It's a cover of the ending theme from Gundam GQuuuuuuX! I made this specifically for Firecracker Music Collection Vol.46 (titled "Let's get the Bakunova"), which came out a little less than a month ago. The song is the TV-size version, meaning it ends in just over a minute instead of the full length version. This was mainly due to filesize constraints for the collection as well as my own personal burnout at the thought of working on it any longer, lol.
Creating this song was suggested by the album organizer, CHEMOOL, so I familiarized myself a bit more with the Gundam's recent installments. Of course, I'm pretty sure everyone's heard of Gundam, but some (like GQuuuuuuX so far) haven't yet spread super far out of Japan. So I actually still need to commit and watch the full series! I've only seen clips from earlier this year.
Here's a little story about this song that I didn't even mention in the Firecracker collection. Since it's a song with a very loose swing rhythm, I wasn't sure exactly how to transcribe the feeling into the text format of MML. Basically, if you want the 16th notes to swing, you have to manually adjust every single 16th note to an exact value. So to keep this simple, I tried to arrange it as like a 24th note swing, so that the values were easy to remember and I could write it in real time. But after I reached the second verse (around 50 seconds in), I realized that it just wasn't sounding right, so I decided to manually and painstakingly convert every single 24th note into a looser swing. I settled for something like this: 14-10, 14-10, 14-10, 14-10. Those numbers represent the note lengths in ticks. Anyway, it's complicated, but the gist of it is, this became one of the hardest covers I've ever made.
It's quite a departure from what I usually make on this channel (98% video game covers), but I'm hoping to do more like it. I hope you enjoyed it!
