Good morning friends and welcome back to the homestead. We got back from the cabin and immediately realized we only had a couple days before heading to Wisconsin, so today turned into one of those “try to get a thousand things done” kind of days.
We’re out working around the yard, digging up lemon balm because the chickens are tearing everything apart again, checking on the asparagus after all the rain, transplanting little volunteer sunflowers, and talking through what retirement is honestly feeling like for us right now. We’re learning that even when you finally have time, there’s still only so much of it and figuring out how to balance projects, travel, relaxing, and homestead life has been a bigger adjustment than we expected.
Also, because apparently we enjoy making life harder on ourselves, we picked up a gorgeous old bedroom set from Facebook Marketplace even though this was probably the worst possible time to do it. But it was solid wood and beautiful and sometimes you just have to say yes.
