I’m personally pretty proud of “star-crossed” because a reference to Romeo and Juiliet is something native english speakers would understand and it’s incredibly useful short-hand to get the main idea of the song across. And “flower” in this context is a literally means to bloom or grow/develop and is fun word play to still involve the original Chinese lyrics where the lovers (Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai) build a flower bridge. Also, I know that the melody for the second verse is different than the first, but the score is more interesting with the additional lyrics!Perc and chants are a bit weird... Never notate with the goal of getting the program to sound right!
