"V" can be either "inequality" (arrow ‘points’ to smaller digit) or "two digits sum to 5" or both. If the two digits do sum to 5, the "V" can be in any orientation and does not necessarily indicate ‘greater than/less than’. Digits must not repeat in cells that are a chess knight's move apart. The digits in a cage must sum to the number printed in its corner. A Miracle Sudoku For A Little Miracle Cracking The Cryptic 2024-05-16 | *** TODAY'S PUZZLE ***We have featured many puzzles by the maths professor Dorlir and today it is his daughter's 7th birthday! He has made a special miracle sudoku to celebrate so we thought it would be a nice puzzle to have a go at in today's video. This is an astonishing piece of work (how did he have the idea??!) and, although not easy, showcases some stunning logic. Bravo Dorlir and a very happy birthday to your daughter!Play the puzzle at the link below:https://sudokupad.app/zos75s0s5zRules:Fill the grid with eight non-overlapping 2x4 regions oriented horizontally (i.e. 2 rows and 4 columns), such that each region contains the digits from 1 to 8 once each and no digit repeats in any row or column. Cells outside regions don't contain digits. Draw a single one-cell-wide loop in the grid that travels orthogonally, doesn't branch, and isn't allowed to touch itself, not even diagonally, and doesn't pass through any of the empty cells. Any two adjacent cells along this loop must include one extreme digit [1,2,7,8] and one medium digit [3,4,5,6]. For each region N, the digit N must be on the loop within this region. (Regions are numbered in reading order, based on the position of their top left cell, i.e. a region with its top left cell further down in the grid than another region will have the higher region number. If two regions have their top left cell in the same row, the region on the right will have the higher region number.) Digits along an arrow sum to the digit in that arrow's circle. A purple line contains a set of consecutive digits, in any order. Adjacent digits on a green line must have a difference of at least five. Any set of three adjacent digits on an orange line must have one digit from each of the following sets: 123, 456, 789. Digits on a red line must have a value between the values of the digits in that line's circles. Box borders divide a blue line into segments with equal sums. Digits joined by an X sum to 10; digits joined by a V sum to 5. This is a VERY nice sudoku combining arrows and ten-lines in innovative ways. Two of the arrows in this puzzle would stand a chance of being on the podium in the Arrow Olympics! Cracking The Cryptic 2024-05-08 | Here's where you can try Pseudo Cluedo by Marty Sears: https://sudokupad.app/el9sus7p0o A murder has been committed in Grid Mansion! Dr Awkward has been found dead, and there are six suspects. Can you work out who did it? Normal sudoku rules apply: place the digits 1-9 once each in every row, column, and 3x3 room.FIND YOUR PATH:• Draw a line passing through the centres of some cells to represent your journey from room to room, as you interrogate suspects and look for clues.• Your path must start at one of the lettered cells (these are initials labelling the six suspects and the victim.) The path must finish at another lettered cell, and visit all the other lettered cells along the way. • Your path may move orthogonally or diagonally between cells, but may not cross itself.• You may not pass through a thick black wall; you can only get from room to room by travelling through the CENTRE of a doorway. For some doorways this may mean you have to go through diagonally.• The value of digits along your path must constantly increase or stay the same (like a slow thermometer). You must never move from a higher value to a lower value.PSEUDO CELLS:• Every row, column and room has exactly one 'pseudo cell'. These 9 pseudo cells contain the digits 1-9 once each.• For the purposes of your path, and for the weapon, victim and suspect rules below, the value of a pseudo cell equals its room number (regardless of which digit appears in the cell.) We've never featured a puzzle from by the constructor Meggen033 and it's something that some of you know we need to put right! So tonight we're trying their One-Fog-Nine sudoku - a 159 puzzle mixed with a little dose of fog! And it's a really nice debut (and fairly approachable we'd say!). Amazing New Rules = Amazing New Puzzle Cracking The Cryptic 2024-05-05 | *** TODAY'S PUZZLE ***A new constructor, Jolly Rogers, has created a really remarkable ruleset based around introducing more squares to the sudoku grid (there clearly aren't enough already!) The upshot is a sudoku that has several distinct parts to the solve - all of which are really interesting! The sum of a square's four corner cells must be divisible by the number of cells that square contains. E.g the sum of the corners for a 3x3 square must be divisible by 9. A region is a collection of eight orthogonally connected cells. Determining the shape of the regions is part of the puzzle. Shade some cells such that: a) no orthogonally neighboring cells are shaded across a region boundary; b) all shaded cells within a region are orthogonally connected; an c) the digits in all shaded cells within a region sum to the region's clue.
