It is the deco they originally designed the figure with, but then lost confidence in their own designs so they played it safe and used the masterpiece’s cartoon color scheme.Hound turned out to be a bigger success than they expected, winning them many new customers, myself included. How to get the insignias right. Optimus Legends 2022-05-20 | The most asked question in this channel is, where did I get my Transformers insignias.The answer is very simple, I got them from Hasbro and Takara Tomy.And here are the 3 tips that help you pick the perfect faction logo for your figures.Tip number one, stickers for the old timers.Four million years ago, it was a simple time, and Takara Tomy’s ancient stickers are perfect for G1 toys and modern figures with the G1 toy esthetics.It looks almost identical to the tempo print on the official products.For example, this one I used on the DNA upgrade kit for the Combiner Wars Devastator just blends in perfectly.These stickers are readily available for about 2 dollars a piece from Takara Tomy.Tip number two, stickers and waterslide decals for figures before 2016.It doesn’t matter which line you have been collecting, before 2016 the logos were mostly the same, the only different part was the border of the logo.Silver, white or no border.This is when I started buying these premium logos from Hasbro, they are about 5 dollars a piece, and you can choose between the conventional stickers or waterslide decals.For example, these metallic stickers look perfect on blaster and shockwave.And talking about shockwave, this was where the logo game started to become complicated, because it officially introduced the cartoon version of the logo in the MP line.So tips number 3, waterslide decals for recent transformers.As more 3rd party companies joined the game, and the cartoon and toy esthetics became more polarized, the choice of logos became a thing, so Hasbro made some corresponding changes.And in recent years, they mostly dropped the sticker line, and released more waterslide decals, because they can make the faction symbols a lot smaller with that technology, and there are no ugly and uneven edges like on stickers.Say for example, the 2018 and 2019 releases started to have these extremely small logos, which go perfectly with Legend scale figures. (Insecticons, Carbots)And there was no silver border option anymore, just white border or no border, and the price also increased quite a bit, even with cheaper envelopes, it cost around 8 dollars a piece, but it also tells you how many you get on a single sheet, seems to be there only to justify the price increase, but honestly, with the amount of logos and size options, this single sheet would last me for maybe a lifetime.And during the same period, the cartoon-style logos became more popular in the MP line, say for example, on my IT-01, KO Megatron, this cartoon logo is a necessity if you want a similar look as the official.Also, for legend scale figures, choosing the right style and size is kind of important to create the right look. (Megatron*2, Nemesis)But faction symbols are not created equal, especially after the Bumblebee movie, which was using the cartoon logos.Because this white border only version of the autobot logo, is basically Optimus Prime exclusive, they look perfect on, MM01, Toyworld Freedom Leader or Magic Square Optimus Prime, these figures are not in the same red as other Primes, so these white borders make the logo look much better on Optimus than the red logos.I do have some 3rd party logos, mostly free gifts that came with my purchases, they are mostly not 100% accurate when compared to the official ones.So in general, I think Hasbro is doing a great job catching up with the trend and releasing relevant revisions of these decals every year for a relatively reasonable price.And there you have it, the 3 tips for getting the right logos for your figures, hope this short video provided everything you need to know, and I’ll see you in the next one.
