As temperatures drop and the first snowflakes of the year hit the ground, it's time to start thinking about how to best store your inflatable paddle board, utility dock, or kayak, to ensure it is safe and ready for when the weather warms up. The most important steps are...
1. Make sure your SUP (or other inflatable) is clean and dry. If used in salt water, make sure you've also rinsed the salt off before drying.
2. Store in a place that is protected from the elements, such as snow, sun, rain (and critters).
3. Store it inflated or deflated. If deflated and in a cold environment, a loose roll is recommended. Avoid folds, a tight roll, or weight on top of it, as this can cause crease marks to form. Otherwise, a tighter roll in a temperature controlled environment is fine. If storing it inflated, we recommend reducing the pressure to 6psi. This will put less stress on the seams while stored, and leave extra room for expansion with radial changes in the temperature.
