You can keep up to 2 snails per gallon. They stay most of the time under the sand so you need at least 4 inch of sand in your tank. They are great scavengers and save to keep with corals and other invertebrates but be careful with hermit crabs- they can eat snails. Nassarius snails are used as a clean up crew. They shift the sand while looking for food like organic waste or leftover food. It cleans and shifts sand . Before placed in your tank acclimatisation progress must take place using dripping metod for about 1-2 hours.
