For this recipe, prepare:
1 Cup Dried Lean Red Meat
1 Cup Dehydrated Berries
1 Cup Tallow
The recipe is extremely forgiving regarding amounts of the first 2 ingredients, but only use just the amount of tallow needed to get them to stick together. If you dump in the whole cup, you may regret it...but then you can just add more meat and berries until it incorporates under your touch and forms a good solid, mortar-like paste.
Form it. Cut it. I store mine in tight paper tied with jute and tucked in an altoids tin. I keep it in the freezer until I need to take it out for an adventure, but it is shelf stable if kept in a dry, cool, dark place till needed! Have fun!!
p.s. YES you can get creative and add your own additions, but proceed with caution. You will effect it's shelf-stability very quickly when adding ingredients to it.
