Strategy for the first boss in Emerald Nightmare on heroic.
Hmm after rewatching this I think I may have sped the fight up abit TOO much in this video lol. Ah well, I'll slow it down in the heroic vid.
Whew! ALOT of stuff to explain in this fight lol. Hopefully I explained it well enough. Enjoy and more to come!
Yea I'm back =P. I'll upload an update vid later on about what to expect from me and this channel in the future. In the meantime just wanted to put together a quick vid to get back into the swing of things. Forgot what a time consuming process this can be lol.
Anyway my guild doesn't start officially raiding til Oct 4, but we poked our head in emerald nightmare normal to check out the fights last night. It's only normal so pretty simple stuff and downed most of the fights first attempt.
My DPS is pretty shit in this vid as I didn't pick up pots and wasn't aware that they make up a pretty substantial portion of your dps: 18% of the other warrior's dps was from potion of the old war. So... yea make sure you come to raid prepared kiddies! Less you want to look like a chump like I did in this vid haha.
Anyway hope you guys enjoy =) Tried commentating the video instead of using the text, but honestly it kinda ruined the music and wasn't really enjoyable to watch, so decided to stick to the old school format. I don't know, let me know which way you guys would prefer... Assuming your still reading this crap in which case: here's a cookie =P
Our current progress is 12/12 normal and 2/13 heroic (Halfus and Chimaeron).
This is going to be my last upload for 3 weeks when I will FINALLY be getting my new computer! I'm planning a pretty big overhaul of my channel. Strat vids will be returning for all the heroic versions of the current content. I'm planning a few non-boss related warcraft videos as well, but I'll leave those as a surprise =). Expect some commentary videos down the line too.
In addition to my World of Warcraft videos: I will soon start uploading things from other games as well, starting with Rift and "hopefully" if I get into the closed beta: Tera (which is by far my most anticipated game of the year). Check it out at www.tera-online.com
Overall the quality of my videos as well as my channel in general will receive some much needed attention, so stay tuned!
Oh also the song in the video is Unholy Warcry from Rhapsody's album "Symphony of Enchanted Lands Vol. 2: The Dark Secret". Check it out: it's an EXCELLENT album that tells a sort of LotRs-ish story narrarated by Christopher Lee through out.
Finally made it through an entire kill without the fire lagging fraps out! So this was our 2nd or 3rd kill of this guy, Pretty epic encounter (I love dragon bosses!).
To everyone that keeps asking and messaging me about strats and when/if I'm going to add them, just be patient! I just started a new job so been very busy IRL and just havn't had the time to sit down and put them up yet. As soon as I find the time I will get to work on them, hopefully won't be too much longer.
After their up all future vids I upload will have strats the day of upload, so will be no more waiting for them.
We're currently working on Cho'gall so hopefully the vid for him will be up soon!
Probably my favorite fight so far, those wind tunnels are fun! (and yes I know: epic fail for taking it at an angle and missing the platform in the vid =P)
Had this video up Sunday night with a different song and Werner music group quickly swooped in and disabled the audio so had to take it down due to "copyright violations". Whatever, so took me a couple days to get the motivation to work on it again. Anyway..
Things got a tad dicey towards the end obviously, To those not familiar with the fight once he reaches 20% you can no longer heal (heals are reduced by 99%) so that's why he was bouncing around from dps to dps killing us at the end. Our 2nd kill this week we actually went in with our MT at full health and he still made pretty quick work of him lol, so something tells me the achievment where you can only have 2 players die in the fight is going to be a bitch.
We finished our first week at 5/6 BWD and 2/4 BoT. We're only halfway through our 2nd week of raiding and have already recleared those 7 bosses, so should have some more vids up pretty soon.
Our first week of raiding has been going very well. Had to skip straight to the Maloriak video because the Omnitron Defense System fight lagged me to hell while frappsing so had to stop halfway through the fight so I didn't get myself killed. As did our kills of that blind dragon guy and the double dragons in Bastion of Twilight (can't remember their names.) Might have to wait till next month when I get my new CPU to fraps those.
Next video should be Chimaron or whatever (5th boss in BWD). Expect it Monday some time assuming the fight doesn't slow my framerate to a crawl and we down him when we raid Sunday (I'm guessing we will judging by the difficulty of the normal encounters so far.)
Happy Raiding.
Not our cleanest first kill, things got a tad hairy towards the end there where we lost a few people. But we did end up getting the achievment "parasite evening" which was a nice little surprise. Apparantly were pro at not getting hit by parasites, just not the fireblast shit lol.
More vids coming soon, Happy raiding =)
Decided to go ahead and start my videos now rather than wait untill I purchase my new computer. Hopefully the quality turns out alright. I run the game in 1680x1050 but I record in half that size otherwise I would get like 2 fps while playing lol. And unfortunatly the video program I'm using doesn't allow me to save files that size so Had to go 1200x750 or something like that. So all the resolution shifts may blur the picture quality abit.
Anyway, As you can see that is not Tanknspank I am playing. Decided to take advantage of the expansion gear reset and try out something new. I am now playing a Worgen Frost Death Knight named Reservoirdog. I'm having a blast with it and glad I decided to switch things up abit. I've been playing Tank since vanilla wow so it's nice to try something new.
Assuming everything works out with this upload and I'm happy with the quality: be ready for quite a few new uploads next week. Our first "official" week of 25man raiding begins Tuesday and I'm pretty confident were going to get quite abit down, so look forward to that =P.
I'll add strats to this vid abit later via annotations, We downed him pretty quick so still not 100% on all of his mechanics. I'll do some reading up and add the details next week with my next batch of uploads.
Happy Raiding =)
So It's been over a year since I've uploaded a video! Sorry for the long absence: I ended up taking a long break from the game to put some much needed priority on real life. Luckily the break was exactly what I needed to get things straight and I have returned!
As you can see from the quality of this video my computer is sorely lacking the power to run this game while frappsing. With fraps running my computer chugs the game at an abysmal 5-10 fps which is hardly optimal raid performance. So in light of this I've decided that I just can't make the videos with the quality that I want untill I get a new CPU. So don't expect to see new videos from me (except this one) untill I can make that happen =(.
It won't be a long wait, probably 3 months at the latest (if not sooner). I will keep you guys updated. In the mean time enjoy the first raid tier of cataclysm and look forward to my MUCH IMPROVED videos that will showcase the fights at max graphic settings and a nice widescreen 1080 HD resolution =).
Also to comment specifically on WotLK: I had a great time! It obviously wasn't all great (Naxx and ToC) but this expansion definitly had some true gems in Ulduar and ICCheroic. I ended up joining a fantastic guild about a year or so ago with some of the nicest people I've met in this game.
The Heroic LK kill your seeing in this video was Vek'nilash's server first earned on 11-24 (yea yea, were months behind). Anyway I don't want to ramble on here, so I'll end this by giving a heartfelt thanks to all the officers and members of Cohors Praetoria for keeping the guild a well oiled machine and always making raiding fun =P. And thanks to all of my subscribers for supporting my little channel 2 expansions now. See you guys in Cata ;)
SONG: "Horseplay" from the game Red Dead Redemption's soundtrack.
Songs:
Logan Through Time- From the "xmen origins: wolverine" soundtrack.
Maenam- From the game "Braid"s sound track.
Still Alive- Ending theme from the game "Portal". THE CAKE IS A LIE!
Phase1: Gormok- Put 2 tanks on him, He will put a stackable debuff on whoever is tanking, Once the MT reaches 2-3 stacks have your OT taunt him off, rinse repeat. Fire will be dropping throughout the zone, just stay out of it. Snobolds will spawn throughout this phase (up to 4 I think). They will latch on to a random players back and attack them and interupt their casts untill they are killed. We just had ranged turn and nuke em. Once Gormok is killed phase 2 starts:
Phase 2: Acidmaw & Dreadscale- One worm stays rooted in the ground, the other is Mobile. Put a tank on both and have the tank on the mobile worm kite him around to avoid standing in the poison clouds. The worms will place fire/poison debuffs on players. Players with the poison debuff can run to the Fire debuffed player to dispell it. Just burn Acidmaw down first, then quickly finish off the other. This phase is pretty simple. Every 40ish seconds though they will burrow again and drop threat.
Phase 3: Icehowl- He does an Ice breath that freezes players, human racial/pvp trinks/etc can dispell it. Gimmicky part of this phase is he will jump to the center of the room, do a "warstomp" kind of thing that sends everyone flying to the walls. Then he will pick a random person, jump back and charge full speed at them. The stun gives everyone in the raid a movement speed increase, so when he starts to charge everyone just get the fuck out of the way! If he doesn't hit anyone he will slam into the wall and stun himself increasing all damage done to him by 100%. If he hits the player he will one shot them and enrage for 10 seconds (can be tranq shot).
So yea, just don't get hit by him, and this phase is easy.
Song is Super Buster by Alien Project.
Another guild on my server completed and got their drakes almost the exact same time we did which is why there are so many on the landing lol.
And the algalon part at the end is just a quick fraps I did right after we got firefighter and i could summon him. If you remember my "you are not prepared!" vid with illidian that yea its pretty much the same thing here. Just a quick and dirty wipe so we can all get a look at him before we called it.
So yea, I'll try and keep the hardmode vids coming at a steady pace, enjoy!
Songs are: Baba O'riley by The Who, and Fever Dream from the 300 soundtrack.
Paladins: stack int like a motherfucker, spiritual attunement and judgement of the wise will get you mana back still
Druids: Lifeblooms while standing in shadow crashes
Priests: Go Disc and just spam shields in shadow crashes.
Shamans: spec enhancement, use improved stormstrike and you'll pretty much never run out of mana.
We 3 healed it in this video, but this last week we 2healed it with a priest and druid. So once you get used to it and do it a couple times it gets considerably easier (obviously lol).
But yea: dodge your basic things like shadow crashes and get the fuck away if you get life leech (mark of the faceless) so you dont spam heal the boss.
We use a DK to tank him so he can Icebound fortitude through his "surge of darkness", any other tank should have a cooldown rotation worked out with the healers. All ranged dps make sure you stand in the goo that the shadow crash leaves as it increases you magical damage by 100% (pretty much wait to dps till your in one).
He will also cast "searing flames" every 12 seconds or so that MUST be kicked, does large damage to the entire raid as well as reducing armor by 75%
4 minutes into the fight, and if you havn't killed a single saronite vapor they will all spawn into an "animus". Vezax will go immune and the animus is IMMUNE TO TAUNT, so do not DPS till your tank gets it. We have our DK drop death and decay to get the innitial aggro, then we pop heroisms and just burn him down. Once the add is dead quickly finish off vezax and HUZZAH! ya did it.
He will not cast searing flames when he goes immune, so your interupter can switch to the animus.
Song is: Omega by S.S.H.
If you failed to kill the heart wipe it and try again, if you killed it: Have the tank pick up any of the big bots that may have spawned, and drag them and the boss to the middle of the room. First off just clean up all the adds, once their dead everyone back on the boss.
Ok: the rest of this fight plays out alot like normal except without the heart phases. However gravity bomb and searing light both have an additional effect.
Gravity bomb will now drop a void zone (similiar to auriaya) that will tick for 5k damage to players standing in it. If this is casts on you just run way out of the raid.
Searing light will now spawn a "life spark": the sparks will deal about 1k damage to everyone in the raid every couple seconds. Just have the MT taunt it and ranged kill it (has very little health)
Other than that, Just heal through his tantrums and burn the boss as fast as you can. This kill was pretty rough, always meant to rerecord this fight with one of our more recent kills but I am way to lazy to remember to do that lol.
Song is "simple fight" from the castle crashers OST.
Alrighty, this definitly wasn't our cleanest kill, phase 2 was pretty sloppy, but it's the first time I actually remembered to fraps it lol, so deal with it.
Start the fight as normal, Killing the worm and all the adds in the arena. When they die Thorim will give his amazing "in the mountains" speech and the group needs to split in two. One goes in the hallway and the other stays in the arena.
We keep 1 healer, 1 tank and all of our melee in the arena. 1 healer, 1 tank and all the ranged go into the hallway. This phase is simple as hell on 10man, the arena will kill shit so fast that they'll be standing around alot of the time (watch out for his stormhammer though as it has a small stun). Hallway has a couple of add packs and 2 mini-bosses to kill, but their no trouble. Just make sure the hallway group goes fairly quickly as you have to engage Thorim within 3 minutes to activate hardmode, very easy to do.
Phase 2: Once Thorim is engaged he'll hop down into the arena and needs to be picked up by a tank immediatly. Thorim will cast "unbalancing strike" on the tank throughout the fight that increases his weapon damage by 200% and decreases the tanks defense by 200, have another tank taunt him and take over untill the next strike. Just rotate tanks untill dead.
You'll see lightning pulsing along the ground, make sure your not standing in it and just move to the other side, shortly after it'll blast a cone of lightning in that area dealing around 15-20k damage to players hit. He will also cast chain lighting which deals 5k damage to the initial player struck then doubling in damage each time it jumps. If you run melee heavy (which we do) make sure your spread out around the boss (which is something we didn't do to well this attempt lol, resulting in me taking the final jump of the chain lol).
With Sif present in the arena now, she'll port around and just be a HUGE pain in the ass. She is untargetable, so no need for a tank on her. She'll cast blizzards around the room that are easily avoided as well as frostbolt volleys that just need to be healed through. Main thing you need to watch out for his her "frost nova" which will deal around 8k damage and freeze you in place for 6 seconds. If a player gets frozen they need to be dispelled ASAP! you do not want to be frozen in place then eat a lightning charge cuz you can't move.
Best to keep the boss in the center of the room as much as possible, melee should be sure to spread out to avoid taking to much damage from the lightnings, everyone stay out of blizzards, lightning etc. and just BURN BURN BURN! Pop Heros fairly early.
This Hard mode can be difficult the first couple of attempts, but once your used to dealing with all the extra shit Sif does, it fast becomes one of the easiest HMs in ulduar.
Song is: "missing linker" by alien project.
1. Tower of Life (Freya's Ward): Deals around 15k damage to nearby vehicles as well as summons plant guardians that need to be quickly nuked down (they have very little health). Also decreases fire damage done to FL by 10%.
2. Tower of Flames (Mimiron's Inferno): Deals 150k fire damage to nearby enemies and leaves down trails of fire, that obviously need to be avoided. Tower buffs FL's fire attacks by 50%.
3. Tower of Frost (Hodir's Fury): Deals 150k frost damage to nearby vehicles and will encase them in an ice tomb if they dont move out of the beam. It is very easy to avoid this and players should avoid getting frozen as it wastes other vehicle's DPS time having to break you out.
4. Tower of Storms (Thorim's Hammer): Summons beams that drop stormstrikes. Vehicles hit by the initial blast will take alot of damage. Probably the easiest tower to avoid and doesn't pose much of a threat. Tower increases FL's physical damage by 25%.
Alright as for the fight, it's pretty much the same as regular FL except now you must avoid everything listed above^. The bosses health will also be increased significantly. Personally we only use 1 motorcycle, we start by having one of the demolishers launch a player immediatly, then the 10th player jumps in the demo and shoots down and gathers pyrite. Once the boss overloads, the chopper picks up the launched player and brings him back to the demo. When the other player gets launched after the overload ends, the original player then jumps into the demo and takes over on the pyrite, repeat.
The key to this fight is keeping 2 10stacks of pyrite up on the boss as much as possible. Siege engine shooters should be helping knock pyrite down to make sure the demo's never run out. Siege engines should also primarily be the ones killing the plant adds as well as interupting FL's flame vents.
The fight can seem very chaotic as you first learn it, but once your used to it, it becomes very very easy. This vid was from our first 4 towers kill after we'd been practising on 2 for a couple of weeks, and we ended up 2shotting it. Just make sure you take as little damage as possible, get him to overload ASAP, and keep those pyrite stacks up.
Song is: Hell March 2 from "Command and Conquerer Red Alert 2"
Alrighty: 10man yogg is easy mode now, this is from our first 10man kill and we got him down on the 2nd attempt after the nerfs. Phase 1 (the only difficult part imo) was nerfed to hell and the other phases are easy enough to learn after you've seen them once or twice. But anyhoo, onto the strat!
Phase 1: Guilds like to do this a few different ways, like everyone standing in the doorway and letting the adds come to you ( I personally HATE this strat with a passion) or do it the way we do in this video which is grow some balls, get your ass out there with the clouds and do NOT FUCKING TOUCH THEM! Seriously if you can't dodge some slow moving clouds than you really shouldn't be playing this game anyway. But enough bitching: Phase 1 has Sara floating in the center of the room, she can not be damaged directly. Instead you must damage her by killing her adds and having them blow up on her. The faceless adds spawn about every 15 seconds or so from one of the 5ish floating clouds in the room. If anyone in the raid hits a cloud an extra will spawn. So if everyone runs around and doesn't pay attention to what their doing, it's very easy to get overrun with adds.
Have your MT stand near Sara and taunt any adds that spawn to the center, all DPS burn it down so that it will blow up on Sara dealing around 9% to her. Melee should be sure to back out so they are not struck. If your killing them faster than they are spawning you can have the tank run through a cloud and spawn an extra to speed things along, but most guilds should be fine just DPSing them as they spawn. The adds also cast an AoE that should be interupted.
Phase 2: First off everyone /kiss sara so they can get their damn achievment. Once that important bit of business is delt with just start DPSing tentacles while you wait for portals to spawn. Ranged burn down the Big ones and Melee on the little ones. The big ones hit fairly hard so nobody should be in melee range of them, however he will channel a raid wide debuff that needs to be interupted, just have the MT do it since there is really nothing else for him to do during this phase. Be sure and get players out of constricter tentacles ASAP as well.
Be mindful of your sanity during this phase. He will cast a fear and "psychosis" on a random raid member that decreases your sanity by 3 and 12%. He will also brain link 2 players throughout this phase that will cause them to take 3k damage and lose 2% sanity every second if they are not within 20 yards of each other. Just stay close enough to where the tether connecting you is green and not red (RED = DEAD!) If you get low on sanity hit up one of freya's sanity wells in the corners.
Portals: Every 90 seconds 4 portals will spawn around Yoggy. Send about 3 dps and a healer into the portals. You'll get ported to one of three visions. Basically just run around and hit every NPC you can find, soon as they are hit with an attack they will turn into a tentacle. Once all of them are dead the near-by brain chamber will open up. Head in and DPS the brain, then GTFO before your "induce madness" debuff wheres off. If you do not get out in time you will be permanantly mind controlled and the raid will be forced to kill you. DO NOT BATTLE REZ players that are killed because of the MC, they will rez STILL MCed and you will just have to kill them all over again. Once you get Yogg's brain to 30% phase 3 will start.
Phase 3: All ranged on Yogg, all melee on the adds. "Immortal Guardians" will spawn bout every 15 seconds during this phase. The more health they have, the harder they hit. Just have your MT constantly grabbing them while melee nukes em down ASAP. He will also cast "lunatic gaze" which reduces everyone's sanity by 4% if they are FACING HIM. Just everybody turn their back when he casts the big purple lightning shit and you'll be fine. Sanity wells are still there if needed.
So yea this phase is really easy, once you get here you pretty much won if you have a competent tank. Just keep nuking adds and nuking the boss and he'll be dead in no time.
Song in this vid is: Sephiroth's theme "one winged angel" from final fantasy 7 advent children. I'm sure most everyone can recognize this song lol, but i'm sure someone's gonna ask.
Also I'm trying something new with the strat for this video obviously, placing the strat text here in the description box rather than overlayed over the video itself. This should help me better keep the strats up to date, as well as let ppl watch a clean vid. Let me know what you guys think/ Like better.
OKAY! TIME FOR THE STRAT! Hard Mode is completed by Killing Hodir In less than 3 minutes. The most important thing about this fight is breaking out the mage: Missy Flamecuffs if your alliance, Amira Blazeweaver if your horde. The mage will drop "Toasty Fires". Players standing next to the fires have a chance to apply the "singed" debuff when the boss is hit with spells. This debuff is the KEY to getting this achievment. Singed will stack up to 25 times on 10man causing the boss to receive an additional 50% damage from all magical spells and effects!
So ranged need to MAKE SURE and get those 25 stacks up ASAP and keep them on him untill he dies!
The other important add is the shaman: He will buff a random player with "Storm Cloud". The player hit by this can buff the 4 players closest to him with "storm power" which increases their critical strike damage by 135% for 30 seconds. The player hit with the cloud should call it over vent so everyone knows who has it and they can get to him to get the buff. Obviously it is much better for spell casters to get it since they are already getting the 50% increased damage buff, but it doesn't matter to much on 10man.
Now as for tanking the boss: We used a Death Knight in some frost resist gear, and I believe our Ret Pally was using his frost resist aura. In order to give him a big lead on threat we had our hunter intentionally pull after the first flash freeze and then our DK taunted back to get a massive lead from the hunters threat. Our hunter then feigned. Hunters and Rogues should always be MDing/ToTing the tank as well.
But other than that just watch for the basics: Heavy healing during frozen blows (we had a resto shammy and a resto druid.) Look out for the runes during flash freeze and get on the snow mound afterwards (DO NOT GET FROZEN!). Keep moving to avoid Biting Cold stacking on you, and just watch out for falling icicles.
But yea that's pretty much it, definitly one of the easier Hard Modes to complete. As you get used to doing it this way it actually becomes easier than the normal mode.
Music in the video is: Indecisive Battle from Final Fantasy 6, remixed and reworked by S.S.H
1. DK tank drops death and decay in the bosses path and then books it to hide behind the wall with the rest of the raid.
2. Boss and kittys walk through the death and decay and ALL aggro on to him.
3. As they are walking the MT taunts off the BOSS before she gets to the raid, hunter can also help with misdirects.
4. Kittys are just now making it around the corner to the DK and the raid. Make sure the DK is right at the edge of the corner so he is right next to the cats when they come in LoS to avoid being pounced.
5.Another tank drags 1 or 2 away while everyone else AoEs the hell out of the pack, dragging them back to the group as the others die.
And that's it. Very easy fight once your used to the pull.

We've been pushing pretty hardcore over the past few months so that we could get Illidan down and move on to Sunwell, but the constant "race" we're in to beat this content before the expansion just doesn't seem worth it to some of us anymore =(.
We killed Illidan, that was the goal that many of us WANTED to do, and we accomplished that. As far as were concerned he IS the last boss in the game, Sunwell is just like a bonus dungeon lolz.
Reguardless, I respect my guild's decision and in all honesty: I could really use the break myself.
I'd like to thank all you guys AGAIN for all the comments/mail and for using my vids to help your guild's progress. Very rewarding knowing that I've impacted the successfulness of your progression.
I'd also like to thank all you guys for the sort of "online celebrity" I kinda gave myself with this youtube account. I'll never forget the time I went into a WSG and some random guy from another server started yelling in /bg chat "OMG ITS YOU! TANKNSPANK! THE GUY THAT MAKES THE VIDEOS!" lol it's definitly been an experience.
Anyway, love all you guys, Best of luck with your guilds. Best of luck with Sunwell. And I'll see you guys in Lich King =)
