my arms were starting to shake when a contraction would end. I had my eyes closed for most of the time, choosing to feel everything and go deeper into the birthing realm instead of reality. I waited for the moment of transition, of feeling like it was too much and I couldn’t do it, but it never came. Instead, there was a calm resolve that this is what we were doing and I was prepared to go through the rest of birth.
One long strong push, I felt the ring of fire as baby’s head came out. I was telling baby to come out slowly, that we had time. Jennifer had a towel between me and the toilet so baby wouldn’t go directly in the toilet.
I knew baby would rotate and was waiting to feel that. Jennifer said she could see the whole face and baby immediately started making gurgling noises.
I told my baby we were working together and needed just a little longer. There was no fear, only determined words of affirmation to confirm what was happening. The moment went on and on. I went down to my knees with one leg propped up and felt another urge to push. Still nothing. I took some deep breaths and relaxed my body. Waiting was the only option. Finally, my body contracted at the same time as my baby moved down and out.
I reached down and caught baby, sitting back and bringing them up to me. I was thanking God over and over for the breath from this baby. Moments later I saw I’d had a little girl. She was beautiful, with so much hair! She was wide-eyed and so quiet. One small cry then she just looked around her. We got some of the liquid out of her lungs and sat there together.
Jennifer was so happy, going to get us towels and a bowl for the placenta. I kept talking to this beautiful girl and told her her daddy would be here soon. We called him to tell him he had a little girl and he was still 20 minutes away. It was such an emotional moment that we were separated.
I was freezing but there wasn’t a ton of blood. I felt my placenta laying heavy, ready to be birthed, so about 10 minutes after she was born I got up on my knees again. Tugging on the cord along with a small push and it came right out. Beautiful color, strong cord, she was getting all she needed.
Llewellyn Diae Lacey was born at 1:30 am on December 4th, 2022. Into my own hands, in the bathroom, without any need for anything else. My mother-in-law made an amazing birth keeper on short notice. We weighed Llewellyn later that day and to my surprise, she was 8lbs 7oz! Absolutely healthy in every way."
